Thank you Cheryl for all the time and effort you put into your channel, I have found it a great comfort to me as I recover from Brain Surgery to remove a large tumour xx a friendly Scottish accent and an easy to watch channel has meant a lot, I’m “stuck” here in Spain until I’m healed enough to travel xx
Sitting here in Colorado USA on the high prairie. In the midst of a blizzard. Wishing that I was there in Scotland with you. So that I’d be outta this blizzard, and so that I could see beautiful Scotland. But mostly, because I’d love to have a few of those incredible Iced Buns and a cup of tea with you. I don’t mean to be rude... but here in the country in Colorado we invite ourselves over to neighbors’ houses all the time. Love you channel, Lady !!!!
Oooh, iced buns are such a classic aren't they and smell sooooo deliciously yeasty when they come out of the oven. Takes me back to my early days of working when my boss would send me round the corner to the local bakers to buy some for our morning tea breaks. I'm now longing to have a go at this recipe and conjure up my youth again! Thank you Cheryl! 👍😊
Thanks Cheryl. That recipe takes me back. Haven't seen iced buns since the wee old fashioned bakery in the next village closed. Will definitely be giving this recipe a go. Somebody else commented on splitting the top and using cream and dusting with icing sugar, That's what the bakery I was thinking of used to do. We used to call them Cream Cookies.
Bless you Cheryl for your amazing channel and this beautiful recipe. I remember my NaN making these when I was a small little girl. You bring back such beautiful memories. Your channel is like a warm, loving hug❤
I've been waiting on this one haha I'm gonna put coconut on the icing for sure, but a tempted to change the shape to finger roll style, not that I'm much at cooking/baking, can follow your instructions though thank you Cheryl
My little half-brother going to come and visit me next Monday. I am definitely going to make this for him! It looks like it is out of a video game/cartoon it looks so perfectly done. I have some colorful cherries and i think it gonna look funny on top of this lovely bun. 🥰 I adore your recipes ❤I always instantly share your videos with my sister and she is so in love with it every time. Lots of love from Hungary! ❤🤍💚
Oh how lovely. I bet it smelled like heaven while they baked. I don't think there is anything you can't cook. Do y''all eve eat a Bacon Sarny/Butty.? I see it on UK TV shows a lot. TY so much for this recipe. Those food covers look handy. I love watching you make bread. It is a beautiful day her in NE Tennessee/Cherokee Forest. I planted 2 blueberry bushes. I have 8 now. Your video wasn't to long. I could listen to you reading the phone book. You have a beautiful voice and manner. Whiting Bay is beautiful. I hope y'all get to travel to the Isle of Arran again soon. Love Ya.
I make my own Castor Sugar, and Brown Sugar as well. Castor sugar I make in the food processor, Brown sugar = Molasses and granulated sugar. There was a shortage of brown sugar here in New Zealand a few years ago and I subsequently learned to make my own. Those rolls do look lovely, I will definitely try those.
I’m making these tonight & was getting ready to brush the egg on top & I realized I forgot to put the eggs in the dough!! We’ll see how they come out!!
Back when I was in school they would make a savory version of these. You put a velvety cheese (Velveeta) in the center and make the buns just like you did except for no icing and buttering the top. They called them zombies. Oh goodness. 😋
I have never had these but they look yummy. They remind me of the movie Calender Girls when they say they need considerably bigger buns to help cover up one of the charaters niddies. lol
I was expecting you to buy soft roll and then iced it and top it with a cherry, you really are amazing to cook your own roll, I could eat these right now, like the tip on using milk instead of water on the icing sugar.
They look so good. I will try the same recipe also to make fruit buns. I tried a new recipe for fruit buns last time and they tasted good but a bit heavy. These look so light and fluffy.
Found your channel beginning of this week have been binge watching videos, loving the buns , if I made a big batch can you put buns in freezer save for another time ?
They look fabulous, can I ask if the rolls are sweeter than normal bread rolls or could you use half the rolls for icing and cherries and the other half for cheese and pickle or something?
Oh wow these look delicious Cheryl , can’t remember when I last had a plain bun, also partial to the cream filled version too.😋 Had never thought of attempting to make these at home, but might be tempted to have a go, as you made it look relatively easy, problem is my kitchen is so cold for leavening, could this dough be suitable for mixing & proving in a bread machine on the proving only setting I wonder!?🤔💭 Now don’t be posing for ‘calendar girl’ photos displaying your buns Cheryl, it’s still far too cold & you’ll catch your death!🤧😉😆 Thanks for sharing as always & enjoy the rest of your week! xx 👩🏻🍳💕💞🩷
Display your buns, Cheryl, not the bahookie! I think you could, David. Alternatively, turn the oven on low for a few moments, then turn it off and pop the bread in
Someone else mentioned calendar girls David 😂😂😂 I imagine you could do it with a bread maker. I find that If I pop the oven on for a few minutes it creates a cosy spot...and leave the oven light on 🙂
@@WhatsForTea 😆😂🤣 You could give bare bahouchie girl a run for her money!🫣🤭😂 Unfortunately my oven is getting pretty old (a bit like myself) & doesn’t have a light. I suppose I could wait another month or so till the weather warms up a bit & my kitchen doesn’t feel like a chill cabinet to try making them.😊 Take care & thanks for responding. 🙏💗
@@LindaC616 😂🤣🤣 Hi Linda 👋, hope you’re well. I had never heard of an EasyBaker before, had to google it. I don’t think they sold them over here, but that might be about my level of culinary prowess!😂🤣🤣 Thanks for the tip on the oven warming for dough proving, will give it a try. 👍 xx
Wow these look marvelous!! The bread looks so divine! I’m thinking these could be used for savory too- a square of sausage in the middle of one of those buns would make a fabulous breakfast sandwich!!
Hey folks! In hope you're all having a fab Thursday 🤩 thanks for joining me for this weeks recipe video....these are delicious!! 😍

Hang in there
😂 you'd be most welcome! ☺
Split in half add raspberry jam and cream no icing on top , just icing sugar and it's a Devonshire split
Yum! What you're describing sounds very like our "cream buns" in Australia.
In nz we call that a donut 😂
Our Canadian taste buds are drooling 🤤❤🏴🫖🫖🫖🫖💕

Seven words that make algorithms love You.
Unctuous is a word that is _so_ under used ❤
They look just lovely. I could live on bread practically.
Same 😂😂😂 🍞🥖🫓
I always thought it had a negative connotation

Oh look yummy. bread is my go to, fresh crispy outside with lashings of lurpak I can’t resist and with icing too ohhhh heaven. Cheers Cheryl❤
Hi Cheryl, those buns look gorgeous and so colourful, happy st Patricks day don for get to drown the sharmrock😅
My mom would use lemon juice for icing, it cuts the strong sugar taste a bit.
Or orange...😋
Oh my they look delicious
Omg these look so good 😋

I was tempted to chase them into fingers Carol! And fill them with whipped cream and jam 😋👍
I made these this morning, I halved the ingredients & made six, they are the best iced buns I've tasted/made, many thanks for sharing 👍😋
They look lovely Cheryl. Only two weeks till I’m back in Scotland on holiday. Can’t wait! X

Hi just soooo yummy fresh bread brill video ❤
Yuuummmm!
Yum ❤
Reminds me of Calendar Girls😂😂
Hey! Are the oven temps for fan or not. I’m assuming not as I left for 10 mins and they were more dark than golden 😮
Glazed buns😜
Can you make these without stand mixer?
Can I ask what icing sugar you use? The stuff I use results in a white cloud like I’ve just been transported to a Cuban cocaine harvest.
Must say I far prefer these to Belgian Buns, no raisins for me!

What is your tattoo?
What makes these buns 'Scottish'? That looks like standard ice buns popular all over the UK
Due to high electric cost this is a no-no to date...
