Thanks for a nice review. I've actually ordered the IN-8 2nd waves and will set them up with the Kali WS-12 sub. I'll calibrate the system with Sonarworks. It's going to be interesting to hear what will come out of that. Keep up the good work! You've got a great channel.

@@hughharsher Hi there. Yes, I'm very happy with the WS-12. it's really awesome. The quality of the sound it produces is great and in such good balance with the IN-8s. I never turn it off actually, becuasse it blends in so perfectly.

@@hughharsher My pleasure! You won't regret it. Once you've started using the WS-12 you can't be without it anymore. :)

Hey nice review! From my experience with the sc205 and lp6, I found eve to be a better creative monitor (for composition) and kali to be superior for mixing.

Build quality? I familiar with the Yamaha build which I consider to be very good.

@Inside Audio do you prefer these IN-8 over the Fluid Audio FX80? They are both on my list and just curious what ones you preferred.

is there much of an improvement/upgrade between LP8/6 and IN8?

Hi. I'm looking for monitors with good bass, mainly for hip-hop. My room is 21m2. The room is not sound proof. Do you think that kali is the best choice in the range up to PLN 1700 per piece? I was also thinking of a rokkit rp8 g4 and a focal evo 65. The monitors are 1 meter from my ears.
Thank you in advance for your answer!

I am ordering a pair of Kali IN8 v2. The Adam A8h that I've been using are very nice (at 4 times the cost of the Kali) but I still use a sub. Much like having 3-way over 2-way monitors, using a sub to take care of frequencies below 55-60Hz will allow the 8" woofers to run more efficiently. I've never been happy with any monitor or any size without a sub. Make sure your room is well treated though!

  • @thehottestbeatz

The bass isn’t there compared to your Eve audios. The low mids are nice but it doesn’t translate sub bass as well as the Eves

That's an unfair comparison given the immense price differential. I'm sure there are higher-priced Genelec and Neumann monitors that can deliver more sub-bass too. FWIW, I use my new IN-8 v2 pair with a modest (10 inch) old (circa Y2K) Infinity subwoofer and the results have been utterly stunning so far. I think Kali is missing a bet by not offering wife-friendly home stereo version -- that worked very well for JBL back in the day when the 4310 monitor became the wildly successful L-100 Century.

@@editorjuno I know the price range isn’t comparable, I think it was the way it was positioned. & maybe he should have done the comparison of the in-5s vs the in-8’s v2. I’m currently looking into getting these but hope they have enough bass because I make bass heavy hip hop music. I want to avoid using a sub, Do you think these will work for me? I want a front ported design that doesn’t have any port noise. Do these make any noise coming from the port when playing at higher volumes? I don’t know what else to get in this price range but these seem good

@@thehottestbeatz -- There's no port "chuffing" here, so that's a non-issue AFAICT. Apparently a great deal of effort went into the port design -- weeks of work with simulation software was involved. If you can recommend a "bass heavy" track that's in your production wheelhouse, I can let you know how they handle it -- I can tell you that when I initially set mine up without my subwoofer, I was so impressed with the low end that I wondered whether a sub was actually necessary. They do sound marginally "bigger" with the sub, but that improvement is pretty subtle, so it's possible you might be happy with them alone.

@@editorjuno I’ve read that somewhere too about the port tube being different from others and pushing the air through evenly so there isn’t any port turbulence. My current monitors are rear ported and the port tube is too small for the music I produce which is bass heavy trap. This is something in the alley of what I produce ua-cam.com/video/E553AnMAvlU/v-deo.html anything with 808s that are driven. This track doesn’t sound like it was mastered too well because I hear distortion artifacts through my headphones but that’s in the lane of what type of music I make. Are you using your kalis with monitor stands? I think 37Hz is great for me it’s low enough but I see their linear frequency response is 45Hz to 21kHz and that makes me wonder if I need a sub. My monitors I’m using now reach down to 37Hz and I feel like it’s plenty low, I wonder if these in-8s handle low frequency well without having to get a sub. Right now my choices are kali in-8 v2 Adam audio t8v and the Yamaha hs8. Leaning towards the kalis because of the front port, and it’s a 3 way coaxial design. You can’t find a 3 way monitor for the price of $399 anywhere. Hope you are enjoying these!

@@thehottestbeatz -- I haven't gotten around to checking out the track you provided, but I did listen to "Pulling Everything With Me" by Gangstagrass, and its ultra-deep bass was big and free of any trace of distortion -- better yet with the sub, of course, but the difference is really pretty subtle and not likely to affect mixdown decisions.
