- At SynthFest France 2024, two scientists (Matthieu and Dominique) from the University of Angers presented the polyUAnalog, an open-source DIY poly analog Synthesizer.
The polyUAnalog project is based on the AS3397 synth voice chip that features two analog oscillators, filters, and VCA. Raspberry Pi is used to create the digital aspects, including tuning, envelopes, LFOs, and more.
In the SynthFest France 2024 configuration, the polyUAnalog featured a simple design with 10 analog voices, an envelope, and more.

These guys are amazing
Unique, interesting and open source? Fantastic.
:)
I believe it'd be possible to add some of the digital oscillator designs from Mutable Instruments Plaits to the voice boards. Those are coded for STM32, but I think an RP2040 core could handle the less intensive algorithms. This is a good era for open hardware, lots of exciting things being done on cheap microcontrollers.
Sounds really good.
yeah and I think there is more possible. Hope the open-source community will evolve it :)
I see “look mum no computer” building the first analog 1000 voice polyphonic synthesizer.
haha :D waiting for the video :)
Sounds lively..
I think there is more possible. Let's see how it will evolve with the help of the open-source community :)
