Just really helpful stuff here. Straightforward, simple, well produced. This is the kind of content that just makes you really thankful for a platform like UA-cam. So much time and effort saved that I can invest in other things because of it and Mr. Wimberly’s great content. Thank you for the extra time I can spend with my family this evening instead of routing through manuals or pain outlandish $ to a dealership to figure it out and wondering when I can get my vehicle back. You sir are a hero.
If Truth be Told, there is absolutely no reason GM should make changing a lightbulb that complicated. Shouldn't have to take out that many bolts to change a bulb. The earlier models just had Pins holding them in.
Somewhere, some engineer at GMC thought this was a good idea. Thank heavens you are here so we DIYers don’t dig for hours pulling all the wrong screws!
Wow!!! I was quoted 274 in labor but thanks to your video my son completed both and he is not knowledgeable in cars!!! You are truly awesome for sharing!!
I've watched a couple of your videos and you make the process smooth. You show your work with great camera angles, let me know what tools are needed, and explain everything in a manner that is easy to follow. Appreciate your work!!
This was one of the best videos I could find on UA-cam. I'm sharing that I ran into two specific issues with my 2012 Yukon. Sadly, the previous owner had removed the "hidden" bolt and so I had popped the wheel well off for no reason. Clearly two bolts hold it in well enough, I guess. Also, getting the old Sylvania bulb out was incredibly hard. I had to have someone hold the light kit and I had to use channel locks to (counter clockwise) unscrew it. I'm putting this out there sin case others run into this.
Thank you!!! You made it easy to follow. Thanks for calling out the bolt sizes. I bought a $5 pry tool for the wheel well fasteners and it was way better than using a screw driver. Thanks for taking the time to post this!
Thanks for this man. I am restoring a Yukon Denali and didn’t want to spend hours figuring this out on my own. Subscribed to this channel for sure. Your explanation of what to do and how to do are exceptional!
I watched this video 7 months ago and gave you a thumbs up. Today I finally decided to change the bulb and I watched it again. I cannot fathom how many man hours your video has saved people. Thanks again for the great how to!
Excellent video and great job, Sir. Thank you very much. Ours went our whole driving back from family’s (4hr trip). Got stopped less than 3 miles from the hacienda. I miss the good ole days when you unscrewed it and changed it in 13 seconds in the Oreilley parking lot lol. God Bless You, Sir. 👊🏼

Had to change parking lights on both sides and one headlight. Greatly appreciate the thorough of the process without 15 minutes of meaningless gabber. Loosening the area around the grill was the key! Got both sides done in an hour. Thank again.
A big thank you Steven Wimberley. As with most guys I thought I could do this without instructions. I needed to replace a blown bulb in the headlight assembly of my 2011 GMC Yukon XL. I couldn't figure what I was missing until I watched your video. It was the bolt under the wheel well that got me. Removing the bolts on the grill assembly was a big help as well. Well done video, sir!
Thank you for watching & be sure to subscribe! I really appreciate the feedback & support! The goal of this channel is to help, and your comment really encourages me to keep making better videos to hopefully help more and more people. Jobs that seem straight forward can often be tricky. Much appreciated! My father was a master carpenter and an excellent mechanic. I’m just showing people some of the things he taught me. And yes, I am a believer in Jesus Christ! 🙏🏽
I just had to do this & have to say I was scared either way to try it but you helped a lot . After I got all bolts out I got down to the front of the tire & my wrench wouldn’t fit in there to remove it. Your video didn’t show how you got it out but I only had a $10 wrench kit to use being a single mom. I cried for 10 mins & some how it was lose after lol. Prayers work. I did end up with diff measurements for the bolts & had 1 11mm that I some how no matter what I wrote down couldn’t figure out where it went or would fit in. So I have 1 bolt left out but this did help a lot! I have inspection the end of this month & know I still have a reverse light out which is easier. However after I checked to make sure my headlight worked I seen that my fog light on the other side is out lol. I’ve noticed lately here that every GMC Yukon or any model I drive by has a headlight out & since I’ve had this car less then 2 yrs I’ve had a blinker go out, headlight, fog light & a reverse light. Seems GMC has issues with lights going out non stop & the work can be time consuming as well especially for the front! I seen another guy that shown removing the air filter & hose & I was more worried about removing stuff connected then bolts & rain guards.
I was quoted $150 to have the bulbs changed. Thank you for this. I can now confidently do my own job and save over $100 depending on how much the two bulbs cost. Such clear instructions with the camera showing exactly where to do the bolts.
Good morning Mr. Wimberley. Using your video I was able to change both headlights on my Yukon with very little fuss and save a few bucks. I appreciate your attention to detail, clear instruction, and positive messaging. Thank you so much for your time. Peace, Parker
My 14 yr old son just watched this video and changed my moms headlight for her. He's very mechanically inclined anyway but this video made it super easy for him. Thank you.
This is, by far, the best video explaining how to do this. I have watched other videos that were much more complicated. This explains the process very well. Thank you!
Very well done. I appreciate your taking the time to share this. I decided to let a professional do this, but at least I knew enough to make the right decision. This is much easier on my other vehicle, but as I don't have the mobility I once had, getting the bottom bolt out on my Yukon would have been a bit of a challenge.
Perfect! Watch a couple times before I took on my Yukon..everything just as you described...and thanks for pointing out the sizes of sockets..worked perfectly, no issues. Thanks for the help!
Very quick and easy to follow instructions with some good advice about loosening the bumper cover. It took me less than 30 minutes to switch out those headlights to LEDs. Thank you for your great video!

Fantastic video. Unfortunately I’ve had to replace bulbs a couple of times on my 2008 Denali. Your video is by far the best! Photography was excellent and your instructions are spot on.
Just used your video and put new headlights in my 2012 Yukon! I'm 70 years old and I did it! The video helped me do it and save several hundred dollars from a dealer. One thing I would comment on is: You didn't mentioned anything about detaching the wiring harness from the headlights. There's a clip you have to compress to release the connection with the headlight and turn signal. Other than that, the video explains it very well!
Thank you for showing me how to do the headlamp bulb replacement. I appreciate your demonstration - although I am pretty pissed off at GMC... I could remove the headlight assembly to get to the bulbs by removing 2 pins on my 2001 Suburban... WTF, why make it so much more difficult with a newer model?
You're welcome! I feel your pain. I used to have a 2004 Avalanche that used the pins to remove the light assembly. I don't know why they decided to go away from that.
Excellent video! I want to buy the same headlight assembly but the few reviews claim visibility is very poor. Lights shine ten feet in front of the bumper. Very little adjustment. Plus it’s not clear if they come with bulbs.
The set that I purchased came with the bulbs. I can’t speak to other people’s issues, but if you want to avoid all that, it’s best to just stick with the stock assembly.

This video is fantastic. Just trying to replace my headlight on my 2012 Yukon. Undid the top two bolts but had no idea there was a third bolt on the bottom. Just thought there were pins. The manual mentions nothing about this. I remember when doing something like this was simple. I'm sure it is designed this way to get people to go in to the mechanic or dealership to get it done. Absolutely ridiculous
Thank you very much. I wouldn't have thought I'd have to come in from the wheel well, but I could tell there was likely another screw I couldn't see. Keep up the good work.
You made it look so easy. I should try it myself now cuz auto shop made a big deal they had to remove bumper. Wants 200 bucks to install (BS). Thanks :). Good job

Thanks and great channel !!!
That’s great! I’m glad the video helped! 👍🏽👌🏽
I’m glad the video helped!
Thank you for the video. Helped alot i didnt know about the bolt in the fender well.
Thanks for watching & subscribing! The hidden bolt is the key. Once you get that loose, it’s smooth sailing. I’m glad you found this video helpful!

Thank you very much. I wouldn't have thought I'd have to come in from the wheel well, but I could tell there was likely another screw I couldn't see. Keep up the good work.
