Yeah, I'm not a fan of the style of the Luther Vandross/Mariah Carey one. I generally don't like it when singers beat a song to death with runs and improvisation. I usually like a simple straightforward singing style. Diana Ross and Lionel Richie sound like they are singing together which isn't the feeling I get from the remake.
I'm 66 years old and this music we had was memories. I suffer from Depression and much more and to hear this music does help. U can get lost in it. My friend we all need to pray for one another. I wish there were more people like you, To be honest and not afraid to share feelings.
I used work security for Lionel in Vegas and this song was the best part of the show. The whole crowd sings Diana Ross part. Worked over 150 shows, every single one, the fans knew the lyrics
Diana's voice could a grown man cry...I've never seen her sing a song when she wasn't smiling! I love that woman, one of my favourite divas! BTW this was the original and they performed this at the Academy Awards because although the movie wasn't that special, THE SONG was nominated and MADE the movie and tear-jerker!
When I saw his face as soon as he heard Lionel Ritchie brought such a smile to my face. It's that feeling that no other thing in the world can do. MUSIC
That’s my baby Diana and for those who don’t know they recorded it separately. Diana is a very prompt performer and she said Lionel was so late at the recording session like 4 hours she did her part and left lol.
Before I had ever seen the music video, I went to a house party in Japan, and heard two very talented singers just serenade the room with this song completely off the cuff. I'll never forget it....
I just loving your reactions to the songs I love from the decades I've lived. I'm 69 years old and I watch at least one of your reactions every evening to put a smile on my face. You are a beautiful young man. So glad you have found music that brings you joy!
Simple and pure voices telling a story. No vocal fireworks needed, just two people getting a story out with passion. The other version, while beautiful, was to showcase how beautiful their individual voices were and how they sounded together. Not saying I didn't like it, they just each had different visions. I'm an old fashioned girl, I like the story.
My friend nannied for her twenty years ago in the US... She could tell you a very different story! We all have different sides, Diana, like all of us wear the face we want the world to see but behind closed doors the true character shows!!
There is just no other version as far as I'm concerned. They are performing here at the Oscars in 1982 where it was nominated for best song. Now this is not the real live version. This is the recording playing over their performance that someone posted some years ago on UA-cam. The "real" one is also available and even better. If you look closely you will see the discrepancy. Best song ever!❤❤❤
this song is also endless, it is amazing, i remember this when i was young, and i never forget it,and no matter how many times i hear it, it is still the same feelings as the first time, timeless, priceless, endless, amazingness everytime, two wonderful singers, and please please please do diana ross, ""touch me in the morning"", and also ""aint no mountain high enough""" and ""remember me"" and any other songs from that amazing lady, i fell in love with her as a child, and i love her now, one of the best singers this world has produced,
Endless Love with Lionel & Diana just might be the best love song of all time. I went to a Lionel Richie concert in the early 80’s where he sung that and they had a screen come up with Diana singing her part. It was amazing.
Lionel Richie wrote the song! The genius Richie!! This is first class here. This was music that everyone connected to. An all time great song sung by two all time greats.
This song was our wedding song in 1982. Wife has been in the hospital since xmas eve 2019 with surgery complications. And because of this covid 19 virus I have not seen her in 3 months. So this song brings back better memories for me. Thanks
True reaction there. THANKS 4 the memories. That was a soundtrack from the movie Endless Love. It was great when you're a teenager. Thanks again from NORTH CAROLINA 🇺🇸💛👍🎧🎵🎶
So glad you did that song! One of my all time favorite duets. PLEASE review Shake You Down" by Gregory Abbott. It is right up your alley. You won't be sorry😀❤
This was the original and best version! Just my opinion. I remember listening to this record over and over and over….I loooooovvve that you’re so young and that you’re finding this “old” music and appreciate it so much too. Really warms my heart.
This brought tears to my eyes I walked down the aisle to this song and it still makes me cry... I love that you can appreciate the music from the past ....I’m 58 years old and ever since I was a little girl I have loved music and I was listening to old music when I was little so you can imagine The library that I have ...but some of these songs I have not heard in a while so thank you!
G S a few friends and I went to see this on graduation night. Such a beautiful song. Not so much the movie. Does everyone remember the Controversy this movie had? Most parents then would not of been very happy with there kids seeing it. Today it wouldn’t be considered terrible. I remember being shocked!
G S - I saw that film and named my daughter after Brooke Shield's character in the film "Jade". Her Dad had sent me a "Dear John" letter when I was 8 month's pregnant with her, it took me year's to get on with my life, and he will alway's be in my heart. ❤️.... She's 36 yrs old now.
Lionel can write and sing those ballads, can't he? So much talent in one person. Yeah, this song was the soundtrack for the movie they were showing clips of. "Truly" "Hello" "Lady" (that he wrote for Kenny Rogers that you also reacted to) "Once, Twice, Three Times a Lady", "Easy Like a Sunday Morning"... so many!
This was the original. 1981 and written by Lionel Richie. This was a huge song when I was a kid and a #1 hit for nine weeks. It's from the movie Endless Love that came out that year.
Aww, you have an old soul. Lionel Richie wrote this song. Like you say, both amazing but Lionel & Diana were the original!! I mean they were magic together. Her voice is like silk!!! This one right here though-my heart... Lionel Richie is literally one of the best songwriters of our time PERIOD!!. He dominated the charts in the 80s...
Song was written by Lionel Richie for the soundtrack to the 1981 movie of the same name. I was in 7th Grade that year and it seemed to always be slow dance song that was always played at school dances. LOL!
James, I love your reactions. You are so obviously reacting honestly - it makes me feel so good to hear the music from my teenage years again, and to see someone your age, reacting positively to these songs, is very special to me.
This song always gets me in the feels since it reminds me of my former fiance and soul mate. She was taken away at a young age from a brain tumor. Oh what could have been. RIP Liz.
Not true... they were both in the studio together. Diana had just done two shows in Vegas and took a red eye to LA to meet Lionel and record this classic. You might be confusing this with Patti LaBelle and Michael Mcdonald's "On my own" which they recorded seperately.
@@anthonyyusef5897 no guys both of you sort of got it wrong. This was recorded together in a studio in Reno Nevada not LA. And Lionel was late for the recording irritating Diana who had yes done two shows in Vegas that day.
Lionel Richie is truly (no pun intended 🙂) one of the greatest songwriters this country has ever produced. I'm glad this is the version I grew up with because its the only one as far as I'm concerned. You can't top perfection.
You telling us about finally finding music that touched your soul through these reactions, that right there warmed my heart and put a smile on my face, seeing what the power of music can do to a person, like you've grown and your mind and soul kinda expanded through all the music that you've found, really cool to see :)
This is a “I’m not comparing” alert but just a recommendation: one of the great singers of our time, Engelbert Humperdinck covered this song live in 1982 at the Hilton in Las Vegas. I think you’ll love it. It’s worth a watch. He and Lionel are very good friends too.
This is the original and the only one as far as I’m concerned
AussieGirl same
agree. I've never even heard the other version
Absolutely right!!
So true!! No one can beat this version!!
This was the original and the best version of the song. I won’t listen to any other.
indeed. Plus I have an allergy to Mariah Carey music. 😁
This is the original version. So beautiful the words & how their voices mesh. No one does this song justice like they can!
I'm 66 years old and this music we had was memories. I suffer from Depression and much more and to hear this music does help. U can get lost in it. My friend we all need to pray for one another. I wish there were more people like you, To be honest and not afraid to

Lionel Richie is a great song writer and performer
A truly beautiful love song. We just don't hear anything like this anymore.
Oh Lionel can sing to me, anytime
When I saw his face as soon as he heard Lionel Ritchie brought such a smile to my face. It's that feeling that no other thing in the world can do. MUSIC
This is the original version.
Diana Ross is such a fine woman. She still looks amazing to this day
Best love song ever ❤
That’s my baby Diana and for those who don’t know they recorded it separately. Diana is a very prompt performer and she said Lionel was so late at the recording session like 4 hours she did her part and left lol.
That's real music. The good ole days. 1981❤❤❤
Diana Ross has so many great songs, but you have to check out Touch Me In The Morning.
Studio version so you can hear the great arrangement.
And the theme from Mahogany
So true. I was a teen falling in love every week when these songs came out. Absolute heart breakers.
I'm glad you finally listened to this. Lionel Richie wrote some of the most beautiful songs...
This was magic back in the day. Beautiful song and beautifully done.
Lionel Richie was the man, Diana will live forever as a legend
THIS IS THE ONE AND ONLY ORIGINAL AND THE ONLY ONE THAT EXISTS ITS EASILY ONE OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL SONGS OF ALL TIME
Love your grandmother’s taste in music. I can see you have such a special bond with your grandparents. Love that! Stay safe!
Classic written by Lionel Ritche♥️♥️♥️
You know singers are elite when the live version is better than the studio version.
Yes!!! The real version.
All of these young kids on American Idol, auditioning in front of him ...need to RECOGNIZE the GREATNESS...that is LIONEL RICHIE....LEGEND.
In my personal opinion this is the best duet ever
I agree!
Lionel Richie is the music to play for a romantic evening. ❤
I'm glad that you love the old music. This was a wonderful song. Diana was perfectly paired up with Lionel, who's voice is like silk.
Simple and pure voices telling a story. No vocal fireworks needed, just two people getting a story out with passion. The other version, while beautiful, was to showcase how beautiful their individual voices were and how they sounded together. Not saying I didn't like it, they just each had different visions. This is one of the best reaction channels. Keep doing your thing bro.
I love Diana Ross! Met her several times and she is such a nice person, regardless of what the media says.
My friend nannied for her twenty years ago in the US... She could tell you a very different story! We all have different sides, Diana, like all of us wear the face we want the world to see but behind closed doors the true character shows!!
Yeah this is the original and best. Two of the all time greats on the stage together...so great.
Bill Withers passed away this week. He's best known for the song "Lean On Me" (the best song ever IMO). Maybe you could listen some of him.
Seriously? This should've made the news but was probably overshadowed by Covid coverage. He will be missed. Ain't No Sunshine
I sent JB a whole list of Bill Withers - loved his music. RIP.
He passed away on my birthday. My heart sank

Love your reactions Bro 👌👌 Diana is soooo beautiful here , and the brilliant Lionel Ritchie's let's her shine so brightly 🙌🙌🙌
The best, their voices and the performance. And Jesus, how gorgeous was Diana? What a beautiful woman.
This is music. Nothing more to be said.
I'd forgotten how beautiful this song is. She can sing!
One of the greatest love songs ever! Thank you for reacting to it. I adore your channel and you!!
This was my wedding waltz❤️ it is a joy to watch your reaction👌
So great. The best version hands down
I love his fascination with love and beauty.

We had music!! No long hours in front of TV nor internet.
The best wedding song ever!
Ms. Ross, wow .The voice is like candy.Lionel your voice is fine wine .Love, love.
Gotta love Lionel Richie 💯
The original and the BEST!
I remember seeing the movie this song came out of it starred Brooke Shields who I thought was the most beautiful woman at the time 😍
myristicanz she still is. I’m glad to see what a great lady and mother she seems to be
This songs reminds me of my first crush Christie when I was 6. That was 38 years ago.
I love your sweet reaction to one of the best love songs of all time! ❤️

Yesss! This is the one. I love them both so much. As soon as Diana opened her mouth... I got chills.
A joy to watch your reaction when Ms Ross starts to sing ,both singers are pure class.

I love this song. It takes me back years thank you xxx beautiful Never beat the old songs god bless you. Beautiful. Man
Cannot beat the original.
It so nice that we in the older generation left something nice for the kiddies!
I remember this when it came out. There is only one word... enchanting.
The clips are from the movie Endless Love starring Brooke Shields.
G S a few friends and I went to see this on graduation night. Such a beautiful song. Not so much the movie. Does everyone remember the Controversy this movie had? Another great duet back then with the song With You I'm Born Again by Billy Preston and Syreeta.
This!!!!
Incredible song
INDEED
Syreeta and Billy Preston did a marvelous duet with That song. The voices just oozed perfection
Timeless breathtakingly beautiful song
There is nothing that compares to the old stuff. Much love.

That was awesome, no over singer it and harmonies on point
Absolute perfection, and that is that.
Have a listen to Lionel Richie singing 3 Times a Lady or Diana Ross with Touch Me In The Morning
Dani Lou yes! 3,times a lady for sure!’
Diana Ross and Lionel Richie Awesome
This is one of my best.. ever.. no other versions can compare to this.. faboulose.. thnx for ur reaction man
One of the top ten ballads ever recorded.
Love your reaction bro..👍🏻 It is indeed a beautiful song
React to "Just Once" by James Ingram; "Neither One of Us" by Gladys Knight.
The Supremes was the first concert I ever went to. I think I was 17 or so. I was in lust with Diana Ross. I still think she's awesome.
Such an amazing classic!! I just love your emotion, it makes me feel it for the song that much more❤️ Keep doing it!
This song always gets me in the feels since it reminds me of my former fiance and soul mate. She was taken away at a young age from a brain tumor. Oh what could have been. RIP Liz.
One of the best songs ever!!
This one makes the heart RACE
Powerhouse couple right here. This here brings back such beautiful memories of my teenage years.
You might also want to know that in the making if this song neither side ever met. One part was recorded in LA and the other part was recorded in NYC.

THE BEST, NO OTHER!!!
