Explained extremely well, Megger produce some fantastic bits of kit and Lee Baker is amazing he always goes above and beyond, I’m really looking forward to getting an MFT-X1
Have you got it yet? what do you think?
Brilliant tester I had mine on order brilliant investment 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Do you use the Megger certificates too?
Well explained and good vid Lee
He is very good, makes me want to purchase one for myself 👍
Looks a cracking bit of kit time to save some money
You should give the Megger Certsuite a try, I've just started using myself for an EICR in a care home, takes a little while to get your head around it, but when it clicks... wow, I wish I'd had this years ago! (And there's a free trial with it).
Data logging integration would be brilliant
If I'm correct, its compatible with the Megger CertSuite so will automatically fill out the forms.
I can't see there being a need to have the tester updated if the regs change the testing criteria, I have an old cm500 and it does everything the regs ask for.
It seems as if Megger are playing catch up, with metrel and TIs, be interesting to see if this eats batteries with that colour screen.
As for the case, a hard case is better such as the fluke or the TIS.
Maybe so, but if a company releases a product with a great idea, it's not long before others start doing the same.
No idea if the color screen affects the batteries but I can't imagine it'll be much given today's technology, however the battery pack is rechargeable and if I remember correctly there's an adapter that allows you to use normal AA batteries.
@@ChampionsOfTheTrade yeah that's true, I know the other testers I mentioned suffer from poor battery life, judging by other users opinions which can only be the screen. On the plus side it's kept the dials rather than full touch screen.
@@acelectricalsecurity I'd dread to think how much more expensive it would be to add a touch screen! 😵💫, Plus I don't think they're a suitable option for testers, expensive to replace and no tactile response which I feel is important, especially when doing testing.
1:15 "The testing is quicker" well I think not, why does it take so long for the IR test to start once the test button is depressed?
What's so slow about it? The dial was turned and it began immediately.
@@ChampionsOfTheTrade If you select Insulation Resistance yes the screen changes quickly. However, when you actually do the test, there is a delay from when the test button is pressed and held until when the analogue arc starts. On my 1552 the test starts as soon as the test button is depressed
@@asp217 I'll have to take a look when I get my hands on one. Maybe it's a safety feature? There's more information on this meter in our CEF23 video, but focuses mostly on the Cert software.
It has nothing on the Metrel MI 3155, The MI 3155 has had their "brand new features" for years. And it has a touch screen. Its a tad more expensive but when you get to these levels of pro your in for a penny your in for a pound.
I'll have to keep my eye open for one, though being French, how easy is it getting them serviced/repaired?
@@ChampionsOfTheTrade Metrel does have a distributor in France, i have never needed repairs but Metrel is up there with the best of them so i cant imagine it being difficult.
Only problem Metrel Videos are far and few between. I really struggle using my Metrel and find it overly complicated. The Megger is far superior just for the fact it comes with a video to explain every single feature.
@@stiaankruger2699 Finding PFC is convoluted, Is there an Earth Loop Impedance test similar to the megger 2/3 lead Lo test ? Also struggle to find the correct test for testing ZE. The Tester itself is fine its just the lack of usage information is next to none. Megger every single feature is available in a video. Metrel also released a Ring Tester which for almost 1 year had no null feature until they released a newer version which left my tester broken after updating the Firmware. Very disappointed with Metrel personally.
Think I'll stick with the AA batteries thanks. Far cheaper to replace than when that expensive battery goes duff.
There is a secondary pack that you can use standard AA batteries instead of the rechargeable 👍
@@ChampionsOfTheTrade Fair enough - good call!
Price is high
Yes, but there are a lot of features packed into it, not something you would need to replace for many many years if at all, especially with the software updating via the SD card.
