- Pentagon announced that the US used its deadly B1 bombers to launch retaliatory strikes against Iranian targets across Iraq and Syria. The US reportedly fired over 125 precision munitions, using a mix of drones and long-range B1 bombers flying from US territory. The US bomber aircraft is said to have hit over 85 targets at 7 facilities, three in Iraq and four in Syria, in an operation that lasted 30 minutes. The US used its iconic Cold war icon, a heavy B1 bomber, to strike IRGC targets in a show of power and range of the American military. Use of 12,000-km-range bomber a message to Iran and its proxies in the Middle East.

My understanding is that the B1-B is not really supersonic nor meant to fly that way. The B1-A was, but with the advent of more sophisticated Soviet fighters, the B1 adopted variants shifted towards low flight and evasion than over supersonic, high altitude flight. Still a great, amazing aircraft, but the title of it being supersonic is either misleading in many ways to the point of click bait or shows poor understanding by the content creator.

Depends. With no near-peer military rivals, the US can keep flying the buff over developing nations into the next century. The advanced weapons platforms become more important deterrents when your rival has similar firepower and weaponry, like during Cold War era.

Since the U.S. and U.K. have identified Iran as the source of trouble, why didn't they take on Iran. By attacking Iraq and Syria, they have infringed the territorial sovereignty of those countries. Are the U.S. afraid of Iran, and bullied the lesser states? Let me give you an analogy, if the missiles were fired by U.S. support Ukrainian groups inside the U.S. against the military targets in Russia, should Russia start attacking the U.S.?
