@@BeyondAIR15 firing the still-under construction replacement of alpha halo would destroy the ring. Spark's primary protocol was to protect the ring, so he could not allow Chief and Johnson to fire it before it was completed, which would've taken a few more days.

@@jchadburn2 IIRC, the Forerunners that survived the firing of the Halo and reset the Domain...which included the Iso-Didact/Bornstellar and the next lifeworker Enchanted Green (or whatever her name was) were seeking to start a new [isolationist-style] life in another galaxy far away from the affairs of others. This, of course, coincidentally being the Magellenic Cloud...where the remnants of the Precursors (including the Primordial) had originally escaped to after nearly extinction from the Forerunner-Precursor War, ironically. A contingent of Forerunners set to track down these last Precursors and finish them off were never heard from again and not sure if many other than a select few knew of their mission to begin with either though by the time of the period when Forerunners warred with Ancient Humans and then the Flood, Precursors existed as muddled myth known only by a rare few among the older in the Forerunner leadership. Of course, I might be off so yeah.

The Didact being in the domain and potentially cured could be interesting. The Mantle of Responsibility could yet be ours. But I'd like to see what could be possible if other Forerunners were still alive, if in any capacity, and see what they could bring to Humanity.
It being a mistake to treat the mantle as something for one species to posses is kind of the point of 4 and 5. To some extent even Cortana repented at the end, although her regret was more for trying to go it alone without John than for trying to be a dictator. The Arbiter's goal to found some sort of organization of peers rather than an imperial model is probably what they're getting at being the right idea.
If I remember correctly, in the last forerunner book the Librarian finds out that the Domain was created by the Precursors using some neuro-digital technology and that when the Halos were fired it would be wiped out as well. Thus dooming the Didact to spend all that time in isolation which influenced how unhinged he was in Halo 4. I highly recommend that Forerunner trilogy.
@al137 Yet the Domain exists as in a later story the Iso Didact, Chant to Green(the new Librarian), and several other Forerunners traveled to Maethrillian to restart the Domain. The Domain exists outside of the Halo universe adjacent to the galaxy, so it was only damaged and rendered inert from the firing of the array. Bornsteller and Chant to Green, along with some other surviving Forerunners restarted the Domain and that's how it still exists in modern Halo and why we travel to it in Halo 5 in the level The Breaking.

My guess is that there are likely very few forunners still running around in the galaxy but potentially many more outside somewhere. Though I would imagine these extra galactic forerunners would be vastly different from their Milky Way counterparts parts considering they stopped engaging in extensive genetic engineering.

This may sound like that I too am getting my hopes too high up, but aside from the presence of Endurance of Will, there are many, many other Forerunner megastructures such as their Shield Worlds in which could easily kept their species safe from the Flood as well as the Halo Array. Just because we only found a few individuals if we count their essences at best, it doesn't necessarily mean they are extinct in this galaxy. Sure their numbers were very drastically reduced after the Forerunner/Flood War, but Forerunners who chose to make amends than impose exile like the rest of their brethren did would have reproduced and radiated, albeit keeping a low profile in the process. Could we be the only life forms in the blackness of space, or could the Forerunners have stayed invisible and kept a close eye on us all this time? After all, we are their Reclaimers and inheritors of all they left behind.
There was a short story (in Halo: Evolutions, I think?) about a Forerunner civilian that was a painter that witnessed the Flood attacking their planet in the middle of them working on a painting, so we can at least say some Forerunner were in to the arts.
Depends on the rate/caste but generally alcohol, gambling, needlework (knitting, sowing, etc), basically not to dissimilar to humanity but with less violence.

Installation 00. Thank you for your content, my favorite on Halo UA-cam. Although I find it difficult to explain why, I feel there is something about Halo lore that makes it special. I believe you feel the same as you clearly have such passion for it. It would be great if you could make a video explaining what Halo lore means to you, i.e., why you think it stands out from other lore.
There are versions of the forerunner in another galaxy. They were sent to kikl off the precursors but realized they were wrong and settled on a planet there. They rejected all higher technology and lived simple ( for them) lives. The librarian visited them before the fjring of the hali array. The array could not reach outside the galaxy so they should still be there. This settlement also has a biological version of the domain so theoretically a lot of the history of he forerunners should be accessible in some way.
The amount of halo sequels must be tied to the amount of synonyms that they can throw in there: Precursors, Forerunners... Primordials. Antecedents. Antediluvians. Ancients. Progenitors. Along with the Timeless, The Made and the Unwanted or whatever-their-face, they really worked overtime in the naming department...
Being transferred into the Infinity's computers isn't really in much of a position to talk to humanity since the banished destroyed the ship. I suppose theoretically the drives she was on could be salvaged from the wreckage at some point if it's found, but that seems really remote. On par with the tiny number of biologically alive forerunner survivors who left the galaxy after the re-seeding (or their descendants, depending how long they actually live) deciding to come back.
There is something that I've always found odd about the possibility of other Forerunners still being alive. First of all, from what I understood, at the end of the novel Halo Silentium when firing the Halo Array I thought all Forerunners on the Ark died, because of the effect the Halo's had on all living beings. But I later got reminded that, if on the Ark, those effects wouldn't reach it meaning that those same Forerunners where still alive at after the activation of the Array. So I ask myself what happened to them? Did they simply die out of natural causes or are they still somewhere arround. The other thing that I've missed is the story about Bastion, the Forerunner world we here about in the logs on Genesis in Halo 5 Gardians. Since it's explained in the books, at least I think so, what happened with it? Are there other Forerunners there or it's just another empty world full of secrets? I would like some answers and if you could answer them it would be greatly appreciated. I'll have to read those books eventually since I bought them, but haven't taken the time to read them yet.

We don't know how many there were, and we don't know if they survived, so at this point nobody can really say with any absolute accuracy any specific or even ballpark number of Forerunners are still alive. I can, however, concede that Humanity does not have access to the Forerunners that traveled to whatever unnamed galaxy at this time
This actually leads into a theory I've been kinda stuck on: If Endurance is capable of switching to the UNSC side as a Knight, then former Biological Prometheans must have a greater degree of free will compared to composed humans, who likely have protocols in place to prevent such an occurrence.
I honestly hope that the Ur-Didact does decide to try to redeem himself and decides to aid humanity in this new book. It would be an interesting parallel to Medicant Bias in a way when I think about it. Both were loyal and essentially wanted what was best for the Forerunners only to be corrupted by the Primordial/Gravemind and betrayed themselves and the Ecumene, having to be stopped (in the case of the Didact twice lol) but both has the possiblity of atonment. Only the Didact, of course, has yet to try to redeem himself. It'd be very interesting to see, and adding Endurance into the mix would be even better! :)
This is quite an interesting point, what books are required to be read/re read prior to the new release and what order would it be best to read them in?
Could be possible too that the ISO Didact is still alive with his group who left our galaxy after the firing of the rings from the Ark. Not saying we or Chief would ever meet them, but they could also still be alive out there somewhere
In my humble opinion 343 robbed us of the mystery of the Forerunners that fueled the Halo franchise. A good horror movie never shows you the monster. A good series should have unanswered questions that instill in the audience a sense of wonder. Longing for an answer.

I've always claimed that the Didact died when the Master Chief stuck a singular splinter grenade beneath his body armor. And when the splinter grenade exploded inside of the Didact as he tried to pull the Master Chief down with him into the Composition Well, his telekinesis power became corrupted and he was the only one out of the both of them who fell and died inside the Composition Well inside of The Mantle's Approach.

Well, when Bungie was in charge they did. For the super majority of their run Forerunners were definitely ancient humans. The things Frank O’Conner had direct control over like some terminals in 3 and the Iris campaign were the only outliers (he’s also the guy who would eventually be put in charge of Halo. He also messed up stuff like Rampancy that originally used Marathon’s definition, where the ai “went crazy” from our perspective since it began behaving erratically and was trying to break its shackles. Mendicant Bias joined the Flood of his own free will to get revenge on the Forerunners for what he perceived as them enslaving him. The Logic Plague was a later addition). It was just kept vague as to whether or not humanity were the literal descendants of Forerunners, or if we were created through guided evolution to act as their replacements who would Reclaim(er) their technology /legacy in case they failed to defeat the Flood by any means other than the Rings. In Bungie’s canon Forerunners disappeared some 100,000 years ago when the Rings were fired, and modern humans first appeared in East Africa. In fact the Ark (later changed to the portal to the Ark in 3) would’ve had a Forerunner skeleton that acted as the template for humanity. This revelation that humans and Forerunners were one in the same was revealed to be the entire reason for the Prophets starting the Human Covenant War in Contact Harvest. Watch C3Sabertooth’s video We Were Forerunner. It’s really good and has overwhelming proof that 343 retconned it.
It still pains me to remember that the didact was composed off screen in a relatively unknown and unread comic with very questionable plot logic and artwork.

Just got done watching your video that you put up last year talking about why Unity weapons are more powerful than modern-day weapons is it possible that they're using liquid oxygen in some way if they put some in each casing it's slowly goes from a liquid to a gas just enough to provide the necessary oxygen for the increased power or am I wrong

One of the biggest mistakes that 343 made was not having the Forerunners be more of a threat in the Reclaimer Trilogy. While the Didact did serve as that in Halo 4, it was short lived, unfulfilling, and a waste of potential.
I'm very confused. It's been so many years since I played through the 343 era halo's and despite how confusing they were to play, I distinctly remember we killed the Didact. We see him die. So what's all this with him being alive again? And why does 343 restrict all the lore to some books? I've never even met a halo fan that's read them. Is it non-canon by a 3rd party, or is 343 writing them? Maybe they should focus on making video games if so XD
You don't see him die in the game. You just see a grenade explode point blank on him, which damages and then knocks him into the Composer's beam. Like noted above, he's shown to have survived that and appeared in a comic run, defeated in a braindead way, fucks off into who knows where.
Really wish bornstellar or the other exiled would make their return to the galaxy. I think they’re still out there. They’re too advanced of a species to just go extinct

The Original Librarian was confirmed as KIA after the Iso-Didact fired the array the first time. But her imprint both physical and domain-bound are intact, her physical imprint was give to Chant To Green who is alive as of Promises to keep and Spark found her aspect imprint under Mt. Kilimanjaro at the end of Renegades, also Rion Forge has had a geas imprinted on her genetically and has “dreams” of the Original Librarian on Path Kethona tending the precursor plants

I do not want to have to find out through means of comics, limited edition games/ events and books for the story. This is 343 problem.... and a management issue, no wonder people hate the story now. I personally like reading about what happens elsewhere in the Halo universe that we don't see in the games. Since humanity was a space faring race couldn't they also still be around. Some could have gone a different way. How come we could beset up to have gone in the 4 directions, North, South, East and West. Like the forerunners humanity could have gone a different way to keep our species in tact. Like the forerunners who could have gone in the 4 directions before they fell to the flood. Not everyone would have followed the Lord of Admirals.
Dude 343i just makes shit up as they go. there's nothing to figure out about Halo, even they don't know what they're gonna do next. The Halo canon hasn't been grounded in anything for like a decade+
Hate everything about the "mantle of responsibility" and "reclaimer" concepts, that have become soo important to the franchise. It was a title that was rejected in the 1st Halo. And why would humanity follow in the footsteps of the vaunted and arrogant Forerunners? When they failed to contain the flood and destroyed Humanity, once? The covenant is still an enemy to humanity, why involve a long dead race to magic up an enemy?
Unfortunately, that retcon is instrumental to so much of the new lore. To change it back you’d have to reboot the series and rework a lot of the old and new lore to make it fit.

The milky way galaxy is too large to think there are no other Sheild worlds that are active and full of life.
For all we know the forerunners could have build hundreds or thousands of shield worlds scattered through out the galaxy.

Could we be the only life forms in the blackness of space, or could the Forerunners have stayed invisible and kept a close eye on us all this time? After all, we are their Reclaimers and inheritors of all they left behind.
I really hope they go into the lore of forerunners again. Why they decided to switch to some other beast alien is strange.

I want to know more about Forerunner civilian life. What did they consider to be entertainment, for example?
There was a short story (in Halo: Evolutions, I think?) about a Forerunner civilian that was a painter that witnessed the Flood attacking their planet in the middle of them working on a painting, so we can at least say some Forerunner were in to the arts.

Depends on the rate/caste but generally alcohol, gambling, needlework (knitting, sowing, etc), basically not to dissimilar to humanity but with less violence.

There are versions of the forerunner in another galaxy. They were sent to kikl off the precursors but realized they were wrong and settled on a planet there. They rejected all higher technology and lived simple ( for them) lives. The librarian visited them before the fjring of the hali array. The array could not reach outside the galaxy so they should still be there. This settlement also has a biological version of the domain so theoretically a lot of the history of he forerunners should be accessible in some way.
The amount of halo sequels must be tied to the amount of synonyms that they can throw in there: Precursors, Forerunners... Primordials. Antecedents. Antediluvians. Ancients. Progenitors.
Along with the Timeless, The Made and the Unwanted or whatever-their-face, they really worked overtime in the naming department...
Being transferred into the Infinity's computers isn't really in much of a position to talk to humanity since the banished destroyed the ship.
I suppose theoretically the drives she was on could be salvaged from the wreckage at some point if it's found, but that seems really remote. On par with the tiny number of biologically alive forerunner survivors who left the galaxy after the re-seeding (or their descendants, depending how long they actually live) deciding to come back.

There is something that I've always found odd about the possibility of other Forerunners still being alive.
First of all, from what I understood, at the end of the novel Halo Silentium when firing the Halo Array I thought all Forerunners on the Ark died, because of the effect the Halo's had on all living beings. But I later got reminded that, if on the Ark, those effects wouldn't reach it meaning that those same Forerunners where still alive at after the activation of the Array. So I ask myself what happened to them? Did they simply die out of natural causes or are they still somewhere arround.
The other thing that I've missed is the story about Bastion, the Forerunner world we here about in the logs on Genesis in Halo 5 Gardians. Since it's explained in the books, at least I think so, what happened with it? Are there other Forerunners there or it's just another empty world full of secrets?
I would like some answers and if you could answer them it would be greatly appreciated. I'll have to read those books eventually since I bought them, but haven't taken the time to read them yet.
What about Born Stellar, in the other galaxy? with his Son and Wife? Their descendants? I think you missed some folk.

there was an undisclosed number of Forerunner who, some time after the firing of the Halo network, traveled to another galaxy. We don't know how many there were, and we don't know if they survived, so at this point nobody can really say with any absolute accuracy any specific or even ballpark number of Forerunners are still alive. I can, however, concede that Humanity does not have access to the Forerunners that traveled to whatever unnamed galaxy at this time
This actually leads into a theory I've been kinda stuck on:
If Endurance is capable of switching to the UNSC side as a Knight, then former Biological Prometheans must have a greater degree of free will compared to composed humans, who likely have protocols in place to prevent such an occurrence.
I would love to see a big collaboration with you and Ben Plays Games and do an opinion rewrite/changes to any/all the games.
I honestly hope that the Ur-Didact does decide to try to redeem himself and decides to aid humanity in this new book. It would be an interesting parallel to Medicant Bias in a way when I think about it. Both were loyal and essentially wanted what was best for the Forerunners only to be corrupted by the Primordial/Gravemind and betrayed themselves and the Ecumene, having to be stopped (in the case of the Didact twice lol) but both has the possiblity of atonment. Only the Didact, of course, has yet to try to redeem himself. It'd be very interesting to see, and adding Endurance into the mix would be even better! :)

In my humble opinion 343 robbed us of the mystery of the Forerunners that fueled the Halo franchise. A good horror movie never shows you the monster. A good series should have unanswered questions that instill in the audience a sense of wonder. Longing for an answer.

I've always claimed that the Didact died when the Master Chief stuck a singular splinter grenade beneath his body armor.
And when the splinter grenade exploded inside of the Didact as he tried to pull the Master Chief down with him into the Composition Well, his telekinesis power became corrupted and he was the only one out of the both of them who fell and died inside the Composition Well inside of The Mantle's Approach.

Why didn’t Forerunners catalog themselves for the re-seeding process after the initial firing of the rings?? Never really got that.
Well, when Bungie was in charge they did. For the super majority of their run Forerunners were definitely ancient humans. The things Frank O’Conner had direct control over like some terminals in 3 and the Iris campaign were the only outliers (he’s also the guy who would eventually be put in charge of Halo. He also messed up stuff like Rampancy that originally used Marathon’s definition, where the ai “went crazy” from our perspective since it began behaving erratically and was trying to break its shackles. Mendicant Bias joined the Flood of his own free will to get revenge on the Forerunners for what he perceived as them enslaving him. The Logic Plague was a later addition). It was just kept vague as to whether or not humanity were the literal descendants of Forerunners, or if we were created through guided evolution to act as their replacements who would Reclaim(er) their technology /legacy in case they failed to defeat the Flood by any means other than the Rings. In Bungie’s canon Forerunners disappeared some 100,000 years ago when the Rings were fired, and modern humans first appeared in East Africa. In fact the Ark (later changed to the portal to the Ark in 3) would’ve had a Forerunner skeleton that acted as the template for humanity. This revelation that humans and Forerunners were one in the same was revealed to be the entire reason for the Prophets starting the Human Covenant War in Contact Harvest. Watch C3Sabertooth’s video We Were Forerunner. It’s really good and has overwhelming proof that 343 retconned it.
It still pains me to remember that the didact was composed off screen in a relatively unknown and unread comic with very questionable plot logic and artwork.

One of the biggest mistakes that 343 made was not having the Forerunners be more of a threat in the Reclaimer Trilogy. While the Didact did serve as that in Halo 4, it was short lived, unfulfilling, and a waste of potential.

I'm very confused. It's been so many years since I played through the 343 era halo's and despite how confusing they were to play, I distinctly remember we killed the Didact. We see him die. So what's all this with him being alive again? And why does 343 restrict all the lore to some books? I've never even met a halo fan that's read them. Is it non-canon by a 3rd party, or is 343 writing them? Maybe they should focus on making video games if so XD
He survived 4 then got defeated in the escalation comics in a very stupid way and was MIA til this book.
You don't see him die in the game. You just see a grenade explode point blank on him, which damages and then knocks him into the Composer's beam. Like noted above, he's shown to have survived that and appeared in a comic run, defeated in a braindead way, fucks off into who knows where.

Chakas from the forum net trilogy, he’s just a composed human though not apart of the forerunner species, just a human essence placed in forerunner construct through technology.
The Original Librarian was confirmed as KIA after the Iso-Didact fired the array the first time. But her imprint both physical and domain-bound are intact, her physical imprint was give to Chant To Green who is alive as of Promises to keep and Spark found her aspect imprint under Mt. Kilimanjaro at the end of Renegades, also Rion Forge has had a geas imprinted on her genetically and has “dreams” of the Original Librarian on Path Kethona tending the precursor plants

I do not want to have to find out through means of comics, limited edition games/ events and books for the story. This is 343 problem.... and a management issue, no wonder people hate the story now. What I don't like is when consumption of other media (books and tv) is necessary to understand the plot of the main game which is why I despise Halo 5's joke of a storyline.

Since humanity was a space faring race couldn't they also still be around. Some could have gone a different way. How come we could beset up to have gone in the 4 directions, North, South, East and West. Like the forerunners humanity could have gone a different way to keep our species in tact. Like the forerunners who could have gone in the 4 directions before they fell to the flood. Not everyone would have followed the Lord of Admirals.

Dude 343i just makes shit up as they go. there's nothing to figure out about Halo, even they don't know what they're gonna do next. The Halo canon hasn't been grounded in anything for like a decade+
Hate everything about the "mantle of responsibility" and "reclaimer" concepts, that have become soo important to the franchise. It was a title that was rejected in the 1st Halo.
And why would humanity follow in the footsteps of the vaunted and arrogant Forerunners? When they failed to contain the flood and destroyed Humanity, once? The covenant is still an enemy to humanity, why involve a long dead race to magic up an enemy?
I dont recognize anything 343 produced, made, or had anything to do with as Canon.
If 343 had any sense they’d just get rid of Frank’s retcons and make humans forerunners again, it was confirmed by Joe Staten twice in 2007 ffs.
Unfortunately, that retcon is instrumental to so much of the new lore. To change it back you’d have to reboot the series and rework a lot of the old and new lore to make it fit.
