It seems like a lot less of a headache to just use an ultrasonic coolmist humidifier unit that you pick up from somewhere and put it in there instead of filling the bottom with water. Sure you will have to refill it all the time but you might be able to rig something if you find a unit that allows for top fill

The Galvinizer You are correct. I have gotten an external humidifier a few months ago, there is an update video on my channel.

@@TheBonsaiJungle ah right on. hey while i have your attention: do you use azoxystrobin on nepenthes? can it be used on all carno plants?

The Galvinizer I have not used it on nepenthes but the action of the azoxystrobin is the same for all carn. Plants. I’ve used it on sundews, heliamphora, sarracenia, and vft. Don’t see why it wouldn’t work for the nepenthes.

How would these guys do in low humdity? really want one but the terrarium/ high humidity aspect is kinda a turn off.

infamous420 hip hop they will die in low humidity, that’s why I built this whole terrarium.

Hi. How come you don't leave your heliamphoras standing in a water tray?

George Harrison they don’t need to be sitting in one since the humidity is so high with a fogger.

Liguus oh cool. I might try that method at some point

great to see an update, whats the humidity and temp in there? i have a pretty similar setup.

Christopher Lee temp ranges between 69-73F and humidity was originally 90% but now 80% when the foggers started breaking

Liguus Oh i thought heliamphora would do pretty good in 80%... I wonder if there wouldn’t be problems with algae in the water basin and broken foggers if you used sphagnum moss and perlite and avoiding stuff like peat and fine orchid bark. Ive only had my setup for about a week so thanks for uploading this cuz now i know i may have some shit to deal with in the future.

I also thought they would be fine at 80%, but it looks like half of them are crapping out on me, so I guess not. Or maybe it's the slimey cyanobacteria growing everywhere. Or maybe the fog is not getting blown around enough. Idk. Either way, the output used to be 90% humidity so they are breaking down and one day probably won't turn on anymore just like the last foggers. I now read that distilled water is best for foggers, so the algae in my water is probably wearing the hell out of them.
Almost all of these plants are in Sphag and perlite so that doesn't help much either since it will grow algae and bacteria even worse than peat. I might have to just repot everything into sterilized substrate.

Liguus maybe its possible to get more life outta the foggers using it on a timer or something so its not constantly running. I used RO water but dont know if thats gonna make a big difference. guess i might have to ditch the water basin in the future and just use some sort of external fogger. what kind of sterilized substrate are you referring to?

Christopher Lee the new one I bought does say: “use only distilled water and do not run the fogger for 24 hours”. So maybe that is what broke these ones. But the thing is, these would not work in distilled water. The older ones even had sensors on them that used minerals in the water to complete a circuit to sense when to shut off. I did always look for cheap bulk deals on eBay so they probably are just junk. By sterilized substrate I mean soaking the sphagnum in boiling water before using it.
