WOW! Things I never knew about John Force. Terrific story showing the GREAT MAN that happens to be a good racer! His humility and sensitivity as a a man far outshines John Force, the racer.
I was told about your Christmas story, told I would cry. I did. Born and raised in Humboldt County but for the last 30 years I my wife and I have lived on the old Walker logging road in redwood valley on roaring gulch about half a mile north of of the old mill site. Am thinking you are talking about living at Bessie and Charley Moon's place just past Bair's place just north of the of the bridge across redwood creek. Probably will never know. Bin racing my whole life, glad one of us home boy's made it to the big leagues. Best wishes wishes, Doug.
John. You have made a difference in the world John. A big difference in my life and many others. I'm 55 with terminal cancer. I see you out there with all your positive energy and it keeps me going.. Your a good man Force.
How can you watch this and NOT be moved?? Blesss ya John! Your Daddy IS VERY proud of you. You personify greatness beyond His or anybody else s expectations.. Proud to be a LONG TIME Force fan!!
John, you are a great man!!!!!!!!! Forgive yourself for your regrets!!!!! My son, his friend and I met you last weekend! It was their first drag race event ever and they can’t stop talking about it! You are a true gentleman and made such a GREAT IMPRESSION on ALL OF US. We will never forget your generosity!!!!!!
Wow,, when John tells parts of his upbringing you can feel his emotions in your heart. Many of us from that era (I was born in 1947, backwoods of the Ozark mountains of Missouri) have stories just like John's so we understand where he's coming from. John Force is a real human being. He's worked hard all his life to earn what he has, his World Championships, the money, everything but we know he's never forgot where he came from. Loved this video.
Wasn't much of a John Force fan to be honest. Now I am. Thank you for sharing John and that you for letting a kid from Sacramento hang out in your pit back in 1980.
is awesome he had a family back him and stand behind him, i have not had a christmas or anything else with my family since i was 21 and i am 63, we had our disagreements and i left and never went back, and durring time my wife took our family apart and my children left with her, only knowing from what i was told i have 4 grandchildren
John Force, As sure as there is a heaven above, Your'e parents both know how you feel about your childhood and especially this Christmas inparticular. My wife and I have watched this video several times and we cry right along with you every single time. Your parents are smiling down on you from the heavens. You are such a good man. Nobody is perfect. Especially a little boy. We all have regrets. Forgive yourself. Don't hang onto this guilt. I hope you somehow get to read this message. Much love from Illinois.
That John was the most heartfelt and emotional interview I have ever seen. All the best to you and your family from QUEENSLAND , AUSTRALIA. P.S. John Winterburn (STOMPER) has told me a few stories of your trip to Surfers Paradise Raceway. LOL
Wow! Thank you! My dad drove log truck when I was growing up in Eureka. I love him and miss him dearly. There was five of us kids mama and daddy would say there's not going to be much this year for Christmas, and yet my dad would have to tie the tree to wall cuz it was lifted off the floor with presents. Thank you John for helping me remember my childhood, my Christmases, and my dad
You have made a difference in may peoples lives including mine. Thank you. I wish for all the spoiled brats out there would listen to this story. I've got my own story like most people do. God bless everyone that takes a bit of this story and thinks different come Christmas time.
Like everyone else on here , you are our favorite on and off the track because of the underdog factor and because you are one of us. JF even if you never read , Ill at least can say I told you ,My raising and yours are not only similar they are exactly the same ,from our dad's being hard working loggers /truck drivers back when logging was real work , hard work before machinery made things a bit easier , skidding and loading the trucks with a team of mules , we didn't have running water or inside toilets until i was in the 4th grade , you are 8 years my senior , Im from the red hills and pines of n. Louisiana .. Instead of my dreams being that of a drag racer ,my dreams were always becoming a successful musician , both take a lot paying dues ,feast /famine and both have their deadly industrial hazards , my dreams came true ten fold , Money never entered the dream only the desire to do what I loved to do . That log truck you had as a boy I had one too, and I circled that truck in that sears roebuck catalog for two christmases until I finally got it , we were poor but us boys my 2 younger bros. never knew we were poor even wiping our butts in an old hothouse with crumpled up catalog pages for TP , sitting doing your business and look down at your feet and a 6 foot chicken snake is curled up by your feet ,trying to find warmth , Then I left my log truck outside and a damn cow stepped on it and broke my doggone cast pot metal trailer but I kept the tandoms and daddy put a piece of tv antenna for my coupling pole and it was better than a new . Every christmas momma would get mad because no sooner had I oped my present and my new tonka dump truck with that hydra. lift bed , daddy would and I would be taking it apart , take the bed off and using coat hangers and old tv antenna tubing it would bwe another log truck , winch truck if it had dual wheels if it didnt it would in few minutes when we took another one apart and robbed the wheels off it , BTW when my music wasnt paying the bills I drive trucks "log trucks and dump trucks , double bellys ,floats and lowboys , next best thing to gigging , cdl from 1977 to 2008 , no tickets /no accidents I might add ,bragging rights ...... epilepsy hit me now i just drive my wife crazy . Music took me to places and working with talents and legends that I never would have dreamed of as a boy but damn id drag an old box guitar with only 2v strings everywhere id go as a boy .Its those simple times that make us who we are , just never hurt anyone else getting to where you want to be , There's so much more to tell but Ill shut my flapper and just add my favorites things to eat and drink from my boyhood poor days , still poor but happy as hell , ,Are PBJ and fig preserve sandwiches. I used to bring fig sandwiches to school for lunch and kids would make fun of me saying that I was too poor to buy real sandwichs , Id get mad and lay into one or two saying I like fig sandwiches ....love em ..... Being poor meat was either hunted and killed or the cheapest to buy , II still love and cook boiled pigs feet , hog maws , chittlins , greens ,and rice and gravey .......Louisiana is in my blood even if Las Vegas has been my address for 33 years .When I was little we drank water hauled from a spring , kept in a two gallon bucket on the deep freeze with a old tin dipper we all drank from , to this day I keep an old tin drinkin cup so I can get that metallic taste you can only get from water in a tin cup I'll shut up now Ill txt /talk for an hour , wishing you and all of your family , friends ,crew the best that the goood Lord can keep on giving you .stay healthy , happiness is all thaty matters Ed , Becky (who has a pic of you and her from Phoenix Firebird 1992), and Cozmo
John, I give you the highest RESPECT to show your true feelings of how you grew up. I know what you went through cuz I come from a big family also. John I've met you back in the days of street racing in Bell gardens, Compton, L A area , so.bay. I've always been following you and your JFR team and you made an example of how you can accomplish something if you work hard for it and push with all your might to be where you're at. You are a REAL!! Champion.

John, I saw you a number of times, got your signature, and talked to you at a number of tracks. I have worked for race teams and met many people in racing. You have always been someone that stands out and commands attention. I have respected and honored you, you are drag racing. Austin Coil says your a prick, I almost believed him. What you said and told us shows a side no one sees. I now have more respect for you than ever before. You are just a person. Flesh and blood, with a heart in there. Love this it shows who you are. Also tells your age. When are you going to retire, you prick? Your the best, be safe, fast, and humble.
Wow, I don't even really know what to say. I've always heard John was a really great guy. A great story teller. A genuine man. This story really touched my heart. Life can be so hard, we never forget where we come from and what made us who we are. If I could be even just a bit like John I think I will have succeeded in life, I've got kids now myself and I too want so much better for them than I had. But alas, life IS hard- even now. Your an inspiration John. You inspire me to be a better me, both for my own children and for myself and who I know I'm meant to be. You made me shed a tear, but you've also reminded me of the true importance of life John. Your kids are so lucky to have you in their lives. I just wish I could be the same man for my children. Good on ya John. Your a special guy in so many more ways other than your racing career. Thank you for sharing a little piece of your true self. It was worth every minute
I wish I could hear more John Force stories. He is a remarkable man. These kinds of stories mean so much more than those of his career- even though they are so interesting- these types of stories are so heart felt, so grounding. We could all learn a lot from John and the way he see's the world. Thanks again, John
