Jump onboard and be dazzled by the spectacular scenery and the amazing skills the local bus drivers display to negotiate the tight twisting roads of the Amalfi Coast.
The first time i was in italy i remember how confused i was the first time the driver started honking around every corner but i didn't think about it that much until i saw that there's literally zero room for error on those turns with other cars and especially buses around. the confusion quickly turned into amazement and admiration of these drivers who are able to handle these narrow gaps and the people there having absolutely zero problems with backing up and having order to it. i truly loved it there and even with a minibus it was extremely tight. quite a nice experience even though getting around was taking long due to the narrow roads. that's what made it special though and i will remember it forever. it might not seem special or even noteworthy to others but to me its extraordinary
Oh God, you've ever been in one of these busses when they are doing that? Their skill becomes apparent once you're a passenger. It's terrifying, the word you think of most is "No way we make that turn".
Yes, the good thing is the people backing up because sometimes they don't at all, I had many arguments on italian roads with people not backing up to leave me room or people driving at 1 cm from the back of my car. I'm wondering how these drivers can handle the pressure of doing it with tourists lamenting they're late for airplane, bus, train etc, clapping at them or inciting them... This might be an unpopular opinion but I think drivers in Italy are more skilled than in most countries. We have to face the anarchy of our cities, narrow and poorly maintained roads on a daily basis. That really makes you a more reactive and skilled driver. When I was in other countries I was surprised how much people panick when driving for situations that are the norm in Italy.
Dream on Sunshine, Italy has about 90% of the population of the UK and 180% of the road deaths ie twice as likely to die in Italy. Car drivers in the video repeatedly stopped on the inner and outer apex of the curves, the very point where a large vehicle needs to cut hardest onto the opposite lane of the road so causing the problem to be worse. As long as there was a space in front of their vehicle they just drove into it without considering if waiting where they were might be a better option to allow traffic to flow. One of the first things you learn when driving a truck or bus is to avoid passing oncoming large vehicles on a curve but, despite warning toots from the video bus, at least three other buses just blundered into oncoming traffic coming around the bend. They all think they are Ferrari Formula 1 drivers.
Seems to me it would be a quicker trip overall if there were traffic lights installed at either end of the narrow portions, and only allowed single lane traffic back and forth one direction at a time.
Actually the Italian govt did an extremely crappy job. Just put several traffic lights for a one lane travel back and forth, and it'll be much quicker for everyone to reach their destinations. But this is Italy, so I guess their govt's road management skill is on par with Pakistan.
I'm impressed by the level of patience and how disciplined these drivers are. Something like this would trigger a fight between the drivers if it was my country. Lol

Reminds me of when I used to drive buses along the coast in North Norfolk UK, accept instead of really narrow roads with cliff walls you had peoples buildings, or brick walls. I spent an hour in a 500m stretch of village in "Stiffkey" and "Cley" village because of the traffic during the summer which was quite regular during that time. Sometimes we had small 28 foot buses sometimes we had 40 foot tempos. I miss those days.... sort of!

Driving sense and good filming was very attractive 🤩👍🏻🌹❤
Hi I’m Tom a top tour driver from Scotland and not enough credit is given to guys like us our job is ways more skill full than that if Pilots Cruise Captains who enjoy the great respect but I’ve had passengers from all over the world express their great admiration of how I drive the Highlands in Scotland
Congratulations to my fellow professional for his skills in Italy I salute you
I was trying to explain the exact same thing to someone recently. Reversing around a blind corner on the Amalfi drive! Sat on the coach on the outside! Not for the faint hearted, these guys can drive!!
My beautiful country 🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹
What is so beautiful about this buses
Indeed! Yes! 👍
Wow Great sir
Excellent
Excellent 👍👍👍
Went their for a family trip 20 years ago when I was a kid lol I remember things being pretty chill then
I live there and take the bus on it almost everyday… and I really enjoy the face of the many tourists first scared and then clapping the driver 😂
Honestly, coach bus driver is the most underrated job in the world by far. Few people actually know the skill required to drive a bus like this.

Great driving
O my goodness 🙏🙏🙏 This driver is amazing ✌️✌️✌️
I love it how all the vehicles are freeing up the space for big buses to pass.
It's the law
@@gaia7240 Really, is it? I thought it was sort of common sense.
@@dontcallmethat7240 well yes it should be also common sense if you don't want to be a jerk😅 but if you are approaching those kind of turns you have to give space to the biggest vehicle
Totally common sense, you wouldn't want to crash your 3.5 ton vehicle into a behemoth going 10 times it's weight
I was in Switzerland once. And they drove as good as those guys. So calm and so precisely
In Switzerland people know how to drive and behave. Nothing like this.
@@mikatu Swiss only know how to make cheese, chocolate and bank with thieves.
Yes in Switzerland it was for sure an Italian bus driver🤪
The drivers in this video behaved well, didn’t they?
Un paesaggio superbo
Love you brother from india. 🇮🇳
I was on this Bus trip in the early 90’s, hair raising but fully enjoyable, the Bus drivers are fully skilled and certainly know what they area doing.

The craziest thing ia that he was driving this big bus uphill
ever heard automatic gearbox?
It is most likely automatic
king defking definitely not automatic
@@stibiumking it's definetly automatic, you can hear the gearbox doing it's things and these busses are all auto now, for better comfort and other things
@@perlamiseriaccia yeah, this looks like an Iveco Crossway with Cursor engine (the strongest) and automatic gearbox (Voith) ;)
Respect to the driver. Hard work
its not the test of skill but the test of patience.....bravo..
I miss those days.... sort of!
didn't expect to see my home of north norfolk mentioned on here hahah, have to agree it's pandemonium in summer! nicer once all the tourists have buggered off.
don't miss the fun video buddy

As a person who hates crowds - I find it terrifying. Extremely stressful drive. Not because it's so difficult to maneuver so tightly, but because you have to drive so slowly, stop so often in such hot weather. From the other hand - the challenge looks pretty cool and rewarding. So as much I hate crawling in traffic jams, this actually looks entertaining enough to compensate for that.
I once walked this road back in the day and reached my destination before the bus! 🚌
Skilled driving sir 👍
Only mini vans should be allowed on this route. 😜
Agree
@@akashjesrani2381 too many turists in Italy..
