You're the third UA-camr I follow, who's bought, and unboxed this box set in a video. And I'm blown away that the "Technical Ecstasy" box set is popular. I first got the LP in 1983, and I think I played it twice in full. I didn't even bother getting it on CD, until I got the Black Sabbath "The Complete Albums 1970 -1978" collection in 2014. And my opinion of the album didn't change much. I only played it right through once. Yet, I actually liked the next album, "Never Say Die!", a bit more this time. My review of "Technical Ecstasy" is one of the album's song titles, "It's Alright". I can't see fans really wanting a box set dedicated to this album. I'm surprised it's doing well. I could understand a box set for "Sabotage", or any of the first six Ozzy Osbourne/ Black Sabbath albums, but I never thought we'd see ones for his two last albums. And yet, people are getting this. Interesting. Even the live in concert disc's set list doesn't impress me enough to buy this. I guess it's a testament to the ongoing legacy of Black Sabbath. And if you and others like the box set, then that's good. But to me, this would be like buying a Wings' "Wild Life" box set... which actually exists. And no, I didn't get it. ha!
The Steven Wilson mix makes this 6.5/10 album to a 9/10 album ! It just sounds more sabbathy !! I agree I’ll only be listening to the Steven wilson mix from now on !!!
Yes, I have a copy of the Technical Ecstasy Super Deluxe Box Set, and the new mixes by Steven Wilson are excellent. You should seek out a copy of the Paranoid Super Deluxe Box Set. It carries a Quadraphonic to Stereo fold down mix of the album, good listening there. I have the true Quad mix of Paranoid on a separate 3 disc issue of the album, there again is a vivid listening experience.
I'm tempted to pick up this set. Guess I should order it before they're all gone, huh? I did have a listen to the Steven Wilson remix which I think sounds great! Also speaking on the subject of Sabbath, there's a remix of the 1995 album Forbidden in the works. Wasn't a popular album among fans so here's hoping the remix will change fans opinions on the record, given the production was poor to begin with. Btw, there's a Rocky IV Director's Cut coming next month if you're interested...
Looks like one of the better SD boxes. Hands down Paranoid is the best. simply because the only one that contains a DVD 5.1 surround & hi-res stereo mix. I also have Vol.4. Not crazy about the Sabotage SD. not sure if I'm going get this one yet. Wish they did a Master of Reality one.
This is one of my least favorite Sabbath albums. The original CD release was mastered weird, the sound doesnt jump out of the speakers it sounds very flat. With all of this said the performance is good.
What's with grown men doing "unboxings" without actually reviewing the music? We can find out the contents of the box by doing a minimum amount of research. How is the MUSIC?????
It'd be great to hear what you think of the Steven Wilson remix, TJR, and yes, a special on the artwork would be very cool!
