- 6-1-2019 Today, at the NY AMRCA tether track the Vector ran 8 laps at an average speed of over 215 mph. This run was on a heavier cable than 10cc gas cars run on due to the extra weight. We also ran the first test of the new "light weight" Vector E4-CF, at an 8 lap average over 214 mph. Thanks to the NY crew for their help today !! It was a successful day !!
I used to drive one of these to work on the 91 freeway. The Highway Patrol could never catch me. The End.
Can some pls pls pls put a GoPro on one of these? Also like a drone shot from above would amazing
I would imagine these cars are incredibly aoro dynamic a GoPro would ruin this
Mac Ward, you’re probably correct to a point. Still would be rly fast, past a certain point it wouldn’t matter tho, everything would be a complete blur
I believe a GoPro only last up to 135 mph or it was around 190.. honestly don’t remember
Weltenesser I’d still try.
@@macward3041 yeah i guess it would be about 20mph slower at least
this would be the deadliest game of helicopter
Just to give some perspective of the speed, the top speed measured was 216 mph, Formula 1 race cars have top speeds over 220 mph. Both are amazing.
This reminds me of watching my older brothers flying a cox engine airplane on a wire while going in circles. 😂😂
Worlds tether ball champion.
You blink you don't see the car do 2 laps.
What wheels and tyres you using ?
I'd definitely slice one of my feet off doing this haha. These guys are so smooth.
Yeah I wonder if it would just come to a stop? They can't weigh much, but you can see it's so fast. Wonder if it's dangerous or not.
@@yescharliesurfs I was also looking at this. The guy was so casual about getting his second leg up on the platform. The centrifugal force pulling on that tether is probably pretty high once it gets going, so I don't know if it would take his leg off, but it definitely might cut you pretty bad. I guess it could just result in the car crashing immediately too. Which also wouldn't be very nice.
Me on the M25 with my 125 as soon as I pass my CBT
The tether near the car will sure induce a lot of air drag, not sure they streamlined those tether's end too.
Great point!
Unofficial is now 217?
Has any one ever let one go on the salt flats?????? This is a need to know.
Are you dumb
I’m joking I love you
This would bs amazing to see
It’s tethered so.... maybe a longer string would be fun?
Forget the tether. Just make it go straight nasty
Killer pass congrats
What does a car like that cost?
Not sure what the point of these are.
Not familiar with this so this is why I’m asking but what if he where to accidentally fall or keep his foot down would he be decapitated haha ? Serious question
Well, probably from his position, if he WERE to slip off, somehow, then there are 3 things that could happen:
1. He would be chopped into very thick ham if the string is thin enough
2. It wraps around his leg and the pole, the guy would subsequently fall with a severe cut and broken shins, then the thing wraps around him and then swings around and rams into the man and break his spine in half
3. The first part of number 2, but the thing slows down enough not to break his back, but the guy would still get severe bruising and lacerations.
Regardless, either very painful death or a very painful experience
No, the cable would hit his leg, the opposite from his head. (Decapitated - removal of the head from the body)
Ok, for this size of car, so the “string” is a 2.1mm dia spring steel wire.
Close to the pole, the tip velocity of the cable isn’t that high so a slicing injury is very unlikely. However, further out....the cable has been known to take out a few birds that happen to land in the infield.
More often than not, something striking the cable sets up a terminal speed wobble in the car causing it to crash.
My dad was was on the pole once when the base started to fail. The cable wound itself around pulling the car onto the grass where is flipped and stopped
What tires do they use?
Goodyear
350 km/h in russia. saw video
Link or it didnt happen
i saw it aswell
you should have a camera on the car
Someone pls compute the rpm of those wheels at 200mph
Atleast 2
I dont know the dimensions of tether car wheels but assuming 60mm diameter it would be 28,540 rpm at 200mph or at shown top speed in the video (215mph) 30,680 rpm.
From the typical range of tyre diameter and ratios used it’s between 20,000 to 22,500rpm
@@allanbarnes8420 what is the tether cars typical diameter?
U don't see how they keep the tires together.
2mph slower than another car that competed at the same track that year but still impressive
Everyone gansa ti’ll the man falls down and cut he’s legs.
Feet off
But can it go in a straight line tho??
It would get airborne
Silly ass way to amuse oneself!
Ain’t noneya
You know what is said about opinions !
Detach from the ground. Add magnetics, a Ridgid center platform and blades where the lead is and you have a flying saucer.
sorry. i’m not smart enough to understand this video. not enough information.
adults playing with toys
Little car on a rope goes real fast on circular track.
Some people's kids, man.
Ah,…who cares?
Pretty pointless. Even the video is boring.
What a tremendous waste of resources.
