I do most, if not all repairs, with tools that I carry around in my overloaded 1997 Crown Victoria Police Interceptor. I perform "On-Site" braking and suspension repairs, amongst other diagnostics and services. My tools consist mostly of Craftsman, a few Stanley, Snap-On, Husky, Pittsburgh, and S&K tools. Scan tools include hand held Actrons, DVOMs, and test lights. I also currently use a Zurich ZR Pro, for advanced and bidirectional diagnostics as well as a Snap-On Verus Pro, for more detailed diagnostics. I'm always expanding my collection, based on need and convenience.

After three other videos showing half-assed methods using brute force and idiocy (I never saw the string ones but I considered it myself) and at least an hour of wasted time, I saw this and five minutes later assembly was off the car and ready to change bulb. Thank you!!!
Glad the video was able to help you out!
It's funny how difficult something is to remove, when you can't get a grip on it.
This was my experience also. 3 prior videos and 1 hour of time wasted. This method worked within 5 minutes.
I spent hours on the push pull method. Then I saw a similar video to this but I didn’t hit it hard enough to create the separation. This took me 30 seconds to finally change the light bulb. Thank you!
Thank you so much for validating the reason I do this.
Yep, saw all the other videos that did nothing to help. This one did the trick. You've earned a like and a sub. Thank You Sir, you are a gentlemen and a scholar.
Much appreciated!
Great tip!!! That worked for me get this ma. A beer 🍺 😂
After fighting with it myself, and breaking one of those clips, I felt the need to help people figure this one out....
Best video for this . I want to replace my bumper myself and held off because I didn’t wanna break my tail light removing it
Thanks for watching! Hope this makes it MUCH easier to accomplish!
😅😅 3:18 😅😅😅0😅😊😅😅😮para 9😅
Another great video, thank you!
My pleasure!Thanks for watching!
Nice! Thanks for the information.
Glad it was helpful!
Great info, that worked. Thank you!
Glad it helped!
great tip thanks for sharing
Thanks again! The first time I tried removing one, I struggled. UA-cam didn't get me far on this one either. It those two little white sockets that grab the two unthreaded studs, that cause the difficulty.
This is helpful, thanks 👍
Glad it was helpful! I hope this makes things much easier and helps prevent a few broken parts!
Does the clip break when you remove the light or did you show that part in case it happens?
This video was created specifically to demonstrate how to remove the tail light WITHOUT breaking the clip. The part number is provided for those who broke theirs previously trying a different method.
WARNING!!! Potential to damage light assembly!!! Do NOT strike or put direct pressure on the 10mm bolts as demonstrated between 2:00-2:20 as the bolts are mounted via a small knurled surface in a thin plastic section of the light assembly that easily cracks. Replacing a light assembly is much more expensive than replacing the bulb & mounting clip.
Care to offer a better suggestion? I'm sure if you have a less destructive method, we'd all like to know!
So what's a better method?
Pop the clip out a little bit first to release the tension
The part you replaced, did you break it trying to remove the light? This is a terrible design by Hyundai. Worked on a friend's car for an hour and I didn't want to damage the light. Had to tell her to take it to the dealer.
The very first time I removed it... yes. I broke the clip. This is why I made the video. Not only to help people NOT break the clip, but to give the factory part number in the event they did break it.
What if it keeps spinning
The 10mm nut
What if what keeps spinning? If a faster er keeps spinning, it's because someone over tightened it and damaged it. Then, it's a whole different problem to fix,
Mine is still stuck wth?!? I have both nuts off, what else could it be?!?
There are two white snap pins retaining the assembly. They are what's holding it. Apply a bit more outward pressure on the outer-most stud.
@@HouseCallAutoRepair when I’m jiggling the whole assembly I see those wiggling.
What do u mean apply more outer pressure? Like when I am pulling on the assembly where should I push
@@fhg1128 push the two threaded studs out, towards the back of the car. The front plastic piece that gets broken is just a straight forward guide. It's the two little white sockets that two ball-headed pins pop into. Some minor heat may help.
I had to put the nuts on one thread and knda push it with my rubber mallet, to pop it out the first time....
Got the screws undone, housing won't pull out. I see the 2 white clips, someone said squeeze them and they'll push inside, but afraid they'll break. Don't understand what I need to do with them.
