    Listening to the original so much. It’s extremely hard to tell if there’s even parts like he’s playing because of how washed out the guitar is until the big finish. I’m amazed after watching a play though how many parts there actually are.

      Well sort of but not really, the best mix engineers have the electric sitting with the mix and not in front causing a distraction, mixes sound the best when all the instruments work with each other, so being reserved.

    Does anyone else struggle to match the effects? I have delays and reverbs in par with his and I don't know how to dial that sound (time based at least).

      68 bpm, dotted eight and cloud settings. Are you using Strymon? Also he does not mention his amp and what mic he is using to mic the amp, 2 huge factors in what we hear on the video.

      its obviously a large reverb maybe a cloud reverb, the gain fo the over is too soft, the delay is 1/8 d at the song time. compressor at the beginning of the chain.

    Tips on dialing in this tone with your hollow body? Mine sounds flabby and gets buried in the mix. Not crisp and phenomenal like this. Playing a gretsch with HS filters

    • @joshrdealmusic
      @joshrdealmusic 6 років тому

      Aaron Robinson It could be a variety of variables. What pickups? What amp? What speakers in the amp? Where is the bass set? Where is the treble set? Where are the mids set (if the amp has a mid knob). Where is the drive set on the drive pedals? Playing and dynamics techniques?
      Having said that. With a hollowbody into a Vox type amp, the bass should probably be happy between 11oclock and 1oclock, depending on how dark your pickups are and how tight the bass response in your speaker is. The treble should be turned up just enough to get some clarity and pop on the notes. Gain should be moderate on overdrive pedals, especially if stacking two or three. I keep my drive knobs at around 9oclock or 10oclock. Also, if the pickups in the guitar are a bit hot, they can sound dark and push the lows in your amp a bit more aggressively, and that can introduce flabbiness and mud, if the bass is turned up too high.

    • @96szilder
      @96szilder 6 років тому

      I think the amp is the most important factor in their tone. after that, the guitar and pickups. try upgrading your speakers in the amp, it helped me a lot. and also you can check out Lollar or Pioneer pickups, they sound amazing, these guys use them, too

    • @aaron.s.robinson
      @aaron.s.robinson 6 років тому

      Mogyorosi Szilárd running a helix through a high quality FRFR monitor and filtertrons don't exactly need upgrading. Lol

    • @joshrdealmusic
      @joshrdealmusic 6 років тому

      Aaron Robinson Running DI with anything can be tricky. A lot of fault can lay with improper use of gain and compression at the board. So many times, we've put our IEMs in and it sounded terrible, and didn't sound that great out front. After they adjusted gain and compression (if they knew to do that) a lot of clarity and balance was/is usually restored both in the IEMs and out front.

      Joshua R. Deal I spend alot of time dialing it in myself at FOH. I've gotten my gretch sound better now but still not where I want it.

    Why does it look like you have to fly an airplane to play a song? I liked it better when it was either clean or distortion. Too many effects. Takes away from the accessibility of music

  • @malachi9898
    @malachi9898 6 років тому +5

      All Valley Media LLC of course you do. Who says you have to shred in every song?... this is for the Lord firstly, not for our liking. Music is used to worship God and subsequently it attracts ears so that people can relate to the music and lyrics

      I think his gear would never sound as good, if he couldn't use his technique, musical sense. I think it's hard to play only a few notes in the right place :)

      Using those effects is an art within itself. The use of reverb and delay fit PERFECTLY in the mix, and getting those dialed in so perfectly is extremely difficult.

      I never said anything about shredding. He is literally just playing on one string. I can teach my 10 year old nephew how to do that.
