    Great job Tiff and Fifth Gear for coming to Los Angeles to meet Rob Dickinson and rip around the Streets of Willow Springs in that gorgeous Singer Porsche. I met Rob several years ago when he was just getting started and he was the nicest guy, uber Porsche fan and super pumped about his love for Porsche's and making something truly unique. For many of us Porsche owner's we want the best parts Porsche makes, so being year specific is not always a priority.Singer has done just that. The best of the best all around. Attention to detail is off the charts and this looks, handles and drives better then the early models. keep up the great work!

      steveobarnes He is pushing it well beyond the limits... Unlike Tiff, most of us aren't ex-racing drivers and would be idiots to take the car anywhere near that level. Driving any car at that level would probably end in disaster for 'us mere mortals'. Even the idiot-proof Skyline GTR isn't a 'crash-free' car. Lol xD

    I've been a huge fan of air cooled 911, I wonder though does it mean if the car is in traffic and not much air is being sucked it into the engine it would overheat? In another word how does the engine manage to suck enough air to keep it cool during idle or city driving in a hot city outside of Europe.

    • @steveles
      @steveles 9 років тому

      We went on a roadtrip once and during a traffic jam the engine got quite hot, luckily the traffic jam was over soon enough so we didn't run into problems.

    • @TassieLorenzo
      @TassieLorenzo 9 років тому

      EVILSPAWN1003 True. They have taken a "modern" late 80s, early 90s 911 and make it look more old-fashioned on the outside and more old-fashioned on the inside, yet they've made it more high tech at the same time. All a weird mixture really!

    • @EVILSPAWN1003
      @EVILSPAWN1003 9 років тому +1

      TassieLorenzo I don`t think it`s "weird". They`ve taken the best chassis from the watercooled era and the best looks from the watercooled era and mashed it together to a "best of" kinda thing. I`d buy a Singer 911 over almost any modern supercar if i had the money

    • @TassieLorenzo
      @TassieLorenzo 9 років тому

      EVILSPAWN1003 Well I suppose. Ultimately the Singer is a copy and **not a real** long-nose 911.... The real long-hoods will always have a higher value and be more special. forums.pelicanparts.com/uploads13/IMG_1970+9111210825465.jpg Mmmmm... Porsche 911, the real version of "genesis" the pure, original 911.. closest to the 901 prototype :)

    • @RaphaelAguirre
      @RaphaelAguirre 7 років тому

      I think it is quite bigger.

    • @ThePlayahans
      @ThePlayahans 7 років тому +3

      because the founder wanted them to be more simple with less driver aids etc.. the 993 has more clever suspension and some other driver aids that the 964 doesn't have :)

    • @alterglobo
      @alterglobo 7 років тому

      ThePlayahans Thanks. I needed that info.
      But wouldn't it have been better to take the chassis and throw away all the wires? I think it is beyond doubt that the 993 has better fine tuning in handling, more complex suspension but basically better kinetics. The car snaps less, it is still oversteery, but more progressive. Couldn't they just use that chassis and discard all the electronic aids?

    • @potatis97
      @potatis97 7 років тому +1

      Probably because the 993 is without doubt more expensive than a 964.when singer started out the 964 where super cheap.secondly it is not as acceptabel to chop up a 993 according to most porsche antiuast.

    • @alterglobo
      @alterglobo 7 років тому

      potatis97
      Perhaps. But have you checked how much a Singer costs? A pristine 993 costs a small fraction of the total amount.

      ***** Singers ARE matching number late 80s/early 90s 911. They take the original 3.6 engine and have it sent to Cosworth to be rebuilt into a 3.8 L . They are just made up to look like early vintage 911s. THey are actually late model air cooled 911s with late model air cooled engines. So the numbers STILL match!!!
