I never played this, but judging from what I saw here, this just represents the dearth of creativity of shooters at the time. It abandoned the "old school" shooter conventions such as no reloading, health pickups, non-linear environments, ability to carry every gun at once and minimal cutscenes. These games put an equal emphasis on exploration and shooting and it was wonderful. Instead this looks like any other of the cookie cutter overly linear and cinematic military style shooters at the time. Doom 2016 proved that this style of FPS is not dead. I'd love to see a new Turok that embraces yet modernizes these old conventions.

TUROK has unique qualities like the really specific weapons you can use, and the environment itself is really unique. fighting dinosaurs (and giant scorpions) with mostly knives and bows isn't a common thing now or ever* and these levels might be linear but it still feels like they're organically working their way through an unfamiliar planet on a specific mission (escaping) so it's still immersive and the linearity makes sense :)

Kvlt Klassic Unfortunately, it didn’t have the same nostalgic feeling when I played this. It played like a generic military first person shooter, and it didn’t bring enough science fiction factors into it, like the cool guns or reptilian villains that Turok:Evolution left off with. I felt this one just didn’t even come close to the previous one. It’s worth a play-through, but it hasn’t been a game I’ve come back to.

Be sure to read this entire thing. I actually have this game installed on my Windows 7 Ultimate PC right now. There is a major bug that effects my system as well as some other peoples systems out there which is known as the Black Characters & Weapons Bug which causes characters to be pure black and sometimes weapons it can also sometimes make water even black. Anyway the solution is to go in the console and type VIEWMODE UNLIT which will fix the bug, however, it will make the lighting look crappy, but it makes the game playable. You can also type in the console VIEWMODE LIT which will put everything back to normal. I have found that the Black Characters & Weapons bug does not occur through the entire game just certain pieces of the game so you can turn on VIEWMODE UNLIT when you experience it, but turn it off when you think the bug may not be active by using the VIEWMODE LIT. The only problem is you have to play with the console command to figure out when and when not to use it which is a pain because like I said I have found the Black Characters & Weapons Bug is not through the entire game just certain pieces at least on my PC that's the way it is. I messed around to figured out which pieces it occurs and when it doesn't by playing with these two console commands. Also this bug seems more common on AMD CPU's and AMD/ATI Video Cards. It seems Intel Processors or Nvidia Video Cards don't have as much issues with this because the problem never seems to occur on my friends PC who has Intel Processor and Nvidia Video Card. Sorry this is so long, but it is a very useful tip. Also do a search for turokinput.ini and find Consolekey= in turokinput.ini and change it to Consolekey=Tilde and save the file. Then you can use ` or ~ to open the console. Your welcome.
Back in those days I would have my PS2 or N64 and think "Damn, I love this thing, it's like having an Arcade in my house with hundreds of titles to choose from." Now I just got done playing CONTROL @4K with RTX on... What an improvement. Also, ARCADE games now look like some PS3 games last time I checked.
This game gets a unimaginable amount of hate and for the life of me I cant understand why. The only reason I can come up with are diehard fans of the ORIGINAL turok games who didnt like the direction this was taking of a more "realistic" trapped WITH dinosaurs instead of dinosaurs being trapped with you version of Turok. I personally loved it and to this day still thinks it has some aspects that even games today struggle to recreate. Things like how the dinosaurs looked and sounded, the animations, the weapons, the story, the bosses (except for the fight with Kane), the characters, and how can I list everything thats amazing about this game without mentioning the fucking KNIFE KILLS. This game is honestly a criminally underrated and underappreciated gem that I think a lot of people look at in the wrong way. And I especially hate the argument of "its COD with dinosaurs" because its a fucking stupid and lazy argument that can be said by just about every FPS if youre going by that logic: Battlefield = COD with big maps, Resident Evil 7 = Spooky COD, Payday 2 professional thief COD, Turok = COD with dinosaurs, etc, etc... I can go on but the point is not every fps with a button to quick throw a grenade is a flea market COD and I will DIE on that hill.

N64 Turok with 4 controls. Man good times. I remember the weapons having alternate firing modes. There was one that locked on and shot multiple target seeking bug robots that exploded.
I remember playing this when i was a kid at online. There were few people, but u could still find some. A few weeks later, i entered and i found nobody. I remember being alone in the online games just running and shooting in the server, because they were dinosaurs in the online too. All of a suden i couldn't enter no more. An alert every time i tried to enter the online popped up saying that the servers were no longer available. That was a hard moment for me as a kid man. Great game.

I bought this game in 2008 when I was 14. Hard to believe people are nostalgic for this as I thought it was bottom of the barrel all the way back then.
This game was great, all except for the god awful controls. The sensitivity was through the roof, and there was nothing you could do to adjust it. I loved the knife play in the game though. Especially the final knife fight with Kayne.
The whole time I'm watching him fight the T-rex at the end, I'm screaming in my head "Use the flares of the shotgun!" (Flares distract and draw the T-rex away, just like in Jurassic Park)
Good lord for the finale everything kicked off to chaos and that final boss battle VS a spacecraft with Kane piloting it was epic even the fight, the most thing I liked about the end was the T-Rex fight to the finish, awesome gameplay, yah did good dude.
I remember being so angry that this game wasnt a continuation of turok evolution when I got an Xbox 360 in like 2012 and finally was able to play this, I got so excited.
I’m glad u upload this a full 3 and a half hour game, with no music and no commentary. It’s actually a lot better. I still have this game and I haven’t play it in almost a decade. I remember playing this when i was a kid at online. There were few people, but u could still find some. A few weeks later, i entered and i found nobody. I remember being alone in the online games just running and shooting in the server, because they were dinosaurs in the online too. All of a suden i couldn't enter no more. An alert every time i tried to enter the online popped up saying that the servers were no longer available. That was a hard moment for me as a kid man. Great game.
Lol I remember playing online in this game. Once MW2 came out (a year after this game- turok) it was what everybody was talking about and playing online

Sees a Velociraptor - lift it's head and slit the throat
Sees a baby T-Rex - stabs it's head, then slit the throat
Sees a Triceratop - slides underneath, slitting it's throat somehow
Sees a Pachysaurus - jumps high at it's neck, slitting the throat in a poor-yet-successful way
Sees a Troodon - kicks it down, then slit the throat
Sees a T-Rex - Rides behind it and slit it's throat
Sees a Brachiosaurus - climbs all the way to the head, then slide back down while slitting it's throat (or neck)
Sees a Pterodactyl - Rides for a while...then slit it's throat
Sees a surprise attack opportunity - Jumps behind it, then slit the throat
Sees an ambush coming - grabs hold of the head, then slit (more like stab) the throat

10 year old me in 08’ used to think these graphics were insane! I’ve been a turok fan since the N64 days and this game was very fun, very linear so I never got lost. I still feel guilty for murdering the baby T-Rex’s lol
Watching this for first time and killing the small Dinos is a very redundant maneuver...throat slash only?.....why not some rib or belly Stabs?...or body slams by the tail?

Awesome game, i keep re-watching this video. Im just going to play it for myself again tbh. I love the way the rockets from the rpg explode. Its like an implosion, sound absorbng, followed by explosion! Just awesome!

I bought this game in 2008 when I was 14. Hard to believe people are nostalgic for this as I thought it was bottom of the barrel all the way back then.
This game was great, all except for the god awful controls. The sensitivity was through the roof, and there was nothing you could do to adjust it. I loved the knife play in the game though. Especially the final knife fight with Kayne.

The whole time I'm watching him fight the T-rex at the end, I'm screaming in my head "Use the flares of the shotgun!" (Flares distract and draw the T-rex away, just like in Jurassic Park)

Good lord for the finale everything kicked off to chaos and that final boss battle VS a spacecraft with Kane piloting it was epic even the fight, the most thing I liked about the end was the T-Rex fight to the finish, awesome gameplay, yah did good dude.
I remember being so angry that this game wasnt a continuation of turok evolution when I got an Xbox 360 in like 2012 and finally was able to play this, I got so excited.

I’m glad u upload this a full 3 and a half hour game, with no music and no commentary. It’s actually a lot better. I still have this game and I haven’t play it in almost a decade. So it’s all good for me to watch. I just wish They should really need to bring Turok back. It’s been over a decade. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
