I remember back when I was a teen, me and my buddy were in Walmart digging through the bargain game bin. We came across this game for $20, and we figured it looked decent enough so we bought it. We then spent the entire weekend playing through it and basically being blown away how a game like this slipped by us. Definitely gave RE and Dino Crisis vibes. Good memories.
I remember playing this as a kid. It holds up remarkably well - the control and shooting mechanics in particular were I'd say pretty much cutting edge. Given that it was released the same year as RE4 - RE4 still had the "shoot only when standing still" thing going on, whereas this game not only had shooting whilst moving but it also had pretty snappy aim. It also aged very well graphically if you ask me.

Hansen's resemblance to Leon S Kennedy HAS to be deliberate. I actually think that this game might be the most underrated game in survival horror history (even though it does have a HUGE plot hole).
Maybe his brain was still secreting the enzymes needed to kill off the parasite when he got infected again? There is nothing that states how long the antidote lasts since it doesn't target the parasite itself but encourages the hosts brain to simply produce more of a certain enzyme that is lethal to the parasite.
this is nostalgia for me, when i was a kid around 6 yearsolds, sit and watching my big brother play this game, after 10 years forgot the name, can't find that game, and 10 years next, finally found it, just because i become fan of Resident Evil, and UA-cam searching engine that help me found it... What I really HATED about this game was that you were never safe. Usually in games u can feel comfortable in the fact that a game won’t spawn an enemy in an area with limited movement (stairwell, small room, hallway) or right after entering / leaving a room. This game is truly terrifying.
Exactly plus the main character literally only survived because of a parasite going inro his body. Imagine a sequel where he's the reason for it reaching land

Meanwhile aiming mode is over the shoulder red laser aiming like RE4. RE4 came out a few months before this game, so im hardpressed to believe they were inspired by GOW. I think they made a classic RE clone and then when RE4 came out and sold well they lapped on the aiming mode.

If the "Cold Fear" team stole from RE4, they probably did from the "Hookman" version of the game, which had been shown in trailer form one year before and indeed did show classic RE camera alternating with the over-the-shoulder aiming system...even though there were no mind-controlling parasites in Hookman, which is the other very odd similitude between the two games.
Played and finished this underrated horror gem TWICE (PS2 Emulation and PC version). I could never finish the original PS2 version due to the crappy controls and insane difficulty. Game was really hard and challenging with an interesting story. Biggest flaws for me were the lack of not allowing your character to carry a few healing items (3 would've been enough), and the horrible placement of save points. Final Boss fight was so annoying (have to be caught and trigger QTE to actually hurt him). Dunno how many times I got killed (likely past 200 times), but I'll say I had a lot easier time surviving in the Mainline Resident Evil games.

I remember I almost bought this game with my allowance money at Best Buy but then my dad said it looked kinda boring. I ended up getting Conflict Desert Storm instead. I’m sure this game would’ve been fun too.
I owned this for every machine, I loved this game wayyy more than RE4 back in the day. The fact you could move while shooting was a big advantage and I loved having to get a headshot to truly kill the exocel residing in the hosts brain. The atmospheric OST and blood splattering onto the screen were nice little touches as well. This game actually freaked me out at times, whereas RE4 felt like a kind of kiddy to me for basically the entire game. Not to mention that Tom Hansen's character didn't have that stupid emo-flip haircut like Leon.
This really helped a lot. This game was really great but suffered deeply from not having a map. Which is weird coming from Ubisoft and even weirder being a clone/ answer to/of RE4 and Ubisofts attempt at Survival Horror.
I think dead space definitely took elements from this as in where the creatures go into people's mouths etc.. Not a bad game maybe just could of done with a bit more work on voice acting and controls to be up there with the likes of re 4 badly needed a map too.

Brilliant game. Totally immersive with great graphics. The developers even had to write a completely new program to make the ship roll realistically. Would like to see this upgraded for the PS4/5 but I’ve gotta admit a fondness for the PS2 days. Great times.

It's all about atmosphere and story, which is what RE4 lacks - yeah, it's a funny game with amazing graphics (I finally gave in and bought the HD Remaster on PS4 - it holds up great despite being 2 generations old), but it's not a RE game. Hell, even the much-maligned remake of RE3 feels more like Resident Evil than RE4: if the characters are not afraid of what they are facing and the player is rewarded for killing enemies, the whole "survival horror" concept goes out of the window.

I loved this game and i love how in different dificulty level there is different jump scare but i am disapointed theres no replay value like no extra costume or weapon but i am glad i bouth it last years in Québec for 20$. The original prise was 3 time higher but there was a mistake and the owner was very kind to sell me for 20$. I had played this game on PC in around 2006. Not all weapon had light mounted on it. And I found a way to edit some file to add light on all of them.

I loved this game and i love how in different dificulty level there is different jump scare but i am disapointed theres no replay value like no extra costume or weapon but i am glad i bouth it last years in Québec for 20$. The original prise was 3 time higher but there was a mistake and the owner was very kind to sell me for 20$. I promised myself to go back to buy more stuff from him but sadly so far nothing he sell i need or want. Yah i like to share stories.
