The buster call can be known and feared publicly while this method is kept secret. I assume that’s why buster calls are still used.
I would also say there needs to be some preperation done which may take a while in order to unleash this attack. There's a reason the five elders said that Sabo has bad luck or "this is fate" that he ended up in Lulusia. My guess would be, that not every point in the world can be attacked this way and it takes serious time to prep the weapon to locations. The world government may have prepped island after island in the last 800 years just in case some of these countries started to rebel against them.

I dont think they kep it secret per se but say this weapon is a buster call. That means that any one thinking of rebelling or going against the WG will fear the battle ships due to the power "they have".

The way Immu's atttck was build up through Sabo's dialog legitimately gave me chills and terrified me. The desperation of Sabo, how he used a normal Dendenmushi so that the marine could hear too. The discovery of the throne with Imu on top essentially changed his entire understanding of the world. I'm 100% sure that Sabo survived and that this event will be his motivation in thze endgame of One Piece. Oda the sick bastard established that the children died too.
Possibly a little revenge for us complaining about the lack of death in previous arcs

The conversation about Vivi between the crew and Zoro was a nice callback to the post-Alabasta when the crew was all sad and Zoro saying if they miss her badly they should have just kidnapped her, and the crew retaliating with insults.
Zoro being cold hearted might just be the most underrated running gag.
Imagine if they kidnapped Gaimon, what could he do? Walk away?

I find it interesting how Dragon immediately assumed that Sabo did the thing, while Luffy showed faith in him. It’s a good display of how the two of them run things
Dragon had probably seen tons of messed up crap to the point where someone you almost raised like your own son betraying you doesn’t even surprise him anymore and he knows it’s always a possibility. He sort of reminds me of Batman. Anything can happen so you play 4D chess and plan ahead.

I thought this was what happened to God Valley too. The moment they Gorosei bowed and said "Who would you like to erase this time?" and remembering God Valley disappeared mysteriously, I put two and two together.
There is speculation that it is from the moon. In enel story we see him studying a painting which contain a ship (pluton), seaking(Poseidon) and a circle with exactly 16 points if you completed it matching the 16 beams.
I think this is Uranus.
Bonney will be our new Law in this next arc. Urouge may make an appearance! I also feel that Drake is not far from this situation.

I think this weapon(presumably Uranos) wasn't used to delete Ohara because the goverment wanted other scholars to see the consequences of trying to reaserch the void century. Whereas the mention of the Lulucia kingdom ever existing will probably be expunged from all books and any people trying to talk about what happend to it will dissapear by the hand of the world goverment.

I think that Lulusia was the original target of the attack, but Sabo was icing on the cake. This explains why they are surprised when Sabo was reported to be on Lulusia and they comment on how unlucky he is, I think this was because they were already moving (an Ancient weapon maybe) into position to destroy the country. It sounds to me that the elders were issuing a silence order to the navy communication team as they are keeping the attack (Ancient weapon?) secrets. Also while this is stronger than a buster call, the BC is a show of military might that can be reasonably explained to the world and looks good for the navy. but this attack is something that would cause way to much disruption in the world and civil unrest as it would only create fear in the normal populace.

In the beginning of the chapter, it is implied that Caribou is not able to hear properly. He said it is too muffled to hear. I may be reading too much into it, but I do think that 10 other characters (besides Caribou) did hear what Luffy's dream is. If you look at the panel in which we see the Strawhats' reaction, it could be argued that the Sunny seems to be reacting as well. The Sunny might be the 10th member of the crew already.
Actually, if Sabo was inside a building or a hideout (which was probable), he woulnd't have been able to see the light from above, but from a window or door. I don't think he is dead, though. That death is too important to happen like this.

@@michaelrlyon8100 For now, we know logias can make body particles spread to "dodge" focused damage. We don't really know if a giant area damage that hits all spread particles could be dodged as well, since the entire area would be obliterated.
Counter point to Caribou hearing Luffy's dream, he was struggling to hear what the Straw Hats were talking about when they were yelling, so Luffy talking normally about his dream will probably be missed.
Also Jewelry Bonney hates carrots, so maybe there will be a joke that makes Carrot being on the Ship possible.

Seems to me, there are two different messages being sent: one with each weapon. The islands destroyed by Imu-sama, are to have never existed. But in the instance of Ohara, with the Buster Call, it's a warning to others. "Do not attempt to know the Void Century!!" lest you be annihilated. The island being left behind to serve as a reminder
Or..maybe, Ohara was in between recharge time of whatever that laser beam airstrike is...since probably it was used in God Valley

The reason why the buster call was deployed on Ohara was to spread terror among those who were still looking into the Ponogliph readings and was directed in the anime as a message as well.
P.S:
There was no need to remove Ohara from the history as they only wanted to send a message.
The fact the Imu just crossed off the island on a map makes me wonder if that is exactly how easy it is to use. It was (assumedly) just seconds later that the Island was wiped out. If so, that could mean that any island in the world could be a potential hostage.
Nah, I think it just takes for a while to set it up and that imu just knew the time the weapon would attack so they’re just updating the map

Jewelry Bonney is one of the most mysterious characters in One Piece and it's kinda strange that she is rarely mentioned in any discussion at all.
Bonney is implied to be connected to several other important figure in OP. She is first shown crying for Ace and Whitebeard during Marineford, she is important enough to be rescued from BB by an Admiral, Akainu was also surprisingly less rough when dealing with her than when he deals with any other pirate, and she seem to have known Kuma personally.
Maybe shes a world noble like Doffy? Or related to the Gorosei? Or even Imu?
This could be the moment we learn more about these topics.
I honestly believe Sabo wasn't actually on the island but rather near the island and that's one way to explain how Sabo is actually still alive most people were looking up while Sabo looks like his looking in an distance.

He's also a logia, so if he was on the island, he wouldn't be killed (Unless the lasers had haki) .

I think Luffy's true dream is going to the moon. This is something a child could come up with, it's funny and it's also "impossible". The crews reactions fit well, and we have already explored that the moon could have a big role in the series.
I think his dream is destroying the Red Line to be able to sail freely throughout the world

I've been super curious what Bonney's story is for a long time so I'm so excited to finally learn more about her. Let's not forget that she seems to have a grudge against Teech for one reason or another and it's implied that Sakazuki has some sort of connection to her as well. That or she has some sort of secret that makes him fear her which only makes me more curious.
And Imu is now firmly established as the FINAL boss in this story. Blackbeard may be the main overarching antagonist, but Imu is the LAST.
And then there’s Akainu because that’s a personal battle.
That is my theory too. (I have been known to be wrong more often than not though.) Luffy says that his mysterious dream can only be achieved AFTER he becomes the pirate king. So Luffy will most likely beat up BB to the title first and then we get to know what his major plan was. And that plan likely is something that can only be done after crushing the Celestial Dragons who rule over everyone.
Akainu though...Does he even stand a chance against Luffy at this point lol

Here's a random thought: Maybe Sabo set up a couple more transponder snails to throw off anyone tracking him. He could be off the island talking to one snail, which sends its signals to a second snail on the island, which talks to a third right in front of it, which sends its signals to the revolutionaries' snail, and the WG will only notice that last signal. That way when the marines come after him, he's already made his escape.

I read the chapter a couple of times in hopes of catching minor details but the Sabo's catch with the light is hands down one of the most observant feet. It is a really interesting to link 16 light beams and Doffy's 16 holy bullets attack. That can be like Celestial dragons's theme of power kind of thing, but I don't know the relevance of that theme so a video may be explaining or If oda-sensei finally gives us a ton of details about their actual combat power. Setting these aside, one of the minor plot points that I was really looking forward for a closure is Straw hats actually finding about Kuma's situation, his story and paying back their dues for his help during the 2 year break. I might be hopeful and think this new island is somewhat kuma related as he was king of an island and may be know some motivation of dragon's fight. I'm stretching here but for the first time in a while I'm just absolutely clueless on what I want and am enjoying the chapters.

Also I really want a cover story with Boa Hancock and Yamato.
I doubt it. He might have had suspicions, but it’s clear NO ONE is supposed to know about Im. Why not mobilize a buster call? Because Im panicked knowledge of his existence is more feared than knowledge of the Ancient Kingdom.

The thing that's lingered with me from this chapter is that the warm eddy current would have to be caused by a source of extreme warmth from somewhere, possibly below...And Sabo's a pretty great source of warmth. Could he be in a coated ship that's underwater, and something happened that sent Bonney up? It would explain how she got there, and in the past I've imagined Fishman Island as a logical hiding place for Sabo and Vivi after the Reverie - if travelling from there then staying underwater may be the safest approach, maybe popping-up for supplies and a call at a safe-seeming island.
Luffy worst case scenario is finding out that sabo is NOT subscribed to grand line review for a hefty dose of one piece content

Uranus is in constant orbit in space & can only be summoned weeks if not months in advance... and then there's the notion that the 3 ancient weapons are all living entities so another scenario could also be like "I'm not feeling it fam, there's an asteroid several 1000 miles in the opposite direction I'd like to mate with"

One Piece has been in my heart for 15+ years but I don’t really delve into the fandom so it’s my first time on your channel thanks to my brother’s recommendation. Sabo was on a snail that anyone could tap into. It being he has been with dragon since he was a child, one could assume he would only talk to dragon on a snail like that if he wanted to be heard. He wanted the government to believe he was on the island, cause they now think he is dead. Oda just didn’t show the part where he overheard them talking about erasing the kingdom from existence👍🏼
I feel like that only makes sense if sabo somehow knew they were going to destroy lulusia no matter what, or else he would've been knowingly like sacrificing one of their allies who just staged a revolution for the sake of tricking the WG. If he knew it was inevitable, then there's only so much he could've done, but its another piece of info we now know sabo has (that the WG has a method of eliminating countries without being stopped)

After closer inspection, I'm 100%sure there's a ship silhouette in the Lulusia destruction panel. It's tiny tho but it doesn't make sense to have that black shape in a all clean thick white line
Maybe a buster call is a way of hiding they use the big bad weapon.
Also, if you have a big mighty stick that concurs all, you probably aren't going to wave it around so people don't know you have it. Ace in the hole sorta thing.

You might be right, Kuma might've use his devil fruit ability for sabo to escape from world noble to Lulusia kingdom and when Sabo was leaving the kingdom like how far luffy was during water 7 the attack came down on lulusia.
If anything this pretty much sets the tone for the story going forward.

My jaw dropped when i first saw that panel. That never happens when i read manga.
It’s worth noting that there were evacuation boats on Ohara for all the non-scholars. This suggests that the World Gov intended for there to be survivors from Ohara (potentially to warn others against poneglyphs), which would probably be the reason they used a bunker call instead of (presumably) Uranus.
Uranus is one of the three Ancient Weapons that existed during the Void Century along with Poseidon and Pluton. It was first mentioned during Nico Robin's conversation with King Neptune, when she says there are three ancient weapons that bear the names of "gods".
I feel like Zoro’s position on the whole saving vivi matter is a bit silly for the reason that he compares it to ace. Ace died because luffy didn’t act sooner. He put it off because “ Ace can take care of himself” the same way zoro is trying to get him to with vivi.
True, though I see it as Zoro calling him out to at least recognize that he needs to explain why he's acting differently this time.
Did you forget that the only reason why luffy was able to get to impel down in the first place is due to hancock taking him on a navyship
Sure luffy might have technically started his brothers escape sooner but any time saved would have most likely went into informationgathering / figuring out a way to get to impel down or marineford
I dont think he gets there in time to change the outcome even if this time his entire crew would have been there.
If anything it would have been infinitely harder (especially in marineford) because he would have to worry / protect for his weaker nakama

Something that was rather overshadowed in this chapter is that brook seems to know arabasta, at least he seems to know some people from there and how it was ruled. Was arabasta maybe the country where he was the leader of that battle convoy? I know it doesn't make a lot of sense since arabasta resides in the grand line and the rumbar pirates came from westblue but still I find it intriguing :)
Brook probably visited the island,remember he and luffy had the same route in the grand line,due to them meeting up in the morian triangle.
I love that there is a panel were the straw hats are saying Zoro is a bully and caling him a "green Kaido", and Zoro only talks back to Sanji, and in the next panel they are fighting in a background
I feel that using buster calls give the people more reason to be afraid of the marines and by extension, the world government as what imu did can be chalked up as a natural disaster in the eyes of the citizens of that world
I think luffy's dream is to connect every island. Reasons as follows : he likes adventure, want to party with anyone, become free to be on every land. It is childish to say that he wants a giant land but it represents how luffy likes everyone.

@@Chrigoe_TV the thing is by that logic of activating the power when Chooper gets knocked out he should transform back into walk point instead of brain point, given that walk point is his original reindeer form and brain point is the hybrid one, so maybe like Chooper that rule applies to Bonnie in a different way or just doesn't apply at all and she just stays in the last form she used

Right, I was looking in the comments if somebody noticed the strong parallels to chapter 217, which contains one of my favourite jokes, namely Luffy's Santoryu and then Yonturyu insult. Zoro even mentioned they sould have taken Vivi by force aka kidnapped her, if they wanted her to sail with them.

I feel like the Gorosei or Imu never revealed this weapon before because it's a secret trump card for them and they didn't want anyone in the Marines or other groups affiliated with them to dig too deep.
For Luffy's dream, I can imagine it being a worldwide party or something along the lines of the greatest feast ever. Idk. I'm ready to find out though.
Finally, with Jewelry, I hope she tags along for the next arc. I love when new people tag along to witness Luffy's power. I also want to see what's up with her and Akainu. I think Akainu is her big brother.
I think Akainu is Nami's big brother, and that after those pirates destroyed his home he went on to follow absolute justice while Nami just decided to draw a map.
In all seriousness tho no, Akainu can't be related to Jewelry. She knows Kuma while we got an implication that Akainu grew up in the slums via some child artwork by Oda
The biggest thing to think about when debating Luffys dream is to keep in mind that Luffy had this dream since the time he met shanks. He didn't know about the redline, he didn't know about ace or sabo or trash part of goa. Can't wait for a flashback to Garp and Luffy pre shanks

Even if Sabo was on the island, he’s a Logia, conventional attacks not infused with Haki or fire’s natural weakness have no effect on him. Either he was on the ship when the attack happened and didn’t get killed or he escaped unscathed due to his Logia powers.

When it comes to Caribou, there was a specific panel, IIRC, where he stated he was having trouble eavesdropping from inside the barrel and couldn't make out exactly what was said. I'm guessing this might be an indicator that some of the discussion between the Straw Hats was somewhat truly private.
I think Robin's reaction was my favourite to the dream, it just seemed like such a look of realisation.
I was thrilled by the appearance on Bonney at the end. She's the Worst Generation member I've been the most curious about ever since she was introduced, so now that it seems we're finally going to get some solid character development for her, I'm ecstatic!
Since Sabo has a Logia, he might survive even if he was in the blast radius. I don't believe the attack was haki infused.
Yeah but akainu overpowered ace with a big ol' magma punch so i guess with enough power, like an island destroying beam, even a logia can be harmed.

Its very possible that Sabo survive because the logia fruit help him. Even though its seemingly show that it destroy everything. Sabo could pull an Aramaki and regenerate from a single candle flame!

Can we talk about that panel with the Luffy face? Because that is now one of my favorite panels in One Piece, period. In addition to being a masterful expression (and everything else already said in the video) it shows in just a single panel just how much Luffy has grown. Not only in the physical sense, in that this is a rare moment when Luffy just looks and acts his age, but also in terms of maturity. Pre-time skip Luffy had utmost faith in his crew/family, and was wise as a result. But the Luffy of the here and now has seen things that were worse then he could have ever imagined, and has to be reminded to look past that and remember his own blind wisdom from before. And for one panel, one glorious panel, he has to think about his own morals and whether to stick by them or toss aside everything he ever believed in for the sake of saving his nakama. And then he shows his emotional maturity, acknowledging that Zoro is right but that he still needs time to vent about it.
I wonder if that panel is the inflection point. Where his future splits between the good, in trusting in his friends’ ability to handle themselves and thus being free to save the world, and the bad future where he drops everything, turns the ship around, and dies trying futilely to save his allies from certain doom.
Sabo also just could be in a room and the light comes in from a window thus he looks aside to this window. But either way he should be fine, because he is made out of fire and I don't think this beam had haki
I'm wondering if the source of the shadow over Lulusia (and the following destruction) was the giant floating object that we'd seen pull the Fire Tank Pirates out of the water (I think around the start of the New-World Arc?)

I'm not sure if the weapon really was Uranus, since the weapons were built to oppose the World Government. I believe that the Strawhats need all three of them to defeat whatever we saw in this chapter.

Thats what your assuming. We have no idea if thats what happened or if enel was involved somehow. This was clearly planned ahead of time with the elders saying sabo was unlucky. Not saying your theory is incorrect, just need much more info
It might be the ancient weapon Uranus and Im is operating the weapon from inside. So basically if Luffy and co manage to get into the weapon they can beat Im.
Liam! Thank for your keen observation skills because I was super angry to think that Sabo was dead. Not only because I'm still not over Ace and how sad it would be for Luffy to lose another brother, but the lack of build up and story telling around this particular "death" had me thinking of giving up on One Piece. Even if sabo was on the island, with him being fire, he shouldve survived right? Unless Uranus knows haki 🤷♂️
1) we don’t know if the attack was a devil fruit ability or the effect of Uranus
2) logia are invulnerable except from haki or sea water or elemental counters
The mera mera was already shown being overwhelmed by the magma fruit of akainu (and oda specify that he killed ace by the fact that magma is hotter than fire and so akainu can harm ace even in his logia status.that to clear up that it wasn’t the admiral haki involved)
We don’t know of the attack had the element power to defeat the mera mera invulnerability
3)the island is no more and even if sabo survived if he was on island he is now in the middle of a sea (I believe that he was on a ship and not directly hit by the attack

I completelly missed the light's clue about Sabo's location... I had a crazy (but in OP mid plausible) theory about a Mera Mera Hot Air Baloon that is probably useless now.
On the praticallity on Uranus (assuming it is uranus) over a Buster Call, a Buster Call is something that can be explained to the public and therefore be used as a concrete menace to maintain the WG's status and power... Uranus on the other hand is something esoteric and unknown that can't be used for this without consider the amount of time and effort deploying Uranus may need. We don't know when the weapon where instructed to destroy the Kingdom... assuming the ex-kingdom is the light Imu decided to extinguish during the Revery years ago (in our time) and weeks in in-world time (at least I assume).
Now that we saw (probably Uranus) and how it destroys islands... can we ignore the weird huge floating stuff Caponne met the last time we saw him and how it had cavities similar to cannons ?

And a little confirm from Oda that Sabo didn't kidnapped Vivi. Since he foreshadowed the sake bottle from Shanks in 1054 as a refference to 617 where the Story goes that.. everyone in Fishman Island thought that Luffy kidnapped Shirahoshi but didn't really instead. Or it still could be a foreshadow for Shanks' betrayel since one of the guardians points in that chapter how Hordy was a former member of the kings army etc. and now that he betrays the King. Could be a parallel of Shanks betraying Rogers ideals. Don't wanna stretch this more out but,... meh we will see 😁

My theory is that the weapon used probably requires some sort of device to be located on the island itself. And that every country allied with the world government has this device located on the island. So countries not affiliated with the world government like wano can't be targeted by that weapon. The device obviously being a secret from everyone.

If Sabo was on the island, it could be possible that he survived. He's a logia type so unless the attack was able to nullify devil fruit abilities, he might have been able to survive

If Sabo does survive it'll probably be a similar scenario as the first time he was attacked by a celestial dragon; he'll be adrift at sea on the shipwreck that the explosion turned his boat into. The question is where he'll wash up. Also, imagine if his amnesia came back. Bruh.
