so glad you're getting out and having fun with your Firebox gear! I wish no stick performance could be achieved with the first seasoning but it does take some time. A little no stick spray until then helps 👍 Awesome video! Just finding this now but I'll do what I can to promote it starting tomorrow. 👍
Thanks so much for your comment and help. It's a fine product. I just took out the pan and stove camping this past weekend and it will be in my next video in about a week or so.
Great demo and initial cook. I have this kit, it's a great product if you follow the instructions. This system cannot be initially seasoned in the field. I did 4 coats per the included instructions and cooked several rounds of bacon before taking it out. I think this has all of the advantages of seasoned cast iron, with way more thermal efficiency, durability, and less weight.
Thank you! I did the seasonings before I went into the field as well. And like cast iron it will season better like you said cooking more on it. I agree it is more efficient, and less weigh is a nice feature.
Just keep wiping it out with a napkin. If stuff gets stuck just boil water and wipe clean. I hated mine at first until I used it heavily for a while. Now it’s pretty awesome.
Great video. I seasoned as recommended before I did my first cook. Stuck a little. I have continued seasoning and cooking and now with just Tiny bit of oil has almost no sticking. The inside my pan is almost black from the coating. Good luck!
Great video! Love my Firebox gear! I have the same set up you have except I added the smaller Cowboy plate as well. Also, check out the folding spatula they sell. It makes a great addition and helps with the cooking. Look forward to more videos!
You left the spoon on the dirty ground and used it to stir the food on the pan. You left the top cover facing down picking some fine sand and covered the food again. You loved to eat this way.
Yep, I did place the cover and spoon on the rock. Probably, picked up some dirt, too! That's why it's called camping. A little dirt never hurt me! Adds flavor! 🤣

New subscriber. Great video. Does anyone know if the firebox nano can produce the constant heat required to cook in this. I'm thinking chicken and pork for the temperature to eat safely. Thanks.
I use warm water and sometimes a tad of dish sap if necessary to get the smell out. But never use steel wool as it can scrape off the seasoning. A sponge works with a slight grit to it. If out in the field for days then bring some dish soap or camp soap and sponge.
What ? No fabulous " FOON TONGS " ?! Did I hear You say plant based bacon ?!! Ok ,, I'm going to have to have it ... hand it over , I'm going to have to tear a corner off Your Man card !!!!
Okay so I tried seasoning the pan x3 1st time followed instructions, but I might have added too much olive oil. Results was more brownish with patches of rust colored orange (more like maroon) Tried again but this time lighter coat of different cooking oil. Did not see a noticable improvement. 3rd time used lite coat of crisco. And again no noticable improvement. I haven't cooked on it, but wondering if I should continue trying to season or contact firebox? I already contacted them btw and they suggested continue to season. I'm hoping that it will eventually work, but I don't know. Any suggestions? Thanks again for your help.
So, they recommended vegetable oil or canola oil. I used vegetable and it was fine. Did you heat it in the oven 3 times letting it cool before heated again?
@@beartug I would send a message to Steve at firebox stove channel or go to his website and get info or maybe phone number. I bet he can help you. Let me know how it turns out.
The term “Plant based” and “bacon” are two things that shouldn’t coexist together… I just gotta have the real stuff. Firebox makes awesome cooking gear! When cooking outdoors, we can’t pick and choose the weather. Having the cowboy plate lid to cover, the pan is useful in so many ways. Your fire was also protected.
Thanks for a well Thought Out Video...!! Loved it..!! But I wish You would Have Listed the Purchase / Contact Points.... In the Description Below. Please Keep the Videos Coming..! BillinL.A. 11-14-21.

I would probably think so. You can check out firebox stove videos. I believe I've seen him use the nano.
How do you clean after you get home? And suppose you are in the field for more than a day?
