You are giving those boys such an enriched life/upbringing. They will truly be citizens of the world with an immense understanding and appreciation for so many different cultures and walks of life. Well done. 🙂❤️
Those children need to be in public school so they can sit in chairs all day and have the misiinformation flushed from their heads by state-approved agents from the Ministry of Truth.
@@bethb7965 they definitely aren't getting an education from these lol yall make it seem like they are, they're just gonna end up bratty n spoiled rich kids like they are.
@@ericbattista9341 Our granddaughters are learning tons more from their father in the evenings after he comes home from work than they are from their stupid school. One girl is 8 years old, loves math, and is learning CAD! American schools rank near the bottom.
@@dsbennett I guarantee you that's not true and you're exaggerating. I'd be willing to bet even a shitty American school would teach a child more than a father who isn't home.
I can't imagine the vibe of the sunsets and the stars. And the self reflection out there. Glad you got to do it. And what an awesome experience for Lenny. Kids need opportunities to do things that challenge them and for them to see they can master their fears or enjoy an adventure. Good for you for giving him that.
The big award goes to Elayna for keeping herself calm the entire time! It was much easier to watch this after you mentioned that there was a safety ledge on the sides!
So much fun! Won't lie.... stomach quivered when I saw Darwin toddling about (cuz I couldn't see that Riley had his hand).... you all are brave for managing that with those two kiddos.... in the end... I hope Lenny remembers what fun he had! Amazing!
I was having mini anxiety attacks the entire time so scared the babies would get too close to the edge BUT nevertheless I THOROUGHLY ENJOYED another La Vagabonde Adventure! The things that you guys are preparing your kiddos for is AMAZING! I can't wait to see what Lenny & Darwin grow up to be! You have truly given them the MOST BEAUTIFUL LIFE ANY CHILD COULD DREAM OF! I think what I would be now had I grown up like your handsome, smart babes & it's impossible to even imagine! They've seen parts of the world that most only dream of! You guys are AMAZING & I'M SO GLAD I DISCOVERED YOU! You should have stopped by & stayed a night or two with us in NC! 💞 Maybe next time! How wonderful is it to know that you can go practically anywhere in the world & you have friends that would love to take care of you! Being brutally honest & 30 yrs older, I dont know his upkeep costs but for the price- I expected slightly better than early 60s motel lobby& loose floor tiles. Very glad you all loved & enjoyed it, I read about it years ago. Thank you & Add 1 to your world adventures!
This is located in Frying Pan Shoals, which is why the rig is called the Frying Pan. This is located near Wilmington, NC and is well known to most Carolinians in this area. The shoals are a random assortment of 0-6ft (1.8m) depths that jut out 14nmi (26km) from the shoreline tip called Cape Fear. Due to the shifting nature of shoals caused by the powerful ocean currents like the Gulf Stream and occasional hurricane activity, the shoals must be navigated with extreme caution. For the scuba divers, there are many wrecks in the shallow water. Right next to and parallel to this shoaling is a deep water channel that runs into the Cape Fear River inlet that provides access to the city of Wilmington and the Inter Coastal Waterway that runs the US east coast.
It was a light station (basically, a light house in the ocean) built in 1966 to replace the lightboats that had been used since the 1800s. It had a 4 person crew that lived out there until it was automated in the late 70s. In 2004 the coast guard decommissioned it because GPS has made it basically obsolete, and it was sold at auction in 2009-10. It was built on an oil rig style platform, which is why it looks like an oil rig, though it never actually was one.
This is wild but so fun! Love this slightly different video from you guys, and looking forward to seeing you with Kara and Nate and then in the Arctic! Thanks for letting those of us who are currently grounded...travel through your camera and experiences. Much appreciated.
Lenny and Darwin are so lucky to have you guys for parents, what wonderful adventures they experience everyday! I also have two sons. (When they were young we lived on a boat in Florida). My youngest is now a helicopter pilot. One of his first jobs years ago was to fly supplies and crew out to the oil rigs near Louisiana.
For some reason I was actually nervous and feeling it in my legs. I'd be freaking out with lenny and Darwin anywhere near the ledge. OMG I am literally squirming watching this. "Will some one grab that kid!!!!"
Stopped watching at 3:37 and read comments from there. The video seems to have a lot of support and admiration from viewers and supporters. You're both braver than I am. Or I should say the four of you are. Safe travels. A memory for sure.
Hey, consistent watcher a couple of years now from Atlantic Canada here. I love the concept and the owner's passion for sea life and it looks like the world's most unique and interesting air b&b. It looked like all adults had all eyes on the little guys at all times. I was concerned to look at all the hazards and then riding the scooter made me super nervous. In my opinion, this place should be for sober non stoner adults only. I think he should make it a lot safer around the railings, maybe fill up the gaps with recycled fish nets well secured where anyone could possibly slip through and make them higher.
Bloody brilliant, I wasn't nervous about the kids. Riley sussed out the ropes. He's too experienced too allow the kids to be in any danger. Does Richard accompany each group of guests? I think it's great to have him on "board", he's got a great outlook on nature and we can all learn from Richard. Definitely on my bucket list. Enjoy your airbnb digs in Bahamas, before heading off to Svalbard.
I love how honest you guys are, particularly about how nervous you were about the kids at this air bnb. It looked like such an incredible experience ❤ thanks for sharing!!
Seeing elayna blog in bed felt like the old days of the monohull videos and it was soooo nice to see how you were processing being there and enjoying it even with the anxiety of its risks! I love you guys!!! ❤️❤️❤️
That looks like an amazing experience. When you mentioned you were going I looked it up. So cool and it was so different from the run of the mill luxury tour, very real and meaningful. It was delightful to see Lenny going from nervous to confident and excited about that elevator! Keep exploring!
You guys are so amazing! That was such a great adventure for you, and for all of us lucky enough to join in your shared experience. I REALLY enjoyed that episode! Many thanks to Elayna, Riley, and the boys for bringing us along! As always, Im looking forward to the future adventures of the extra special family known as "La VagaBonde"!

I’ve read several different types of comments on the parenting choices in this video, thought I’d add mine since I’m raising a boy slightly younger than Lenny and would like to get pregnant again in the new year, so here goes… Thank you Riley and Elayna for showing me how adaptable and brave youngins are! I'm actually surprised the owner allowed kids on the rig. I love the animations you guys used when explaining things. Lol. Glad you all made it off safely.

Hey Riley I've been retired now for like 3 years from the rigs based in Aberdeen but been all over brought a smile to my face watching this one nice that you can show the misses how we used to live offcourse alot more quieter than an active rig eh lol
Absolutely unique vlog here guys! Been looking forward all week to see how “The Frying Pan” actually panned out. Appreciate the realness: logistics, nerves, conservation information and the epic time you guys had once settled in and it all came together. So much more behind the scenes that the vlog itself does not capture, so Really…Kudos on your fortitude to forage on! Adventurous hardly even describes this even without small children. To push forward and include them speaks to the strength and trust of your relationship as partners and your vow to provide the boys with unequaled education of real life experience. I salute’ you both and thank you for bringing us along to witness the world (& even to scare us a bit)! But most definitely shake up our ideas of complacency and normalcy and replace those thoughts with bigger agendas; such as saving the Oceans so that many future generations can explore and enjoy as we so easily do. Continued safe travels as you venture on, We Love U Guys + all you do for us. Lenny + Darwin thriving, such a joy 2see!
Ok I am officially freaked out. My knees were weak watching this entire episode and I realized I was breathing heavy too and I had to concentrate on relaxing myself back down. Not my cup o’ tea.

Oh, I'm glad to see this comment here. I thought I was overreacting! This episode was not relaxing at all... I was holding my breath the whole time. I've been watching for 4 years now, and caught up with all the previous episodes too, so I've watched some intense things you guys did... THIS ONE IS IN THE TOP 5!!!! Gosh!!!!
I have been waiting for this to drop ever since it was mentioned where you we’re going. That place is awesome. Thankfully Elena trust you enough to go along with your crazy ideas.
As a father who used to freak out if the kids got too close to the top of the stairs, I was holding my breath as Lenny ran around on the top deck. Other than that, it was definitely cool. Reminded me of my days serving on the USS Midway, love that flat top!
I'm with you I don't know how I would even zip around on a cycle let alone kids running loose with no meaningful rail. I don't care what they've been taught and they've been on a boat and so forth that is too close for my comfort. I'll take my risks a little more sober ;) God bless 'm.
What a great video, I think I must’ve smiled all the way through it because my cheeks are sore! I just love watching Lenny and hearing his views on everything, he’s an awesome little guy that’s braver than most grown men….❤
Nice! I should go visit the frying pan. hell... I live right there in Wilmington so it's in my backyard. lol! btw...it was originally built by the coast guard. So the top was originally a helipad. Modern technology made it irrelevant for the coast guard so they abandoned it.
You are the best people in the world, bless your family and thank you for sharing your lives with us. Love you Elayna, Riley, Lenny and Darwin. I hope to meet you all. I have been around marine water since a child and learn to row a boat before I could ride a bike. Cheers and best wishes.

What a Cool Dude Richard is. Thank you for bring attention to things mainstream media don't. Awesome they let the little ones be involved. Safety very laxed v.s a Rig. Wonder if Riley kept taping his head (checking hard hat habit).
So glad I get to experience adventures like that through y'all bc that's something I'd never do! lol Maybe one of the boys will become an author one day & write abt their amazing adventures growing up. I'm sure they'd never run out of stories!!😉

My hands were sweating *PROFUSELY,* especially, when the babies were being brought up and EVERY single time that you showed the edge, or the staircase!!! Needless to say, this would absolutely 💯% NOT be my idea of a good time!!! I have had nightmares that were MUCH less frightening than your air B&B choice!!! Imho
The boat driver is wearing a Georgia Aquarium Dive Shirt. They have a dive immersion program and I worked for that program for 5 years. So cool seeing those shirts on UA-cam!!
I haven't seen your channel for about a year and a half after a break from UA-cam and OMG I had no idea you had another baby, and Lenny is absolutely gorgeous. Y'all are still one of the best channels on here.
Having worked offshore (Gulf of Mexico) right out of high school, I think it's a great experience that most people will never get to experience in their life. All seasons, all types of weather, all hours of the day and night. Sunrises, Sunsets, the sky, the clouds, the water. Nothing like the North Sea which I never experienced or other extreme locations in the world. The Gulf was more than enough for me. Dangerous, and exciting all at the same time. Hard workers out on those platforms. We worked hard and played hard (when back on shore). With this being an AirBnB (?), I'd do it too. Not sure I'd bring kids but they'll never forget this experience. Enjoy the time there.
Interesting episode, but it’s a shame you didn’t learn the history of Frying Pan Tower before your visit. Most importantly, it’s not an abandoned oil rig as you mentioned several times - it’s an abandoned light tower operated by the Coast Guard for many years, marking the treacherous Frying Pan Shoals for mariners like yourselves. You owe it to your viewers and to the hundreds of Coasties who served there to get the story right.
I am deathly afraid of heights, to the point that when our kids were little i could not watch them climb up a slide😩 .. and I have to say when Elaina was on the steps i was nauseated 🤮
I’ve been watching you two off and on from the beginning. I live in Wilmington, NC and grew up fishing around the tower. Still go often. I am so happy to see you two discovered our little piece of paradise. Safe travels!
Guys this was awesome I've recently developed a fear of heights much to sadness...... but the whole time my hands were sweating watching in fear but smiling with excitement thanks so much fam
If I was the owner of the hotel I’d be so worried about liabilities especially, if there are kids involved If I was the mom I would not even dare take the kids. That’s just me I’m such a worry wart. 😰
I spent my 20’s at sea (ships RO). Did some time offshore oil and gas exploration. The marine wildlife off the Aussie coast was incredible (but NO fishing allowed as it may snag the drilling operations etc). Fishing off the floating production facilities I worked on (Timor Sea) WAS allowed and the lads always went home to Darwin with coolers packed with fish! What a great experience for the kids!! Great video.
Three words. LEASHES FOR KIDS. OMG. You guys kept your anxiety under control better than I , just the mom in me having a little heart attack over here. Holy shit.

I'm actually surprised the owner allowed kids on the rig. I love the animations you guys used when explaining things. Lol. Glad you all made it off safely.
I have followed this place for years. Even before he purchased it. It has been an amazing place and I am so excited you got to go there and show everybody how beautiful it is out there!!! Thank you!! It is a hidden gem for sure!
Seems like a great trip, I'd do it! Your boys seemed to enjoy the ride as well, Lenny would absolutely love Ziplining, which might seem a tad tame after the ride from the Air B&B.
Hey Riley I've been retired now for like 3 years from the rigs based in Aberdeen but been all over brought a smile to my face watching this one nice that you can show the misses how we used to live offcourse alot more quieter than an active rig eh lol
It was nothing glamorous been on some rust buckets lol
Well stated, my friend. My feelings, as well. 👍✌️
Great to see you getting out on new adventures! and Riley reliving a bit of his past. Much love from SF
Ok I am officially freaked out. My knees were weak watching this entire episode and I realized I was breathing heavy too and I had to concentrate on relaxing myself back down. Not my cup o’ tea.
Yeah I’m so glad we did it but I might not go back anytime soon hahaha (or at least I won’t be with the kids 😬😬) lol
Me to fire on top Where's the life rafts no got to say 1st and only post I was having mummy nervous break down no not for me and iv watched 4 years never missed one loved every one not this one
Awesome trip!!!
Gosh!!!!
I dont think that was a place for children. I think you put them in harms way. That was not a kid friendly trip.
These kids live on a yacht. They have "boundaries " drummed into them from birth.
I just love watching Lenny and hearing his views on everything, he’s an awesome little guy that’s braver than most grown men….❤
I'm glad you guys got to spend some time in NC! Hope you enjoyed it!!
Nice! Jiggin with Jordan did a series from that platform
Fun stuff
Nice! I should go visit the frying pan. hell... I live right there in Wilmington so it's in my backyard. lol! btw...it was originally built by the coast guard. So the top was originally a helipad. Modern technology made it irrelevant for the coast guard so they abandoned it.
Heck, I live in Charlotte.
You are the best people in the world, bless your family and thank you for sharing your lives with us. Love you Elayna, Riley, Lenny and Darwin. I hope to meet you all. I have been around marine water since a child and learn to row a boat before I could ride a bike. Cheers and best wishes.
Most cool adventure ever for two young kids 🥰👍🏼
So exited for the videos with Cara and Nate, Im the hugest fan of both of you
😮Wow… Scary… Those straps and metal latches looked a little sketchy pulling all that precious cargo up there! I would’ve been SMP!
I'm glad you're all having fun and enjoying, some rig out there in the ocean. I used to a little of steeplejack work and k n o w how you felt going up and down there.happy slowly traveling towards your new boat. catch you on the next one, thanks, bye now.
6 min in and OMFG my palms are so sweaty!! I could watch this ok if it were just the two of you but with the kids there I'm almost hyperventilating.
It is so exciting to see Riley in his element. The smiles were so genuine and it looked like you had a great time on the coast of the USA.
What a Cool Dude Richard is. Thank you for bring attention to things mainstream media don't.
Awesome they let the little ones be involved. Safety very laxed v.s a Rig. Wonder if Riley kept taping his head (checking hard hat habit).
From NC.. Really glad you guys went out there.. It's so cool to watch the their Cam when a Hurricane blows thru
So glad I get to experience adventures like that through y'all bc that's something I'd never do! lol Maybe one of the boys will become an author one day & write abt their amazing adventures growing up. I'm sure they'd never run out of stories!!😉
Awesome. Getting the kids and Elayna out of their comfort zone! This is one of those vacations they'll thank you for later. Story rights alone... Well done!
Ha! That was fun!! Gave me heebie-jeebies though 😂
I've read about frying pan for years. Richard is a great custodian of that amazing place. This was one of my favorites for the overlapping.
Thanks 😊
I am terrified just watching this! 😮😮😮😮
Aw your children are so blessed to have parents like you❤
pretty cool! (but is it safe?)
It seems safe love it
I was so chuffed to see you lot were going to the The Frying Pan... I knew Lenny wud so love it... I'm beyond grateful y'all enjoyed yourselves... An got to meet the Man of The Tower... Just good people, good times,an beautiful Oceans... Thanks for sharing your lives with us grateful for the opportunity to learn from you both... ✌🏼💗😊❣️
It's so beautiful, but my anxiety watching this was sky high. Little kids running around would have me on edge the whole time.
What a fantastic place. Thankyou for taking us along 💕 what a wonderful experience for you all Xx
What a awesome little adventure 😎
And thank you for sharing it with us.
I haven't seen your channel for about a year and a half after a break from UA-cam and OMG I had no idea you had another baby, and Lenny is absolutely gorgeous. Y'all are still one of the best channels on here.
I am so nervous with your kids up there. Lol
They don’t owe anyone shit lol this was a family vlog, not a research project.
Such a marvelous adventure! Thank you for taking is along. Richard is a Boss! Absolutely awesome and wise.
I had nervous mother vibes, too. I kept trying to grab the babies. Ya did it though, good for you both!
Guys this was awesome I've recently developed a fear of heights much to sadness...... but the whole time my hands were sweating watching in fear but smiling with excitement thanks so much fam
There is no f'n way I would take my children up there. Ok for adults, but too risky for kids.
Brilllllliant LaVagabonde - nice to see Riley on his former home turf - awesome brave adventure with the whole family
If I was the owner of the hotel I’d be so worried about liabilities especially, if there are kids involved
If I was the mom I would not even dare take the kids. That’s just me I’m such a worry wart. 😰
I would be a wreck with kids up there! You are so skillful, and the boys are so game for mind blowing experiences. Thank you for sharing.
a kid friendly enviroment this is NOT,bad choice La Vagabond
They literally live on a boat. They are probably more aware of child safety than any parents I’ve ever seen. Chill.
@@glengamble526 ridiculous statement. Not a place for kids. Anything for content though hey.
Holy shit.
The FRYING PAN IS AMAZING! WELL DONE RICHARD....RILEY, YOU DID AN AWESOME JOB BOOKING THAT B&B, THAT WAS QUITE THE ADVENTURE ✌️✌️✌️
