Funny that I just came acroos this video. We just rented this exact TT for the long 4th July weekend. We are very long time tent campers and want to dip our toes into the RV world. By renting we were able to access our wants and needs without a long commitment 3 of us for 4 days 3 nights was tight but it was a great learning experience. Ultimately I think between 26 and 28 foot with a slide out will keep us in our wheel house of space, towability and price range. I will say this little Pioneer would have been a castle to me when i used to hunt. Something I will do again in the future. You pointed out many dislikes and should've, could'ves but every thing mentioned would've driven the cost up and that is not what this camper is.

You guys are great! Thank you for the pros and cons, I guess you really have to look before you buy. Unfortunately my research has shown that many trailers are built very cheaply ,not just Pioneer but many other brands as well.

I have the same trailer but a 2022 and i have a lot of the same issues. We got it to use on weekends then unfortunately my home was destroyed so now i live in it

Hello Tanya and David. My wife Nancy and I bought a 2022 Jayco Jay Fight SLX8 212 QB in Nov '21 and have taken it out 5 times, 3-4 nights each and we love it. Once we were out 7 nights with two stops. It is a 25 footer, dual axle travel trail and I was surprised that it came with some of the features I though would be add ons, such as electric tongue jack and dual 30 pound propane tanks. Yes they advertise "sleeps 6" but that is not the same as accommodating 6 people leisure time inside for coffee and beverages, snacks, etc. No, in that situation it is good for only the two of us comfortably, and we are comfortable that way. I won't describe all the features, but one is getting in and out of the bed on each side. It's a bit of a squeeze but it works fine. In your search for an upgrade I highly recommend going to a Jayco dealer. There's one just off of I-45 - 14444 North Frwy, Houston. Lone Star RV. If you have ever been to Camping World it is a little south of there. Happy Camping! Peter

We just traded in our pioneer rl250. We didn’t have many issues with it but it was not constructed well at all. It’s a miracle we didn’t have any major issues.

we have a 2021 springdale rugged terrain, its been pretty good, i got it for the high ground clearance, i didnt know what to look for buying an RV, i grew up camping with my family in a Nomad trailer, but never paid attention for later on in life for my own....now we know for when its time to upgrade.....

I can tell you hands down its an industry wide issue.....my 2021 Gulfstream 199DD was a train wrecker after about a month of owning. I rebuilt the dinette (staples into 2x2 with no center support, im 185lbs and just sitting fell through the seat lol) our roof leaked from the factory which I missed on walk through, which rotted out of floor and part of the wall ( repaired under warranty and I tested multiple times for mold to be sure) MANY loose screws, staples falling out and hinge pins that fell out. plumbing leaks, fresh water tank drain cracked in half from lack of tank strapping and in the floor hole sheared if off. but SINCE then I finally have it pretty much good to go with no issues...lol...it took a long time going through everything to get it all fixed....great video as always!!

The wife and I have been tent camping together since we were pretty much just kids, 18 and 21. In that time we have greatly expanded our gear for better comfort and convenience. At almost 50 now, I am starting to find our current camping setup less and less attractive. Lately we have started talking about travel trailer options....lately as in 1 week ago after we got home from a 3 night camp.....Your video is very helpful. We have a Hideout 174RK. it has a slide out on the dinette, but it has a step up on the dinette so the space is a little cramped if you are a taller person. We like it with its little inconveniences. Murphy bed and couch with storage on both sides of the bed. two little night stands next to the couch. Huge kitchen area, passthrough storage on the front. Minifridge prep on the back. Restroom with shower, toilet, sink and cabinet with good storage. Good size fridge... Propane/electric. Wish it had an electric/propane water heater. It is only propane. Heater is also only propane. I take an electric space heater when we are plugged in. So far so good. We have our next trip planned soon. 🙂

Howdy guys! We own a catalina legacy edition 333rets. We've had it for 3 years now and we not have any problems with it. Our slide got cought on a drawer handle and our slide got thrown out of line which cost us $225 to fix. We are currently in ohio workcamping for 6 months then we head back to the rio grand valley in texas where our home is. Love all your videos!

Howdy Y’all! 5 years ago we started looking at travel trailers, many the size you have since we love the National and State parks where smaller size mattered. Well this year we decided to look at longer trailers since there may be times where we’re “stuck” inside due to weather (inclement or just plain Texas hot). We got the Grand Design Imagine 2600RB which we love. Needs a 2500 to pull though. Love your videos and wish y’all safe travels!

@@OutsidebySide We originally looked at the 22RBE and liked how much inside storage it had and you can access everything with the slide in. However we didn’t like the fact that the slide was under the awning and the table was attached to the recliners. Happy and safe travels!

Man yall have been really helpful, currently in the works to buy a pioneer 250 bh, i noted some issues when i went to look at it already but i feel like these might be common across all brands, crossing my fingers it wont be too bad, we will see.

When looking at trailers ,have the sales person put the slides in. This way you can see how much room you have . Just incase you can't open them to take a nap or get a snack.

We bought a new Rd210 heartland pioneer and have had nothing but trouble since buying it in 2021. The drains are so far under the trailer you have to get on your hands and knees to reach them and we didn’t know how bad that would be for older campers like us. We do have staples falling out all over the place and our dinette seats are falling apart. The water inlet is not supported and is very loose when a hose is connected to it. When something breaks we just look at each other and say here we go again. Never again would we ever buy a pioneer trailer! Biggest mistake ever! POS for sure. Just a heads up

3500 gvw price point entry level trailer. Never buy these 17 foot tt. A 29 foot couples tt with one slide out is perfect for a couple. Can be towed by a half ton. We currently have a 36 foot bunkhouse tt with 2 slides. No kids. Couple large breed dogs and tons of storage. Weight is 9600 gvw. 3/4 ton truck world with 1200 pound tongue weight

I have has many different travel trailers and currently have an R-Pod and from what I can see your layout is really nice for the size camper. I think you may have more storage than mine. As far as build quality well I think they are pretty much all the same and that being VERY CHEAPLY BUILT! So anyhow I am going to binge watch all your videos to get caught up!!!

I have the exact same camper and have the exact same problems. Wood behind my sofa, where the storage area underneath connects, staples missed and is coming apart. Only room for single person, and has very poor workmanship. Very cheaply constructed. Would not recommend.

Ah so y’all did put in that shower surround yourselves… I was wondering my bh170 didn’t come with it either. My family was like, it’s probably “special waterproof paneling” yea, I don’t think so. Did you all just purchase waterproof panels and caulk them in yourselves or did you purchase a actual pre built surround? If you purchased one, would you be able to provide a link? I need to do ours. Thanks. And hey it held up pretty well. Just imagine having three kids under the age of 5 in it😂 I’m sure mine will be destroyed soon enough. Did your diy aluminum siding fix hold up or has it came loose in other places also? Thanks again for the video!

Many things you don't realize until you live in it. Going to get my son to cut back the bunk beds so I can walk beside them and have him custom build a shower surround before it is ruined. And do some reinforcing in some weak areas.
@@OutsidebySide not sure if u got my message from your rhino portable tote video.....when u buy the carrier for the rhino portable tank 28 gallon.....the carrier that attaches to the bumper....is the carrier a one size fits all.....so it would hold all the sizes like the 15 gallon 21 gallon 28 gallon and 36 gallon will fit on the one size carrier or do u buy a different size carrier to fit each size tank

Its not so bad since I live in it alone, but it has the same craftsmanship issues. Have to reinforce things, especially the seating area.

That's why we only wanted fiberglass otherwise it falks apart. We got a keystone ultra lite outback 2021.

@@OutsidebySide We originally looked at the 22RBE and liked how much inside storage it had and you can access everything with the slide in. However we didn’t like the fact that the slide was under the awning and the table was attached to the recliners. Happy and safe travels!

Man yall have been really helpful, currently in the works to buy a pioneer 250 bh, i noted some issues when i went to look at it already but i feel like these might be common across all brands, crossing my fingers it wont be too bad, we will see.

@OutsidebySide absolutely! I will say though, we started with a 90 something model A frame camper, so regardless of what may have to be done this is by far an upgrade 🤣
When looking at trailers ,have the sales person put the slides in. This way you can see how much room you have . Just incase you can't open them to take a nap or get a snack.

We bought a new Rd210 heartland pioneer and have had nothing but trouble since buying it in 2021. The drains are so far under the trailer you have to get on your hands and knees to reach them and we didn’t know how bad that would be for older campers like us. We do have staples falling out all over the place and our dinette seats are falling apart. The water inlet is not supported and is very loose when a hose is connected to it. When something breaks we just look at each other and say here we go again. Never again would we ever buy a pioneer trailer! Biggest mistake ever! POS for sure. Just a heads up

3500 gvw price point entry level trailer. Never buy these 17 foot tt. A 29 foot couples tt with one slide out is perfect for a couple. Can be towed by a half ton. We currently have a 36 foot bunkhouse tt with 2 slides. No kids. Couple large breed dogs and tons of storage. Weight is 9600 gvw. 3/4 ton truck world with 1200 pound tongue weight

I have has many different travel trailers and currently have an R-Pod and from what I can see your layout is really nice for the size camper. I think you may have more storage than mine. As far as build quality well I think they are pretty much all the same and that being VERY CHEAPLY BUILT! So anyhow I am going to binge watch all your videos to get caught up!!!

I have the exact same camper and have the exact same problems. Wood behind my sofa, where the storage area underneath connects, staples missed and is coming apart. Only room for single person, and has very poor workmanship. Very cheaply constructed. Would not recommend.

Ah so y’all did put in that shower surround yourselves… I was wondering my bh170 didn’t come with it either. My family was like, it’s probably “special waterproof paneling” yea, I don’t think so. Did you all just purchase waterproof panels and caulk them in yourselves or did you purchase a actual pre built surround? If you purchased one, would you be able to provide a link? I need to do ours. Thanks. And hey it held up pretty well. Just imagine having three kids under the age of 5 in it😂 I’m sure mine will be destroyed soon enough. Did your diy aluminum siding fix hold up or has it came loose in other places also? Thanks again for the video!

Many things you don't realize until you live in it. Going to get my son to cut back the bunk beds so I can walk beside them and have him custom build a shower surround before it is ruined. And do some reinforcing in some weak areas.
Simple answer... LIVE AND LEARN!
Lip stick on a pig. However other 17 foot brands are way worse. No roof top ac, no Murphy couch, shitier fridge, and worse construction.
Airstreams don't have problems....I heard they are perfect never leak......lol 🤣🤣🤣

that attaches to the bumper....is the carrier a one size fits all.....so it would hold all the sizes like the 15 gallon 21 gallon 28 gallon and 36 gallon will fit on the one size carrier or do u buy a different size carrier to fit each size tank
