Lack of a red light is a deal killer for me on the Lighthouse lanterns.

Mini obviously is the better choice, battery is easily replaceable. Didn't see that feature on the 400.

The built-in USB cord wires can creep out from the end of the insulation after a while and eventually fray and break. Goal Zero really needs to make the charging USB cord replaceable.

Not really I don't understand you people saying that but I do understand I have one 7 months.
I no see no fray plus I don't wrap cord it I just keep it out

Pianist Anime Her I've had two of these goal zero lanterns and both developed cord issues with fraying. I have long since switched over to the newer Bare Bones Living lanterns with replaceable cords. The previous version of the Bare Bones lantern also had wrap around cord fraying problems, as well as an intermittent switching problem. Both issues were addressed in the Bare Bones lantern version that followed. They got rid of the built-in cord and made it replaceable and fixed the switch turning problem by making it push button. I just Velcro the cord to the grill. Great company. On top of their game and highly recommended for anything lighting.

Yes, that's poor design. The USB cord should also not be exposed like that. It should have its own compartment to be protected, otherwise it will get caught on something and get ripped out, or get cut on something.

With a Micro USB port (or USB C) this can be perfect... I don't prefer built-in USB cords...

'This is the lighthouse 400'. Uh it's the 250... Exactly the same.... You wouldn't get 400lumens off the same design as the 250 cause that heat head you have pack under the crank drive would melt the outside plastic, cause it'll generate heat way to much. 250lumens on bothsides already makes it warm. 400x2 would melt it. (Yes for no brain people. it has 2 LEDs with same lumen output. that is how they get the 1side lit mode ability cause there is a half split plastic barrier in the middle.).
I mean a real Lighthouse 400. Would be epic. Cause i haven't seen battery powered LED outdoor lanterns with as much punch as a gas one. So if they can get around the heat generator from the high powered 400lumen dual LED's. and also make a 5+hour run time with both LED's active. That would be the Bomb..... Till then. Yea i don't think a clone of the 250 but with supposedly just a LED upgrade to 400x2 LED's is gonna cut it. Cause the 250 already has a crap 2.5hour run time on both sides lit. And it has a 4400mah (that's 2x 2200mah 3.6 Li-NMC).
    They'd need atleast 8000mah Li-NMC power for around a 5hour dual side 400lumens.
So increase Heat (metal conductor that also is visible so it can grab cool air on it.), Increase Battery Mah. And also make it abit more solid then the 250. Cause that thing looses it's top easily in a drop. Ballistic barrier plastic is nice. But if it's only being held down by the plastic that is the frosted part of the light area. That isn't gonna cut it.
Now that Micro might be interesting. If it's just a little addon for the Switch 10. People will love you. 100lumens. Over 5-10hours with both sides lit. Boom Seller. Just put alittle frosted coating around the LED's to give a more disfussed lighting effect and it'll sell like hotcakes.

Branden's Outdoor Channel Oh? How am i wrong? do you own this product? If so make a video. Prove me wrong.
The 250/(and 400 they show here). Have exactly the same specs for both. Sup the 400 has 400lumans (Only difference.). Both have 4400mah, both have the 6LED's on top and crank, and 1.5amp usb output with dimmer.
There would be no way for the 400 to work correctly. As also this uses not 1, but 2 of the exact same LED's (so 2 400luman LED's.) would get this extremely HOT on the top. Probably more then enough to melting point.
      other. is 4400mah on the 250 specs (Turbo/Max = 5hours 1side) | (Turbo/Max = 2.5hours bothsides).
      If we put 400lumens and take atleast 40% off from those times. We have (Turbo/Max = 3hours 1side) | (Turbo/Max = 1.5hour bothsides).
So if they double the battery by 8800mah (they have more then enough room under the buttom housing as i removed it on the 250 and there is space enough to fit 4 4400's. (their 4400 is two 2200mah linked together of their Li-NMC batteries.)

Branden's Outdoor Channel Ok let me ask you a stupid question. How does it have 1side light only. and the other way turns both sides on. How do you think this works?

    • @Raptorduder
      @Raptorduder 8 років тому +1

Branden's Outdoor Channel If you're saying 200 + 200 = 400. Yes. but that isn't how these kinds of LED's work. 200 for one side. then 200 for the other side. You are still only getting a MAX of 200lumans of brightness. Not 400.
Now if there wasn't a wall in the center like these lanterns HAVE. Then yes 1 LED would be 200. then activating the other LED of 200 would = 400 of pure brightness. But since they DO. you cannot have 400lumans if you only have 200lumans for each LED.

Branden's Outdoor Channel Let me ask you a simple question. If you put a door in in a room. Put 1 light on one side of the door. and 1 light on the other side. If 1 light is on, while the other side is off. Will that 1 side light shine threw the door onto the otherside?
      Yes or No.

Actually your kind of wrong... I have use LED LENSER P5.r thats 272 lumens.
Honestly it looks like the lantern the brightest, tested in the small bedroom.
So its 200 lumens on side.
