In this special capture video, the Norfolk and Western J611 returns to a mainline leading by itself. October 6, 2023 was the first time in 6 years that 611 lead an excursion all by itself.
The shots in this video are from its second day of operation on the Buckingham Branch, October 7 2023. Watch as the 611 puts in work and breezes through the mountains from Goshen, VA to Staunton, VA.

I had to drive 3 hours to Goshen, VA and 3 back. I was only able to film it departing for its second trip before headed back to North Carolina.

Great video rail trailer! Can you comment some addresses for the 611 chase?

Sure. There is the small town of Goshen VA to start off, next there is a marathon gas station in the town of Craigsville VA (the train tracks run behind the gas station). After that, if you want to catch the 611 going through the mountain, There is a United States postal service office off Hewitt Rd. After that was the Staunton VA train station. Those were all the stops I had researched for my trip. The only place I never visited was the post office.
