Agreed. Software and software support over the life of the devices are points overlooked by most reviewers. Samsung has been killing it lately with updates. People rooting for xiaomi usually do that because it was historically much cheaper than the competition with similar hardware and mediocre software so it had that underdog vibe (which it retains to this day with some) and people loved it for that. But over time they increased their prices to a point its not that different from established brands. Let's not kid ourselves, I've used several devices from both companies over the years and Samsung's UI has matured and is way more polished and integrated with its own ecosystem across its devices than xiaomi's UI that is littered with bugs and even spelling/grammatical mistakes, and let's not forget software support which xiaomi is OK but not great, and Samsung has become so good at this that it matched and recently surpassed even Google in this aspect.
Agreed. People who know just know. At a similar price point there's no choice for me. Samsung all the way. Better UI, always the best smartphone flagship screen on any phone, great camera setup and most of all .. Four years of major Android updates and 5 of security. The only company that compares to them is Apple.
Thank you for making a point that historically almost everybody misses because at one point of time Xiaomi phones were cheaper and they no longer hold that advantage.
Having updates is nice but for me I still rather Xiaomi then Samsung. If you keep your phone for four years then yea go with Samsung but usually people keep it only 3 years. Samsung is full of bloatware and unnecessary gimmick but again that's my opinion. I had Samsung always and never had good experience other than Note 10 plus.
software department and confident on security I bet my ringgit on Samsung, I've owed other Androids from Asus,Lenovo, Xiomi when it's available only online and settled down on Samsung since S7e
Exactly, many reviewers just focus on mentioning the hardware specs, display, cpu, charging and etc, But samsung has a lot more to provide, like DeX, Samsung Pay, those are great features.
I'm using Xiaomi Mi 10 5G now. Over 1 years using it, feels good but software and UI is really give me headache lately. As MIUI optimization is ruining all the settings I've been using throughout the days. Sometimes the WhatsApp notification is silent by itself. Xiaomi UI getting worst now. I've bought my mom A52 for her, and tried it for a while. It feels good already. The software design, fluidity of the UI is good. I'm saving to buy for S22+ later. Makes my Mi 10 as the secondary phone for work. With the software update on platform untill 4years from Samsung, those statement really hits me to get the S22+.
Bought S22, good device. Previously used Mi10TPro & S20FE. Both very good devices. Though I'd love it if Mi12Pro came with, YES, a flat screen & microSD Card Slot. Would've been better..
Micro SD today greatly reduces the speed of a device when used with the fast storage we have. Micro SD should be obsolete from modern phones. Now 3.5mm jack is something that would have been still on phones for many reasons.
@@d4ydr33m3r what do you mean reduce the speed of the device? It's not like we put our games or other applications in the microsd card. I personally use microsd card just to store photos, videos or other documents since it is just waste to put on main memory storage. Plus, we don't need to get the higher storage option too and cut some cost when buying the phone. Again I am not trying to be rude because it kinda sounds like it. Just giving my opinions

If that phone had microSD, she would just put it out and still had the photos...
I've had a really poor experience with the s21 ultra, It just doesn't perform up to the mark, it throttles and the performance reduces by half , literally! The mi12 pro, yes gets hot but not uncomfortably hot but it doesn't throttles as bad! The cameras are similar, And the display is way better on the mi12 pro, I've got no/no accidental touches at all, and the curve is subtle as well!(I'm a heavy user as well) The ui is fairly good as well! The waterproof is one thing but other than that, mi 12 pro is just better , faster and way cheaper in my region, it's like around 170$ cheaper the 12/256 variant
The curved screens are much better when using swiping gestures. I find myself swiping the case first when using the flat screen on my old Galaxy S21 FE. BBK brands really understand ergonomics when it comes to making phone comfortable to grip. I hope the trend of Apple and Samsung making these squared devices doesn't trickle down to other companies. That's the reason I traded my FE in for a Xiaomi 12X and I couldn't be happier.
I agree..Curved glass on the top helps while swiping gestures.. These devices are for those who want to hold a device with good ergonomics and are ready to take care of their device with extra care..

I have decided to choose S22+ instead of xiaomi 12 pro, I was a S7 edge user (phone got stolen) and currently a xiaomi mi 9T user (still snappy but more buggy now). FYI i love both phones. My summary and conclusion (if you don't want to read long) : although I am tempted to lean more on xiaomi 12 pro because I play games, love its features, charging speed, good camera quality, cost less than S22 + but I have to weigh both phones' value base on its price, experience with their UI, and the circumstances here in my country (Philippines). I do not know when the 12 series will be available but based on the stores that sell xiaomi, and the official physical store (during our vacation) their stocks were limited 3. xiaomi 12 pro is more cheaper than the S22+ (big plus for me honestly) but it is still in the category of expensive phone, almost the same price as the S22 but it is WORTH IT for the display, charging speed and other specs wise. i used to be a samsung and iPhone user, but not anymore. been sceptical once regarding Chinese smartphone brands but in the end can't go wrong with it. felt so in love with all Chinese smartphones brand especially Xioami, Huawei, Oneplus, Oppo all those flagship. i can talk all day what so interesting about all those phones. at the end of the day. all those flagship phones the differences are so small to think about. it's not a matter of this phone is so much better than this bla bla. the margin is so small. it's what you need in a smartphone and most importantly its user experience and you enjoy using the phone. for me personally the must have things for my smartphone are 2k screen, super fast charging, big battery, stereo speakers, decent camera setup should be fine. all those need picking like this phone nits brightness is brighter. nah i don't fancy. like I said. it's just a matter of preference. btw I just got my tab s8 ultra yesterday. that tablet is a beast!
When talking about the display, yous should mention the most important part, the Dynamic Amoled 2x HRD 10+ is the best display in the world. Resolution doesn't matter much.
@@faizhabeeb1380 I didn't say it doesn't completely. Full HD+ is just enough. Quad HD eats the battery more, i never keep it to QHD. Simply means, Low budget 64 or 108 MP camera VS High End 12MP...I'm saying about display quality.
Xiaomi was good when they provided great VFM products. Now that they have established their share on the market and the price is comparable to great flagships from Apple and Samsung for me they are simply not an option. Next vfm companies are Oppo which is in the market for many years and Realme. But in this dilemma Samsung all the way.
The Price is way lower than the competition it costs 650$ for the Xiaomi 12 pro 12/256 and 900$ for the S22 not the plus. You will get a way better experience and faster in the Xiaomi 12 pro. Opinions I had it for 1 month and I don't play much and it lasts the whole day unless I play games since it doesn't do so well with third party apps. What do you think?
Waiting for Xperia I IV for flat screen, headphone jack and memory slot. No other flagship options available with these features anymore other than Sony. Using the Xperia 1 II and will need these features removed by other brands.
Quitely due to the snapdragon variant they put in use on samsung flagship device nowadays, not much can complaint about that... Since CEO Samsung Malaysia finally heard our most stressful confession , so quite a great job from them
I just got my Xiaomi 12 Pro and I must say other than the super charging speed the rest sucks! Regret buying it. The in-house apps and user-friendliness cannot be compared to my last phone which is an S20. I am very sure for my next phone, I am going back to Samsung again.
Great video Lim. Although having recently just purchased a Mi 11 Pro and then the S22+, the MAJOR reason why my sim stays in the Samsung is due to the OS. One UI is superior at least for my usage. With MIUI I seem to be constantly fighting with the OS's default of not wanting to auto start apps, or give me notifications for things like my Home Security system.... A real nuisance.
I found that as well but used the china version for its inbuilt call recording and security features (although now added into Miui 13 Global) After going with the Global version i found it was much better with notifications so am curious did you have the same issue?
Same, the MIUI is horrendous. A month having the volume rack bug where it lowers the sound once you slightly touch it. After the update, it was gone but did came back a week or so, got too stressed because of this. I won't tell the other problems but you get the gist of it.
My only question for xiaomi 12 pro is does the software (miui 13) have issue with the battery life? Currently a xiaomi 11tpro user and Miui 12.5 wasnt in-sync with my real battery levels. The battery level displayed is different from how much the battery is actually holding. Took me a few days to calibrate the system to be in sync with the battery level.
My only issue with Xiaomi phones is that they don't run 120fps in all the apps which can make it very laggy. I have the 11t pro and the mi 11 before it and they run most apps like UA-cam, Instagram, Gmail, etc etc at 60fps which makes scrolling social media really laggy. It's fast but laggy.
You need 120 fps only in games...why do u need a 120 fps where the video is playing in 24/30/60 fps.? Just for a butter smooth feeling in while navigating in UA-cam you are wasting battery for unnecessary 120 fps
I watch all your videos since circa November last year coz I've been wanting to upgrade from my Redmi note 8 and I've been coming back to this video every week since the release coz I just can't decide which one to buy 😂 Today finally, at 12 noon, I know and I'm confident which phone I'll go for. I agree with your point here, real life user experience > specs on paper
If you put the phone in a case the accidental touch on the Xiaomi would not be an issue. Both great phones but way too expensive. Disappointed that the display on the Samsung is only 1080P but 50min charging is not really an issue. Yes the 18min is next level but seriously dude it's hardly slow.
Off topic but this comparison reminds me of the day i was obssesed with the regular s22 but couldn't justify myself from proceeding to buy it cuz im currently own a smartphone that supports 65w charging 😂
@@NeuroaScienl yeah it definitely is! we'll see what change will they bring to the compact s23 next year (hopefully bigger battery). Design wise maybe just smoothen the camera edge since most reviewers point that out. Fingers crossed i hope their design don't have huge change lol
Apart from that here in Europe we only get the s22 plus with exynos chip. I would really want the s22 plus, but coming from a mate 20 pro with speed charging I am afraid I would regret it.
Most people are brand snob. Xiaomi has not reached to the premium brand just yet. With the similar pricing, would definitely go for S22+. Don't forget it will have a better resell value after 1 or 2 years.
When doing video comparison, maybe take it slower and longer samples. It very hard to see differences with fast panning short video clips. Just a succestion...
Hi bro. I'm going to buy new flagship, so now I'm trouble choosing between Xiaomi 12 Pro and Xiaomi 11 Ultra. Which one overall best phone in comparison. Which one dou you suggest to buy?
@@manicmonday2468 I've decided to buy Xiaomi 12 Pro. Because, it has Quad speakers(louder than 11 Ultra), E5 AMOLED panel, beautiful design and ergonomics.
I think the 12 pro would be more suited going against the s22 ultra??? Anyway 12 pro looks like a beast of a phone with charging speed and the included charger itself in the box But personally I think flat screens are still the way to go And the idea of real world use instead of just numbers is the best way to review Love your reviews as always!!! ✌️👍😁
@@limyeekhang9156 well apart from the faster charging I don't know why the xiaomi pro would win... let's start with the lack of ip rating for such a high price, lack of distinct features like the s pen, s22 ultra has updated materials like victus+ and clear glass, has a much more versatile 3x-10x optical zoom combo compared to xiaomi's 2x...etc...
Every Samsung I owned died within 2 years. Every Huawei, Xiomi, One plus worked from 3 to 6 years. Not to go in to POS Exynos procesors which are forced in certain markets. My advice, just avoid Samsung. Thry ara champions in planned obsolescence.
my s7 edge last more than 4 year before I lost it and it was still very smooth till then , the only issue with it is the battery life reduce after years of using . Mean while my second phone is xiaomi redmi note 5 pro became too slow after 3 year and almost unusable because of lagging , it was very smooth when i bought it
i really like your reviews and the way you think and also your way of talk!... NEW SUBSCRUBER but for this comparison you should know that mi 12 pro is actually the competitor to s22 plus, pricing and specs! samsung s22 ultra should go against the highest speced xiaomi phone which is 12s ultra .
I have had a Xiaomi MI 11 for two years now. The device is interesting, but the rounded screen bothers me the most, there is simply no logic for such a design to be comfortable to use with hands, it is incredibly clumsy. In terms of new phones, there is really nothing new or different in 2022/23
@@LimReviews Oo so when you are using China ROM no Google available right? If so that is kinda of a big compromise... Btw keep it up Lim, support from fellow Malaysian!!!

i used to be a samsung and iPhone user, but not anymore. been sceptical once regarding Chinese smartphone brands but in the end can't go wrong with it. felt so in love with all Chinese smartphones brand especially Xioami, Huawei, Oneplus, Oppo all those flagship. i can talk all day what so interesting about all those phones. at the end of the day. all those flagship phones the differences are so small to think about. it's not a matter of this phone is so much better than this bla bla. the margin is so small. it's what you need in a smartphone and most importantly its user experience and you enjoy using the phone. for me personally the must have things for my smartphone are 2k screen, super fast charging, big battery, stereo speakers, decent camera setup should be fine. all those need picking like this phone nits brightness is brighter. nah i don't fancy. like I said. it's just a matter of preference. btw I just got my tab s8 ultra yesterday. that tablet is a beast!
When talking about the display, yous should mention the most important part, the Dynamic Amoled 2x HRD 10+ is the best display in the world. Resolution doesn't matter much.
Why resolution not matter?
Compare a S10 with s22...u feel how bad is s22 display in clarity..
@@faizhabeeb1380 I didn't say it doesn't completely. Full HD+ is just enough. Quad HD eats the battery more, i never keep it to QHD. Simply means, Low budget 64 or 108 MP camera VS High End 12MP...I'm saying about display quality.
No enough on the cameras ..no reference to macro and didn't do a zoom test ....
Fast charge...too fast can damage the battery in long run since it's always quick to top up, hope it's last a day n a half
Great review Lim, very clear and unbiased. Good job!
Ελλαδαρα...
Can u make comparison between iPhone 13 s22 and xiaomi 12?
S22+ is my fav even im a big fan of Xiaomi but now i choose Samsung more.
One ui you love
Quitely due to the snapdragon variant they put in use on samsung flagship device nowadays, not much can complaint about that... Since CEO Samsung Malaysia finally heard our most stressful confession , so quite a great job from them
Lim, excellent review!
Would having a case installed on the Xiaomi 12 Pro help reduce the accidental touch issues you mentioned?
I just got my Xiaomi 12 Pro and I must say other than the super charging speed the rest sucks! Regret buying it.
The in-house apps and user-friendliness cannot be compared to my last phone which is an S20. I am very sure
for my next phone, I am going back to Samsung again.
I found that as well but used the china version for its inbuilt call recording and security features (although now added into Miui 13 Global)
After going with the Global version i found it was much better with notifications so am curious did you have the same issue?
How is the battery life in general
@@omarsalim9562 battery life is good. except the battery level percentage indicator giving false percentage before the calibration.
I prefer Samsung Galaxy S22+ because of the UI, the ecosystem of samsung, and the camera for me Samsung is better
Biased towards xiomi
I watch all your videos since circa November last year coz I've been wanting to upgrade from my Redmi note 8 and I've been coming back to this video every week since the release coz I just can't decide which one to buy 😂 Today finally, at 12 noon, I know and I'm confident which phone I'll go for. I agree with your point here, real life user experience > specs on paper
Which phone you got?
Xiaomi takes it. I have never accidentally toauched the screen on the Screen. It's gorgeous.
If you put the phone in a case the accidental touch on the Xiaomi would not be an issue. Both great phones but way too expensive. Disappointed that the display on the Samsung is only 1080P but 50min charging is not really an issue. Yes the 18min is next level but seriously dude it's hardly slow.
Everything about Xiaomi 12 Pro is good except the battery. But of course you have the 120W charging brick
software alone makes samsung better and that flat screen design is better.
Is fast charging speed really all that. Surely pushing so much power to charge quickly is damaging the battery?
i heard bout camera fogging issue anything anything i can get any information bout?
Off topic but this comparison reminds me of the day i was obssesed with the regular s22 but couldn't justify myself from proceeding to buy it cuz im currently own a smartphone that supports 65w charging 😂
Same here. I would buy it, if it had a bigger battery. The S22 Looks so pretty*.*
Nice review bro. can you compare Xiaomi Watch S1 and Huawei Watch GT3. Which one is better?
Thanks for the info. Just a little advice for the improvement, kindly fix the out of focus in the video since it is a bit off.
Most people are brand snob. Xiaomi has not reached to the premium brand just yet. With the similar pricing, would definitely go for S22+. Don't forget it will have a better resell value after 1 or 2 years.
i think lack of IP rating, proximity sensor, and still usb 2.0 on a 1000€ phone is unforgivable, plus that 2x zoom like Oppo, seems like a cash grab
There is stil no comparation. A smartfone is not only a camera but a wide world software.
When doing video comparison, maybe take it slower and longer samples. It very hard to see differences with fast panning short video clips. Just a succestion...
my only problem with xiaomi lately is that some phones with update have bugs
I like how you do your review. Authentic yet persuasive!
When are you bringing the newly launched redmi k40S for review, I am looking forward for your review of that phone
Hi bro. I'm going to buy new flagship, so now I'm trouble choosing between Xiaomi 12 Pro and Xiaomi 11 Ultra. Which one overall best phone in comparison. Which one dou you suggest to buy?
11 ultra
@@manicmonday2468 I've decided to buy Xiaomi 12 Pro. Because, it has Quad speakers(louder than 11 Ultra), E5 AMOLED panel, beautiful design and ergonomics.
The 11 Ultra is much better flagship phone. The 12 Pro is a big step backwards in camera performance.
I want your keyboard.!! Where did you buy that?
0 to 100% battery in 45 minutes is not a bad deal though.....fast charging technology like xiaomi damages battery life very quick
Awesome review. Thank you.
When ure comparing screens, please always use the same wallpaper on both phones so we can better tell which screen is better from here
Better yet, play a full brightness HDR high fps video so we could enjoy the screen comparison.
I like Samsung, don't get me wrong, but right now I lean toward the Xiaomi phones. Nice comparison video. Thank you Lim Reviews.
All points mentioned! You're the best! 👍
I think the 12 pro would be more suited going against the s22 ultra???
Anyway 12 pro looks like a beast of a phone with charging speed and the included charger itself in the box
But personally I think flat screens are still the way to go
And the idea of real world use instead of just numbers is the best way to review
Love your reviews as always!!! ✌️👍😁
i thought 12 pro should vs with s22 U too
@@limyeekhang9156 well apart from the faster charging I don't know why the xiaomi pro would win... let's start with the lack of ip rating for such a high price, lack of distinct features like the s pen, s22 ultra has updated materials like victus+ and clear glass, has a much more versatile 3x-10x optical zoom combo compared to xiaomi's 2x...etc...
i think the s22 ultra shoud be compared with to be prepared Xiaomi 12 Ultra
Nice reviews. Who has the fastest capture in taking photo? Real world photo test specially on moving subject like kids.
Thank you ...which mobile camera better?
Thank you Lim, you really helped me choose
i'm torn between s22 plus and s22 ultra, mr. Lim. which is the best buy? :)
Mean while my second phone is xiaomi redmi note 5 pro became too slow after 3 year and almost unusable because of lagging , it was very smooth when i bought it
I just wanted to suggest to add a software category as it is the most important thing! 👍🏽😄
Hi Lim. Can you review the newly released Moto Edge 30 Pro? It seems like an interesting device at it is priced at RM2699 with flagship specs.
please compare realme gt2 pro vs s22+.which one is better
In UK mi 12 pro 1050£ 256 varient
S 22+ 1000£ 256 varient
Nice review! would appreciate to put prices in USD as its more generic. Thanks
Me watching the video and just waiting for it: he will talk about the charging, here it comes, there you go😁. Man, the excitement on your face😄
Who is trying to make you laugh?
John
Just wonder since many phone mention their touch rate, what is the touch rates for a normal phone?
120hz for 60hz phones, and 240hz for 120hz phones
Can you do a s22 vs xiaomi 12 comparison? xD
Cuz xiaomi 12 is cheaper than s22 and I'm dunno which one to get between them
i really like your reviews and the way you think and also your way of talk!... NEW SUBSCRUBER
but for this comparison you should know that mi 12 pro is actually the competitor to s22 plus, pricing and specs!
samsung s22 ultra should go against the highest speced xiaomi phone which is 12s ultra .
Xiaomi is way superior compared to Samsung, in nearly every Aspect !
Did you even watch the video? Or read people's comments about their experiences?
The front display on the s22+ alone makes it better for me lol
That's the bad part in that phone..less resolution and ppi.. as part of cost cutting
You can remove the side edge touching I also did it and it works no more touches done.
I have had a Xiaomi MI 11 for two years now. The device is interesting, but the rounded screen bothers me the most, there is simply no logic for such a design to be comfortable to use with hands, it is incredibly clumsy. In terms of new phones, there is really nothing new or different in 2022/23
I have a MIU 10. How do compare the camera on each, especially the zoom on them. MIU 10 works well mostly checking on the cameras.
02:09 noce keyboard u got there....what is it?
Well done Lim with another great review no nonsense and right to the point. Now an avid follower of yours. Oh ya, we have same surname. Cheers.
Does Xioami do display out from TYPE- C?
I hope u do a comparison between realme x7pro vs huawei p 20 pro in terms of camera
Lim, may I know, is it that you are using chinese ROM? Because from what I know global ROM sadly now still can't use those fancy widgets yet...
Yep you're right bro. The widgets are only available on China ROM. Xiaomi didn't bring it to Global ROM.
@@LimReviews Oo so when you are using China ROM no Google available right? If so that is kinda of a big compromise... Btw keep it up Lim, support from fellow Malaysian!!!
Deal breaker is the sPen ... big user and it adds significantly to using the device/phone ..
i ordered s22+ today and traded my s21 for it. lets see how it goes..
How is the battery?
I have Xiaomi 12 Pro, the face unlock it's very very fast than Samsung! The WiFi connection as well faster than Samsung finger print as well faster than Samsung, full charge in 21 minutes!
It's a shame that Xiaomi is without a SIM card. Send it to me freely, I have a SIM card that I will be happy to put in it :-) .
Great video, thanks for all the detailed information!
Hi. Nice vid. It would be better if you could include the price in USD side by side with your local currency. You now have an international audience, your channel is growing steadily. Or better yet, why not include price equivalent in nearby asian countries (SG, Vietnam, PH, etc.)
Hey Lim! Just discovered your channel!
Awesome video comparing let me decide which one I should going to buy brother
1:05 start
Fair comparation, thank you
What benefits do you get from QHD screen on a smart phone that are different from the FHD screen? Nothing at all. QHD on a smart phone is gimmicky
No wqhd definitely better
Great review
Samsung: light saber
Xiaomi:memeui
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I'm using Mi 8 since 2018, it's a pretty good phone, but the battery & MIUI just sucks, since notifications doesnt appear very often.
Love Mi 12 Pro for its performance, but I think I'll go with S22+ for my next device
I'm ok with new Xiaomi 11 lite 5G.
It has 0 bugs literally 0 with android 11 and miui ENHANCED.
You're using old phone try new phones. You'll be happy
.
for heavy user, fast charging is really important. You can save time staying on ac wall for charging😂
