Ladies, gents and teddy bears! This was Turbo’s first ever display with a hard deck of 100ft. It was also a “Flat” display, but we felt it was fantastic. What did you think? Let us know in the comments …
It was amazing watching it live but seems even better the second time. Amazing camera work by Nikos, just gets better and better. The bright livery and reheat really stands out in the grey skies ❤️🫡
Good lord, the skill on show here is immense! I hope Blackjack and Turbo are heading to RIAT this year, I would love to see the display in person. Few things beat the feel of that reverberation in your chest at an air show!
Magnificent! Turbo "The Superbo". Heart stopping and jaw dropping. No exaggeration. Max Alpha manoeuvre - my breathing stopped! Flt Lt Turnbull sir, you pulled out all the stops there! Thank you for a tremendous practice display ❤
Great work Nikos, I am what you would call a Yank. My stepfather was a Master Chief Petty officer, Stationed at Lakehurst Navel Air Base in New Jersey for 17 years. he retired in 1976, my graduation year. I spent all of my time I could on watch nights with him, got to play and ride 3 wheel motorized bikes in Hanger 1( Where the Hindenburg was stored and worked on) The base had a landing strip in the rear of base the had a full size carrier deck of the Enterprise for training that was level with the run way but did have arresting gear) , it had a grand stand for viewing, and I got watch my brother practice landings with his A4 before head off to Vietnam. My dad was in Helicopter Squadron HS75, an Anti-sub squadron using Sikorsky Sea Kings when he retired, Lakehurst is part of what is called "Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst." that would be McGuire Air force Base, Fort Dix Army Base and Lakehurst Navel AIr Base. al 3 were connect lands 42,000 acre total back then. there was also a bombing and artillery range, I use to go by myself when I got my License in 74, and just had to show my dependent card at any gate, go to the mess for food, PX for as you say FAGS, $1 us a carton, Be well M8 (mate=
Well this pilot knows his way round a Typhoon. Course he does its Turbo!! 'N' Blackjack.. he has changed the display slightly? Or omitted on a low cloud basis, he left out the slow roll? Watched back 3 times. He went from turn'n'bank straight into max alpha. No roll. I've been learning the display. Lol 😆 😊 sad like that.. So good to see it low! Changes the dynamic's somewhat. We ain't seen the full SP yet! 😮 We will stand in amazement. We will clap 👏. Than ask him to do it again 😅😂 adding in the bunny hop on taxi back to OSP (Whoopse, thanks Nikos). Terrific filming and presented very well. Official RAF Coverage in the future????? Think so. When its all done and back at OSP (ASP) of course it is Nikos, sorry) Turbo exits Left and walks away glacing back at his charger!! Very very cool moment
Oiii oiii Dan thanks for your comments. Yes, this is called a “Flat” display which you can tell by my commentary about the leaping salmon which didn’t take place. I noticed a few changes but there are 2 reasons for the flat display on this day; he does need to practice Flat displays and secondly the ceiling height wasn’t great along with a few rogue low clouds. Practicing Flat displays is a good idea here in the UK lol as it is always emotional. Just a slight correction, it is the main ASP (Iarcraft Servicing Platfrom), it is also known as the Apron or “the main” for short. Don’t often hear it as apron at Ted HQ, usually for civilian airports etc. hope this helps
please look at 12:03 turbos left wing ,is it me or does something apear to fall away from blackjack ? noticed live but looking here again defo seems to be something fall away ?
Turbo performed a “Flat” display rather than a “Full” display due to the low cloud ceiling height. He needs to practice these, especially here in the UK. You can see the full displays in our video catalogue too

See you at lakenheath tomorrow Nikos
Thats nice 😅 18:46
Probably best display pilot since Ray Hannah ?
That’s a great compliment for Turbo
please look at 12:03 turbos left wing ,is it me or does something apear to fall away from blackjack ? noticed live but looking here again defo seems to be something fall away ?
I see what you mean like a little black debris
It was maybe a bird as it didn’t fall from the wing. You can see it falling above the winf area but good shout and we’ll spotted
@@TedConingsby ok thanks for reply.good work on the day ,always enjoyable .
did the new pilot not say he will be performing new manuvers nevr seen before were therr any on this vid
i think we need more low speed fast rolls like he did after the max alpha. aswell as the 4 pointer
in a good way. this comment was meant as a WOW those manouvers would be great to add to the full display. it adds alot of power to the typhoon
