This was one of the most important conversations I have ever heard. That you can be flourishing and have bad mental health. That you can languish one day and then flourish the next, and flourishing is not this big end state to achieve and is a process. This has also helped me a lot with my own program creation on purpose in midlife, which clarified many questions and curiosities I had. Thank you both.

38:30 thats so raw and real and i experienced that when my mom passed away and my entire family turned their back on me. I was ready to end it all because at the time i thought if im all alone in the world then i dont matter so whats the point of living. Thankfully through hard work and lots of therapy and medication i was able to come out on the other side but it definitely wasnt easy

What a profound, humble and raw conversation. Completely second what you said, Scott - Corey’s book is just gravy. Corey’s work and dual continua model is the first thing I teach my students in positive psych and I remember when I first learnt about it from one of my mentors. There’s an army of people out there who understand that you, Corey, have been working in the shadows. We are big fans of your contributions to science and perhaps we need to express it more often - including directly to you. Thank you for this 🙏🥹

I've been following your podcast for a year and a half and I've learned a lot from it, so thank you very much for that. I was wondering if you could do an episode that talks about using psychology in acting?

Thx for this and all you do Scott. I am a 52 yr old recovering addict who is an unplanned father to a 3.5 yr old boy. I am a poor, uneducated, carpenter. His mother who I've been trying with much effort to raise him under one roof, at least has her MSW which I'm sure whoever reads this knows doesn't exactly mean financial security, tho there seems some possibility .. Anyway, I'm constantly wondering what survival tools I can offer my child (that I wont fumble in the teaching) that he will be able to use in this increasingly hostile environment of western civilization. Neither his mom or me have much family so he will be alone. I'm trying to focus on nutrition and minimal technology and some kind of faith based spiritual community. I'm athiest but I see the importance of community and I feel ok with the trade offs religion offers. I just want him to feel a part of a community. Anyway, I know I'm rambling; I'm at work but wanted to comment with a snapshot and tell you how meaningful your content is. It is currently a piece of what makes me feel alive and keeps me rooted and hopefully growing. So thx again. Strength and love.
    P.S. Kennedy 2024!!!

Why only two continuums? Why not more? The 2 continuums provide a wonderful framework for discussing mental health in general terms.
It offers a basic understanding of the relationship between mental well-being (flourishing) and mental illness (languishing). Adding more continuums might help to address more complex issues like neurodiversity. Hopefully, AI can help us sort out these complex issues.
