I think maybe they mismatched the outfits on purpose so that in the store you think "I would have put that top with those pants instead" which then makes you think about owning the set
I've noticed that all the dolls they make with the original headmold have the shimmer added. Gabriella in Series 3 was the only girl with the original face mold and they gave her the shimmer. In the Rockstar line, Lyric was the only one with the OG mold as well, and she was the only one with shimmer. Same with Jewel on Season 4, who was the OG mold with the addition of baby hairs ofc. Now Ainsley had the same treatment. Maybe they have this thing about having to add shimmer to the OG mold for whatever reason. I never disliked the shimmer anyway so I dont mind it but its just interesting to point out.
You’re the only person I’ve seen point out how Ainsley looks like a series 1/2 doll and I totally agree (at first I thought it might just be her blue eyes but there’s definitely more to it than that). I adore the combat boots and I’m so glad that they’re in silver! I too can’t stand the gold and silver mismatching but maybe I’ll paint the gold 😅 My very stained Emi became my tattoo custom using nail stickers so I’d probably do the same with Ainsley (but it’s a shame she’s stained at all)
I honestly feel like the black and white jacket would pair really well with Jade especially with her winter break 2nd outfit minus the jacket. Which is how I have mine styled with Krystal’s black fishnets. I’m just waiting to spot Ainsley in store so I can bring her and the jacket home.
brooke, your enthusiasm for dolls is always such a joy to watch. even when you’re being critical about a set, it’s so clear how much it comes from love and appreciation. even though my collecting-style is so different from yours (i have like five dolls, and enjoy having more outfit pieces for restyling) i still get so much joy from watching you and your collection!!! sending all the love 💕💕💕
I love the idea of a Benedict Arnold character in a doll line. They totally committed to it. You can display her in RH or SH (good or evil) fashion which I think is brilliant. And the fact you can share the fashions with the twins makes this set a must have. Excellent review Brooke!
I really like this set, been wanting an Ainsley doll for so long. She's definitely giving Series 2 vibes, like maybe this was intended to be an older release but they postponed her to be a Shadow High fashion pack. The silver stand compliments Avery's gold. The staining is concerning. I wanted to dress Natasha in black, but now I'm nervous.

I also wish rainbow high had more jewelry. I’ve tried to use earrings from the omg dolls on the rh/sh dolls and they just fall out. I guess the posts are too narrow? Earrings are my favorite jewelry for my dolls to wear. I also like bracelets a lot. I believe Ainsley should have come with earrings and another bracelet or 2 in silver. I had thought of maybe pairing the original outfit skirt with that black top that has the gold buckles and double strapped back. I agree it would look weird if paired with the skirt with white trim. It hurt my eyes just seeing it in screen (haha). I don’t have the set yet though so I can’t be 100% until I see the pieces in person. P.S. I love that outfit you have Delilah in. It is adorable. So awesome.
I think Ainsley is a rare case where I was considering getting her but feel less convinced to get her after watching unboxing and review vids. I already personally don't like the doll itself so would just keep the outfits and resell her without them if I got her, but looking at the pieces up close I think I can only see myself wanting to use 2 or 3 of them :P I'm still on the fence but leaning towards a no for her. Probably for the best since she's very expensive and I just preordered the twins (at an increased price as they aren't available to me except through resellers) and need to put money aside for series 4 when they drop in the UK. x') I'm glad other people are liking her anyway. :) I do hope we get more dolls like her with more outfits, or just some separate fashion packs to get more things, particularly in neutral colours, that could be restyled with any doll ^^
@@xCanadensis True :) I watch unboxings and reviews for most dolls since I buy most of mine online so rarely get to see them in person before buying. Seems like not a lot of shops in my area stock RH and the ones that do rarely have the newest dolls in stock. :/
I would say the second little top is styled like a motorcycle jacket. Really neat. If the difference in colors bothers you, IF you get a second one of her just paint them silver. I really love the turtle neck as well. I think it would look really good with W1 Poppys little bustier. I would also be really tempted to take one color or multiple colors of ink markers and color all the white on that graffiti jacket. I am sure someone crafty out there will do it before me so I can see it. lol. That little skirt with the silver toggle reminds me of Lily for some reason. I would love to see that black turtle neck on her. I think the pieces would suit her well. The goth/alternative look is so cool in these dolls. I hope they sell well because I want to see more Shadow High in the future. I dont think I will be getting Ainsley. I just got her finally on sale for $37 with free shipping on Amazon! I had to rewatch your review to get hyped! I miss her back in rainbow high but happy to partner her with my Avery doll finally. 😊❤️ I just wish she came with a clothes wrack and trunks like Avery. It’s nice for display and storage! She is god awful original priced with less stuff….I think the only other thing I don’t care for is her lip color. Just doesn’t make sense with her color scheme to me personally but maybe will be better in person?

My Ainsley has staining on her stomach and her wrist. :( But I love the pieces she came with! I immediately stole the combat boots and the black and white jacket to pair with Nicole Steel’s 13 dress. I appreciated the options with the mix of black and silver details.
I believe Ainsley was originally intended to be a series 1 or 2 doll & was made back then, but due to supply issues or whichever she was pushed back. It worked out in our favor though because her outfit pieces are so much better now than they would have been if she was fully produced back then. Also I Love the fanny pack too & Marissa is going to steal it.
She may have been designed back then but she wasn’t produced until this year. We can tell when because of codes on the body, body and face changes over time, paint technique and leaks

I finally got Ainsley couple weeks back at Target for under $30👍 But have not open box yet, crossing fingers she does not have stains on her body🫣 As for the twins I really want to get them too😉
Dunno if you got the twins yet but in the store I was able to price match Target's online price and nab them for $35. And despite being price matched I still was able to take advantage of the toy sale going on.

I'm obsessed with this set. The fashions are on point, I'm finally getting the dark stylish clothes I've been wanting all along. I must say that the Ainsley doll is a let down though. She's basically a S1 doll. The face mold, the excessive highlighter, the metallic nylon AND the rainbow eyeshadow...she's not it IMO.
I feel like making her a shadow high doll was clearly a last minute decision, there’s nothing about her that’s shadow high. She doesn’t even have a shadow high stand!
I don't think it's last minute necessarily. I think it's more to satisfy people who wanted an RH version of Ainsley. I assume there will be a Shadow High version coming

If you do the stand the “correct way” it only fits an EXACT type of shoe without making the doll awkwardly float. I don’t like it. I’ve been collecting these since the beginning and have never preferred that way because it sucks that way
the ONE time when the doll’s hair is darker than her show version and it has to be ainsley 😭😭😭. Her hair should’ve been that beautiful magenta / plum hair color not black and indigo 😭. I like her pieces separately but not with the intended looks ( the ones in the artworks) but there’s no pieces that i’m absolutely in love with and i wish her top had those safety pins embroidered on 😭 ( i understand they cant do actual safety pins bc kids) but yeah not in love with her slightly disappointed so definitely waiting for a sale to get her 😭 happy for others who love her she just isn’t top priority for me. Love her make up though

Not only would that be an insanely difficult task to not screw up but it would also fall off because that material doesn’t take paint well
