  • In this video tutorial we will discover the 3 ways to recover data from your MacBook 💻.
Try Disk Drill for free: www.cleverfiles.com/downloads...
    Timestamps:
Way 1: Professional Data Recovery Service 01:08
Way 2: Time Machine Backup & Tutorial 02:28
Way 3: Data Recovery Software & Tutorial 04:24
When you delete a file it's not actually gone. It's just hidden by the computer waiting to be overwritten by another file or whatever later on down the line. So if you just deleted something on your MacBook Pro, MacBook MacBook Air, whatever you've got, what I advise to do is stop using it stop using your Mac as much as possible. This will Be the best chances of not overriding the files and therefore having the best chance of getting them back in the future. So if you just deleted something stop using your Mac until you have a chance to run these three methods on your MacBook.
Method 1: So the first one is going to be using a professional file recovery service to actually recover your files from your MacBook not by yourself.
Method 2: This brings me into method number two, which is using Time Machine. In order to recover with Time Machine, all you need to do is first make sure that the drive that you use for Time Machine is connected to your Mac and then navigate to the folder or drive that you want to restore from now. Once you're there go up to the menu bar and search time machine which will bring up the UI now from here. You can literally scroll back through time to the date before the files were deleted. And get your files back, you can simply highlight them and select restore which will bring them out of the past and put them back to their original location.
Method 3: Because if that method didn't work for you and you don't want to go the professional route, there is still one more method that is by far my favorite and that is using recovery software. So the particular piece of software that we're going to be using today. I've talked about before and that is Disk Drill. Of course, I use it all the time not just on this channel, but for my own professional use, I'm a photographer and a videographer professionally and I've misplaced quite a few things in my day. So having a piece of software that I can rely on that can pull files out of a drive for me when all else is lost. Pretty clutch. So I like using Disk Drill. I'm going to show you how to use Disk Drill and let's get started right now.
How to recover deleted files from a MacBook:
Step 1. Download and install Disk Drill for Mac. And once you install it go ahead and launch it. It will be a few tutorials that you can follow to actually learn how the whole UI and the whole system works. But once you're past that it will bring you to the main list of all the drives that are connected to your Mac, which is what we like to call the disc list.
Step 2. So at this point what you're going to do is you're going to highlight the drive that is inside your Mac. So your main hard drive or your main SSD that's connected to your Mac. You're going to find that in your disc list under a hardware disks. Select it.
Step 3. Then go ahead and click the recover button, which is just to the right of the hard drive name and this will begin the scanning process. So, of course this may take a little while depending on if it's an SSD or a hard drive. And of course the size of the drive that it is, so mine is probably going to take around about 20 minutes. So I'm going to wait it out and catch up to you once it's done.
Step 4. Once any scan has completed inside of Disk Drill you will immediately be brought to a list of all the files that have been found within that scanned and they're all organized based on the type of And that was used in order to obtain them so you can go through them. Basically just like any other file system on your Mac. It's a lot like a finder window. You can just go through the different folders and see which files have been found.
Step 5. And once you find the files that you want what's actually really important is you need to actually verify that they're recoverable. Well, there's something called Preview. It's built into Disk Drill where you can see a full preview and intact file preview of that file. All inside of Disk Drill and if and if you can see that inside of Disk Drill, then you know that that files intact and you can do this just by clicking the little preview icon which will bring up a preview of the file if it is not overwritten and ready to be recovered.
Step 6. So if that's the case once you've found the files that you want go ahead and put a check mark next to them just like this that will select them then go ahead and choose a save location. And go ahead and click Recover to recover data from MacBook Air or MacBook Pro hard drive.

Thank you Andrew for your useful explanation.
The problem i face is that my MacBook Air SSD stopped working out of the blue. It gives me the dreaded folder with a question mark in it. First aid says that there is nothing wrong. It seems that it's reading only the drive partition that has something to do with recovery. I'm told that the machine recognizes the drive, but not the partition where my data is. Do you think that disk drill would work for me?

Hi there! The only way to verify your files recoverability is to download Disk Drill Basic, run the scan, and preview the file(s) in question. If you managed to preview the file you needed to recover in a basic version, then you will need Pro to recover your files. Please email us at help@cleverfiles.com for further assistance. No preview just means that the file might be damaged or corrupt, it can be recovered, but it might need to be repaired.

I formatted my 13 TB external hard drive, and Its telling me to wait 57 hrs to complete the recovery. There was only maybe about 500GB of video footage on the drive. Do I have to wait for the whole scanning process or can I select the folders before its completed (since its not finding any new files after 6hrs of scanning) And recover the folders that are available ?

I've tried Disk Utility run first aid process has failed. if possible backup data on this Volume, I tried to mount the drive enter a password to unlock the disk is greyed out (won't let me type)

She closed the laptop to go to sleep and the next morning Diskdrill didn't show anything when she lifted the lid to see the screen. She didn't close the app or shut the computer down, just closed the lid and opened it the next day. Now when she clicks the drive to recover, nothing comes up. Your thoughts??

    • @cleverfiles
      @cleverfiles  26 днів тому

File names and folder structure are very intricate metadata that sometimes cannot be recovered. You can increase the recovery chances by running the scan on the whole drive by clicking Search for lost data on the whole drive (not just volume or partition) without interruptions, locating the files in question, and previewing them to verify the content. Disk Drill PRO will recover files that can be accurately previewed in Disk Drill Basic. If you only perform a Deep Scan, the metadata will be lost.

can we recover overwritten SD card ??

    • @cleverfiles
      @cleverfiles  3 роки тому

Hi, My apologies on the matter. We strongly suggest that once you delete the files by accident or by any other way, to stop using the media or device immediately to avoid data corruption.
In the case of an SD Card compared to a Hard drive, the SD card has less space than a Hard Drive; if you deleted files and then continue to take pictures, you are narrowing the possibilities of recovering those deleted pictures.
Imagine your SD Card is a road, this road has pavement, each section of pavement is a File or picture. So when you delete a file, what your SD Card does is that it tells your OS that the section, where your files were, is now "empty", even though it is not. So the section of the road still has pavement on it. When your OS wants to save a file, it will see the "empty" space and use it to save the file. And instead of removing the file, it will be written over the "empty" space of your file. In the road metaphor, your OS will be putting new pavement on top of the old one.

I used to think that I need to pay for icloud or have a huge amount of SD cards with backups, or do like my dad and have 10 GB of copies. Now I think: for what? I don't want to spend resources on all this if the guy from youtube offers free working options.
As a person who spent a lot of time finding ways to restore my data I want to say: this guy resurrected my mac. Moreover, he did it free..
Saving photos in the cloud is good but let's take a little more responsibility for your files. I feel much more confident after I restored everything on my own. I'm sure that guy feels the same

We offer a free recovery of up to 500 MB of your data if you use Disk Drill for Windows. Unfortunately, this option is not available for Mac users at this time.
We do guarantee the recovery of the files you can fully preview in the free version.

    Can you recover text messages?

Every recovery case is unique and depends on thousands of parameters. You can try scanning your drive with Disk Drill to see if any data can be recovered.

Data recovery is a paid feature in Disk Drill. With the free version you can only identify recoverable files.

Sadly none of your tips worked for me. I guess my notes have gone forever...I am pissed to say the least.

    Hi.
Sorry this isn't the right place for my query; please forgive.
I have a Windows computer, and attached to it was a Flash Drive that had a folder in it that I thought was small and meaningless; so, I deleted it and learned immediately afterwards that I had made a mistake.
I tried the little chkdsk G: /f & ATTRIB ..... things and got nothing. I also looked in history of my drive, but that was never activated. I also tried an old version of RecoveryPro or whatever from San Disk- nothing.
To your knowledge, is there anything I can buy and have SHIPPED to me as a decent physical tool to use to recover the files that I deleted? The thing is I DON'T want to be online and exposed while I am trying to recover stuff, so I'd rather pay $50 or something for a cd I can use, if possible.
    Thanks and GOD Bless,
    Paul
