I was so heart broken when my laptop crashed specifically for my files. You've helped a lot of people with this video. Thank you.
Glad we could help out so many people with this! The pictures and memories on these computers are irreplaceable!

My dad was a computer technition and he passed away 5 years ago. We have so many random hard drives laying around. Thank you so much for the video! I'm a little tech savy but I had no idea there was just a cord to treat the harddrives like an external one!
My stomach has been sickened by the loss of my hard drive. I have no idea who this all works or what it all means so I thought it meant the loss of my photos/songs/docs, etc. Your video makes me feel hopeful and that this situation is not insurmountable. Thanks Dad!
Hope you get all your stuff back! Let us know if it works.
I appreciate how efficiently you get to the info and clearly show what the answer to my question was...Please for the love of God don't lose that : )
Thank you so much for some relief in my journey to recover a ton of old memories! Also, thanks for getting to the point and still being extremely informative. Alot of youtubers would have dragged this out for a half hour.
You are a lifesaver. Your commentary very clear and simple. Good.
Glad we could help!
Indeed a life saver and it saved me a lot of bucks since enclosure for SATA HDD comes cheap($4-8 and pretty decent). I got myself now my old data and an external storage. Thanks for the tutorial, man!
Awesome! Glad you got your data back!
First class clear instruction, making life that bit simpler, thank you.
Thanks man. I feel too many people on the internet like hearing themselves talk. Thanks for being forthright about it.
Very clear and easy to understand. I really appreciate the help. Simplified my predicament. Thanks
Great job. Just watched the video and haven't attempted this yet, but you've made it look easy. Thank you.
Thank you so very much for this information. I failed to update my insurance on a 2 year old Dell Inspiron and dropped it last weekend. I've since purchased a new Dell 15.6" 7000, 8 generation i7, from Dell and I'm setting it up now.
I have so much on the Inspiron and I was so so worried I would loose everything. You're a blessing.
I'm a new subscriber and Thank you again! 💕 🙏
Glad you could recover all that data!
Thank you so much for mentioning the Dell Inspiron! I was reading all the comments and yours helped me mostly because that's what I have. Thanks again!
Thanks so much for this video. I'm so glad I don't have to go to some store for them to pull my data for me, the closest one in my area being HOURS away.
This is such a great instructional piece! I'd been putting off getting my old mac G4 desktop to a recovery service to get my kids' growing-up photos; I did have them backed up but the external drive the data's on isn't available. Now I'll open up that graphite tower and get everything off it, as well as off several olds laptops while I'm at it. Thanks!!!
My hard drive just crashed. I really needed this video. Thanks ! Your a Godsend!👊🏾
this was so simple and easy to understand. thank you sooo much !
You are a life saver!! Thank you so much for sharing this you have no idea how this video was helpful. I thought I had lost all my data forever! I’m superrrr happy 😃
Thank you so much. I was on my way to a computer store to do exactly this.
Thank you, this was a tremendous help.
Excellent and beautifully explained. Very simple to follow. So simple my nan could quite easily follow this without hassle
Really straightforward approach and explanation - thanks!
Slightly off-topic question, but since you were spot-on: is there a way to grab the photos iTunes saves out when you back up your phones? I am hesitant to use cloud services but don’t know how to restore old phone backups…
Very, very helpful! Thank you so much!
This video helped me a lot. I was just about to try and get a hard drive from our family’s old pc and I was worried about my new computer formatting it if I tried to connect it
Awesome!
I had to login just to tell you how much I appreciate your video! Thank you! I especially like how you get right to the point without all kindas of babbling and talking. So many videos are 80% babbling and yours was 100% useful info. Thank you!
Thank you!!!! I really appreciate it!
And you managed to read the files. Did you not think that diydad was holding something back or was I the only one that noticed that?
Have a great weekend and keep safe!!👍
@@KitJBenn what exactly am I "holding back"?
Great video simple to follow and clear for someone with very limited knowledge thanks
Thanks for the comment! Best of luck with your computer repair!
Very helpful, thank you!
I'm so happy I've just found this video, I'll order one and hopefully all goes well. Thank you so much :)

Awesome information for what I assumed was a dead issue hard drive matter. Thanks big time for saving my old files. You Rock!!
Glad you got your old files back!!!
Very informative! I have an old drive I almost erased but I want to see if I can get the files off it.
Thank you! I thought this was going to be much more difficult. I can do this.
I feel so sad for my old lappy. Got so many memories with her, thanks for the vid!
Glad we could help!
Great stuff thanks very much, while not totally computer illiterate, I am not technical either, so this kind of explanation is VERY much appreciated, THANKS AGAIN
I've had a hard drive from an old laptop sitting around for ages. Finally going to try accessing the data on it because of this video. Thanks! 😁
Glad we could help!
Did it worked?

Wow!!! This is an easy-peasy guide on getting your files from your old PC or laptop. I badly need this as I need to get some important files from my old hard drive, and transfer them to my new laptop. New subbie here :)
Thanks. Very helpful and to the poont
Thanks for keeping it simple. I’m not even going to call my tech friends because I feel I got it....
Did it worked?
@@khaelharvey3347 did it work for you?
I haven't tried it 🙁
i have not tried this out yet but this might actually save me :D
Thank you so so much, this is what I've been looking for.
Excellent video. Helping my friend. Thank you.
Recently,I changed the old hard drive from my laptop with a new one.And then I've installed a new windows on it.On the old hard drive I have minecraft, are my world saves still in appdata? Can I recover them and put them on my new hard drive? I don't want to lose all my saves with my builds...I have so many hours in that game...

Like many others here I really needed this video. Thanks for your advice and help. Your making the world a better place :D
I have at least five laptops just laying around...looking forward to seeing what’s on them. Who knows what awaits me! :-) I’ll be sure to post an update on my progress. Thanks for the video!
Update: It worked! Thanks again!!!
What was on it?
Thanks for this! You rock!
Thank you I just bought using your affiliate link... this was great !
Hi! This is really useful. I'm facing the same problem however my hard drive has an OS installed in it as well, along with other media that I'm trying to retrieve. If I use this method, will the installed OS in the hard drive affect the computer that I'm using to access it?
Thank you. Great clear presentation. Lost wedding photos now recovered. For my user file I had to open in another window to access but no problem.
Awesome! Glad you got those back!
very informative and most helpful ! thanks !...
Thanks! Really useful....
Thank you so much for your video. It really helps. Would this work also for a fusion drive, if I connect only the disk drive and not the ssd?
Yea it should
I can't wait to try this. I had my imac hard drive replaces because it was slowing down. I need to get a few files off of my old HD so I hope this works. Thanks.
Hope it works!
Thanks this was very helpful
Got a sata adapter through your link. If this works, you saved me 70 miles of driving and like $90!
Thank you for making this video it helps me a lot :)
Looks simple enough. Time to give it a try
Thanks...I will try this. Been sitting on a PC for years that has a systm file loader issue and will not boot. I think this may work!
did it work lol ?
Thank you so, so much for this! You just saved my budding online art business. 🙏💖
For a moment there I thought I saw my name.
Thanks for this. I've been trying to get data off of an old hard drive, but ran into an IDE roadblock. I just purchased the FIDECO SATA/IDE to USB 3.0 Adapter that you linked to and I'm hoping that'll work without issue. It does cost more than $10, but in the end it's still cheaper than paying $50 at a shop to have someone else do it and I can reuse it on newer hard drives in the future.
I got the adapter in the mail earlier and now I'm trying to get my PC to read the hard drive but it just keeps stalling near the end. Any suggestions?
Thanks for the demo! My computer had a password for sign on. Do I need to enter that somewhere prior to being able to copy the files onto my working computer?
If it is encrypted yes. If not you should be good to go.
GRATE your step by step info was very helpfull ; THANK'S
Thank you for this!
I wont skip ads for this one
great clear video. thank you
Thank you! Fast $aving time too, very helpful. God bless you!
Thank you!
Perfect! Thank you!
Thank you so much, you are a lifesaver!!!
This is a great help! I don't want my tech to see my scandal video on hard drive so I'll need to recover it to my new pc and delete it on the hard drive problem fix 😛
😂
Thank you so much for this video!
What is that connection cable/device, connecting the cable to the hard drive?
Thank you so much!
Fantastic job 👏🏾
Hey there I had saved passwords on my old hard drive that was on a desktop which stopped working. Will I be able to transfer the videos, photos, AND passwords from the desktops hardrive to my laptop? Thank you so much this will really help me it has so much memories on it
It was definitely helpful.
Thank you for this video.
Does this also work if a hard drive disk doesn't work (and or) doesn't have cables on it? My HP one used to have a cable that was connected to the motherboard. (not sure if it's dead or not but my HP wouldn't read it anymore)
I'm trying to transfer it to my Toshiba and putting the HP hard drive manually doesn't work on it.
Oh man, you're a lifesaver!!! Thought this was so much harder to do! BIG 👍for you!!
Awesome! Glad we could help!
Does this work if the data i want to retrieve is in a hdd and the new pc i will be using has a sdd?
Thanks for this video!
It's very informative and helpful.
Yes, I did exactly that just a few weeks ago.
Yes! Thank you! My only advice would be to make this into 2 videos. One for how to remove the hard drive and one for how to recover data from the hard drive. Maybe you have already done that?
This is a great DIY video, but it is 2 years old... please provide information on that extractor mechanism technology and is it still available today? Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
My desktop runs fine. How do I retrive particular info on my good running hard drive? trying to find a particular time frame.
The technician that worked on my laptop said that the hard drive caused my laptop to crash. Do you think I can still recover files from that hard drive using your guide?
Thank you ! It took me three minutes to get the hard drive out and most of that was looking for the other screwdriver, LOL. I shared this to my Facebook wall.
great info, tx! When transferring the data from the old drive to the receiving computer, can the data go straight into a thumb drive connected to the receiving computer, bypassing its HD? Tx much
I have a hard drive from a pc and now only have a Mac can I open hard drive on a Mac or not as it’s not showing up?
Thank you, this and other videos led me to recover my file from a dead pc, it would have been 5 years worth of data down the drain!
Glad you got your stuff back!
thank you so much for the information
Thank You For Telling!
Thank you!!!!!!!
I inherited a dead computer with important files on it. I’m feeling pretty confident about trying to do this. I’m also backing up all my devices, just in case. Thanks
Awesome, good luck!
Hey man can we use our hard drive like pen drives for storing movies pictures and videos and what will happen if we again put this in our pc will it work or not please answer me
Yes, you can. And if you go to reinstall the drive back into your computer able to shop as a second hard drive, so you’ll still be able to read the files on it.
Thanks for the video, worked perfectly 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
Awsome! Glad we could help!
This video was definitely helpful, thanks very much for sharing!
Glad we could help!
I have a Toshiba laptop hard drive and I wonder if there are different designs of Sata, then which one to choose? Please let me know. Thank you.
Thanks so much for posting all this! 53-y/o N.J. guy here. I'm about to order the connector for the hard drive from Amazon per your link. THANK YOU! Yes, I liked this vid & I did subscribe to it on FB! THANK YOU!!
great, simple easy
Thank you so much for your help
This was very helpful! However, my “dead” hard drive is not appearing on the MacBook when I attach it using the SATA cable. Can you help? Thanks!
If the it’s the hard drive that’s dead and not the motherboard or any other component that gets the computer started I’m afraid to tell you that there’s no way of recovering what’s on it, maybe someone professional will be able to tell you wether it’s dead or not but if it is, it’s impossible to recover it’s content
Wow that looks easy enouph, thanks. What cable will i need to oreder from Amazon for a old windows laptop?
