Decent try this time, but very unstable in terms of results and overall gameplay during the whole tournament. I rooted for 🇱🇻 today from 🇪🇪

Latvia did very well but it wasn't enough. I think latvia´s problem is inconsistent. They can play very well against top teams such as sweden,finland,canada. But they are uneven. Latvia need to find a better stability. The quality is there but need more adjustments overall. Anyways, good game latvia.
I dont know honestly, why, to weaker teams, they kind of think they can relax. Always the same thing..

As someone who wasnt Latvia's biggest fan, I give credit where its due. I think they were a good team this year, but they do need more quality in order to deal with the teams they must collect 3 points from. They did well against the top teams apart from us, the Czechs. Anyway, better luck next year!

Oddly chance where Latvia almost got a goal while skating around fence to Sweden's corner didn't get included where puck later got stopped by Sweden defense man's stick

I dont care what people think of the Latvian team but we are top 5 teams in world we dont play like the checks or Finland we for a small country try and fight hard and play with heart happy and proud of even getting to quarter final

Finally decided to watch a Swedish game since "we" are looking so good this year - 1-0 game XD I almost fell asleep
I will go ahead and guess that you watch very few games against Latvia. We almost never win with more than one or two goals against Latvia. They are really hard to score against since their strategy against teams like Sweden has to be to very defensive in nature , relying on odd man rushes and special teams to score.
I feel bad for Latvia. This year they had in the same group 4 teams from the big 6. Usually theres 3 in both groups.
I agree group B was the tougher group I would rather play Slovakia , Germany , and Switzerland any day over Finland , czhesia , Sweden:).
What if we put Silov instead of Merzlikin at the beggining of the tournament...

I liking the same hockey team - Latvia.
I have to root for Latvian team.
Only if we had the same effort throughout all of the tournament. Typical Latvia, always making it hard for themselves. Really hoped Elvis would have a great tournament and partly he is the reason why we lost vs Czechia and USA.
Also the amount of chances we need to start taking advantage of. I counted about 7 times this match alone that we should have scored or threatened the goalie more. Same story vs USA. So many chances, very little execution.
At the end of the day we won who we should have won and ended up where we are every year.
Elvis had a very bad year. Silovs was impressive though

Jokes aside Latvia deserves credit for this game keeping the score close ggs to them. To try to find any logic in hockey is impossible Norway probably should have had atleast a point vs Latvia 2-3 , but get absolutely destroyed by big brother Sweden while Sweden barely edges Latvia 1-0 conclusion there is no logic in hockey a team can barely win one game then absolutely destroy in the next;)).

very true, I noticed that our control of the puck in general was very sloppy, sometimes it just went past our players' sticks for no reason. There are 3 major problems with the team - Inconsistency, stickhandling and lack of a plan or strategy. Compared to previous years, this year I could tell we did not play anywhere close to that level. hopefully next year we'll be ready and show up.
@@wanpii1463 Yeah, while i was still living in Latvia and rooting for them I've been getting sick and tired of them settling for second best most of the time coming up a few goals short from higher ranking teams on IIHF or only to prolapse after beating one of the said teams. It's the boysclub attitude of both Latvia's national team and Dinamo Riga dragging them back hiring old latvian ex-players as coaches apart from that Bob Hartley hire. Like last year when Latvia beat Canada only to lose to flippin Kazakhstan afterward out of getting complacent.
I guess I am rooting for UK more these days even though they got relegated but the future doesn't look too bad for the UK hockey but am still keeping a close eye on Latvia.

Also funny fact i've seen in this tournament.. they always seem to hit goalie, instead of edges. Might be the coaches problem there, never seen so pathetic coaching
