As a retired rodeo bronc rider, I understand this movie better than anything else I know. Reminds me of the last six years of my grandpa's life. I got to know him and we shared this common bond as cowboys. He was a rancher back in the day before moving to the big city and working every job he could to support his six, and then five kids. I worked farms and ranches as a hand. I started rodeo right outta high school. And now I sing traditional country music. Ernest Tubb and Hank Williams Sr were his favorites. Here's to ya grandpa. And all the cowboys that are my heroes.
Ive noticed a lot of folks that think bull riders are the tough guys of rodeo...... next to the rodeo clowns... the bronc riders are the real gangsters of rodeo....
Bulls are big sure.... but theyre dumb & slow..... horses are big, fast & when they wanna be mean...man they can be nasty....
Respect 2 ya buddy!
Actually frank rizzo bulls are not dumb and slow there really fast and not dumb and they can also be really really nasty

The best nothing but the best
I rode bulls up into the 1976 cow palace and was injured
I’ve always been a huge fan of the late and great Ben Johnson. Good ole Oklahoma boy.
Me, too. I got to meet him once, in Lewiston, ID where they made Breakheart Pass. I reached out to shake his hand, and my hand disappeared > his hand was as big as a bear paw!!!
And remember, he was a stunt rider before he got big in the movies. He was the one who first did 'Roman riding' and that got around, and the rest is history. For those who don't know, Roman riding is when a guy stands on the backs of two galloping horses! Johnson did it on a bet.
I miss all them old time cowboys like Ben Johnson he was the real deal he never acted a day in his life that was just him.
This is my second viewing of this ab fab movie n it did NOT fail to deliver a second time!!! Scott Glen is the consummate actor, from the first time I ever saw him in Urban Cowboy through all the in between n here in My Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys, he is phenomenal, you never take your eyes off him. Ben Johnson is also a seasoned veteran who has been in tons of cowboy movies n is STILL excellent to watch, Gary Busey, is always a bundle of energy n funny, Cate Capshaw n Tess Harper are both EXCELLENT n Balthazar Getty is coming up nicely since I first saw him in Young Guns II. The entire cast, not to forget Clarence Williams III, Linc from the Mod Squad in the 1970's, was top notch!!! Will watch this one over n over!!!
When this movie came out, I went to see it with my mom. Several months later I lost my sight. It's the last movie I recall seeing with my mom.
How tf you typing?
@@weeblul3687 The Apple iPad has a built-in app called voice over that turns the stuff on the screen into computerized speech I hear through the speakers/headphones. It basically reads the screen to me.
Did you watch it again this time
@@jamiemullen4523 Yes.
@@arrasand0, even, IDOLATRY can be 'fun'..!
No matter what role you cast Scott Glenn as I will always see Wes Hightower. ❤
My same thoughts with Debra wringer
He's not a pair of boots you don't put away your heroes. He's a hero he's my hero. I always loved that line.
You Honor Them..
Yes Sir.
When I was a little boy I was born into the sport of rodeo from my uncle who’s an ex professional rodeo cowboy who’s been with the best and he taught me everything to become a real cowboy And ever since then I thank Jesus Christ our savior for giving that to me cuz cowboys are American Hero’s that built the world.
My great-uncle Smokey Snyder, is in 4 of the cowboy Hall of Fames.
,
Before helmets and padded vest's. Lyle Sankey taught me a lot. God bless Rodeo
Ben Johnson ... one Authentic ever-thing.
Me and my old man always use to watch this when it came out.
R.I.P Dad❤❤
Seen this movie before, but never really realized it was dedicated in the remembrance of lane frost. That’s kind of cool.
I'm a Texan, I love rodeos, and I love cowboys. But I chose this movie tonight because it's Popcorn. I knew before it started, I'd be satisfied.
Bull riding is the hardest part of rodeo, in my opinion. I loved his comment, to become one with something so wild (paraphrased) is the feeling of being truly alive! To connect with a wild animal at any level is truly a beautiful thing to experience.
As always, my Popcorn, thank you. I loved!
My dad rode bareback broncs before I was born. I asked him once why he didn't ride bulls. He said that they scared him. As a little girl who didn't think her dad was scared of anything I was shocked. Loved this movie back in the day
Still love it today. Ben Johnson will always be one of my favorite actors. ❤
WOW!! This was just as good this time as it was when I saw it when it first came out in the theater!!! Ben Johnson = the ULTIMATE Cowboy!!!
Ben Johnson as Trooper Travis Tyree in RIO GRANDE. `Nuf said ! 🤠
I rember watching this movie with my kids one of my favorites back then it was on 📼 vhs my kids r n their 30s now awsum show thanks for bringin it back
I'm glad they taught the boy how to be a country boy
I mean teaching the boy to become a 🤠 cowboy
WE NEED MORE HERO SHOWS LIKE THIS ONE!!!
ALL YOU CAN SAY IS GREAT, GREAT, GREAT!!!!!
I agree! And in a world with so much negativity we need movies that lift us up and inspire our kids to family values! Thank you so much?
We do not have many rodeo movies. The famous Lazy E arena and town of Guthrie OK are shown here. The rodeo world cannot be beat. Great life.
This was also Ben Johnsons last movie. What a great send off for that Cowboy.
Let's go Rodeo!
Totally LOVED 😍 it!!! Superb movie!!! I've been a Scott Glenn fan since Urban Cowboy, n he totally delivered a fabulous performance in this movie, as did the all star cast!!! Would watch it again!!! Awesome find!!! Thanks for posting!!!
This is the best film I’ve seen in a long time
"You're all Hat and no cattle." Classic line.
Damn fine flick here, much respect to all involved.
My heroes have always been cowboys, rough, tough and usually know who they are and don't apologize for who they are.
I have been waiting to see this movie for decades. I have been wanting to see this when I was 12 years old going on 13 in 1991. Thanks for posting this.
Have watched this movie several times and l'm watching it again tonight. Love it
Great movie..
That Kate was always one of the most Beutiful Women on this planet. Not to mention a Fine Actress.
Talk about an supportive roll emey.
Glenn has always been an outstanding actor in every role he played..
Johnson is Legendary..
A remarkable man..
This movie would have made John Very Proud...
Ben Johnson (the dad ) isn't acting. He was world champion team roper when he was younger.
This is when the music was still good and actors/actresses' were good at what they did. This is a great movie!
GOOD COUNTRY DRAMA , awesome Rodeo scenes, good acting all around.
I LOVE THIS MOVIE!! Thanks fo putting it back on.
I'm a daily cowboy,,seeing that old man having difficulty retiring is pretty hard to see,it's something I'm starting to notice on my father in laws life, but he is twice as stubborn.!GREAT MOVIE!
matt 270 post a honest days work of a real cowboy.
Mr. matt, If you’re given the gift of time, stuff starts to wear out. It’s natural, a part of the Cycle of Life. It’s hard to see someone you admire, love etc. experience aging but just try to *be* in those moments. Take pictures, videos, sit down and really ask them about their lives and their time in their prime. Then really, really listen. There’s a lot of accumulated knowledge and experience there-and not all of it’s good so be prepared. Much respect to you, sir. Someone raised you right.
THE BEST. AND ALL THE OLD GUYS TOGETHER.Really appreciate. Thanks popcorn flix😍👏👏👏
Thanks for this movie! One of my favorites! I did a bit of cowboying back when I was a kid growing up in Tucson, and this brings back so many memories!
I enjoyed watching this movie again as much or more as I did the very first time. Two scenes that got to me the most, was when he was telling his sister that his dad was a hero, my hero! and when Jesse broke down and cried. I also loved HD's sarcasm! "Yes, nothing I'd like better than talking to junior all day". Any father who can raise a son who says his dad is his hero as a grown man, may not be perfect, but he's sure in the heck did something right! One last comment, my son asked me why my generation had so many pretty women in it? He said when I watch movies made in the 70's all women look so clean and pretty. I said son, people didn't always do right back then, but we knew right from wrong. Television was clean, we didn't have internet. And though our parents where far from perfect, we showed them respect. It was a different world.
absolutely true!
Saludos desde sonora puro vaquero
Love cowboy movies for sure❤❤❤❤❤
Saw this movie years ago when it first come out. Love the song the first time I ever heard it. I can’t believe this movie on UA-cam...thanks so much for sharing and bringing back so many wonderful memories.
If you like the song you should give Jarrod Birmingham’s version a listen.
Thank you for the good movies that have been forgotten Pop
I guess cowboys, farming, and country life was always instilled in me by grandpa!
The opening brings back memories. I was a Paramedic and worked a few rodeos. I'm a Texan and some of my heroes are cowboys.
Tina Gallagher oh I bet they were banged up bad
joaopebno
Mine have always been Heroes to me i will always remember when my grandfather had to give up his horse it killed him he would always go feed sundown and he would me shuck the sweet corn for him does any one remember there grandfather have 2 cowboy hats and you knew where he was going one for town the other to work i wish my parents would have me spent more time to learn more about him he told me he would take his horse and pick up cattle up north and bring them to Port lavaca tx and put them on a boat .abd he would meet my grandmother after they put the animals they lived next to each other on different farms he was a professional bull rider and bronco rider and oilfield worker.
One of my favorites ... Almost the story of my life cept my dad can't leave the home.
thank you for the cowboys movies.
Oh yeah God bless the rodeo clowns that save lives Cowboy Up forever
As an Ex-Rodeo clown for (SEBRA) South East Bull Riding Association I appreciate your comment. I didn't do it for the money tho the money was good.I did it for the bull riders, and to challenge myself.
So True, They are certainly NOT given enough recognition for the hard work they do, and the injuries they receive, saving the other Cowboys from getting hurt. Here’s to You Sparky, for your surgeries and pins in your ankle, from jumping in front of the Bull, and saving the Cowboy from Great injuries, by putting your own life in harms
way!🥂🙏
Good Old Days 😉
OMG😲The look IN THAT Bull's EYE'S! He Aims To Do Damage🍿Determined 👀HE REMEMBERS YOU TOO💕🍿Intense moment. Absolutely Loved THIS Movie💕And loved when the Bull Gave Him Respect💕GREAT job HD
Scott Glenn, perfect actor
This is the only movie I’ve ever seen filmed in Oklahoma and I’m really happy!!❤️
Alot movies filmed here sis.
Glad to see a member of the mod squad in this movie😁
I love all the songs in this movie
I've always loved this flick.
Its very rare and very hard to find
I've been looking for this for so long. Thank you so much!!!
Great film !!!!!
One of my all time favorites!
Thunderbolt should have been called Spawn of Satan. He was a mean old sob. I do believe tho if he had on a hat he would have tipped it to his rider who conquered his mean old self. The dad reminded me so much of my own daddy, stubborn and hard headed ,but a heart of gold. Great movie. Reminds me of watching PBR on Saturday nights in my younger days.
Very sad to here this news I grew up watching his movies most memorable rocky and many others .didn’t no carl personally but I feel like he was family I watch every year around thanksgiving the rocky marathon my deepest thoughts go out to his family and friends
Oh so good, thanks so much 👍👏👏✌
Watching again, love this movie!,,,
Thanks for the movie and love love it!!
Dang....I didn't want the movie to end!!!!
If you like rodeo watch this one. The action shots are great.
"The action shots" would have been more realistic had the bullrider been spurring during the ride. (instead of having his legs clamped to the bull as shown)
MY FAVORITE MOVIE I LOVE THIS MOVIE❤❤
So glad to hear that!
"Add One More To The Picnic" lol🍿💕
Lane and kellie frost were stunt doubles for this movie four days after shooting was when lane passed.
po,' po,' po' ol' Lane...not only
ALOT safer but a heII of
ALOT mo'money, to be
had in the movies.
Anyhow, Kellie Frost was the RODEO COORDINATOR for this film.
Lane Frost was out on circuit, during the film shoot and had ABSOLUTELY : NOTHING to do with THIS film.
Great movie... Thanks for sharing it! 👍👍

Good movie, watched it as a kid, brought back lots of good memories!
Thank You for this. I haven't seen it in so long cause I got busy then hurricane Sally happened and I lost everything. But it was nice to see and feel old memories. Thank You.
Love this movie. I Understand it.
Right at 45:45 I heard one my absolute favorite songs in the background on the radio! It was nothing's news by Clint Black, one of the best songs he played. Love that sound of that steel guitar in it!
I love me some Clint Black and a man in tight wranglers and cowboy boots!
@@richardflorida9610 True that!
This movie was my 8 seconds when I grow. Cowboys are my heros.
Kelly Frost was a consultant on this movie. She was on set when Lane was at Cheyanne

Kate Capshaw what a Babe! Great Movie great music , Great cast!
I’ve been looking for this movie for forevvvvvver!!!!! 🍿
Its very hard to find
Good. Worth watching. Even if you ain't rodeo.
I always enjoyed this movie
Great film! Terrific soundtrack, and it's used masterfully. Seriously, it's almost like the songs were written just for that use. The entire cast was well done. My only disappointment is that by 1991 that was the best Mickey Rooney could do. Otherwise, wonderful film, and I'm glad I watched it!
Mickey Rooney was an old man by 1991 ... He should have retired well before then (IMO).
Good movie, good songs, country, just how I like em, please more
Love cowboy movies real men
Wasnt that Tuff Hedeman doing the stunt riding on the last bull🤔 good movie, 🤠👍
After posting I googled it, and while I didn't confirm it was Tuff I did read an excerpt from Ty Murray's book. Turns out Lane Frost was hired to double for Scott Glenn, but was killed before he got the chance. Tuff and Jim Sharp did the riding stunts in this.
Cody Lambert comes out too
Thanks for the onfo
Dam good movie! 😎 my compliments sir
Misplaced Hillbilly he should be called( fuckin stupid ) how crazy’s can ya git
The Cowboy life 👏🏻
I love this movie one of my favorites
