There are people that would just shoot the horses due to them running on their lands, if this was not done. It is sad but even sadder to have that happen.

I am loving the brothers and their approach to training, and Jesus as well. It’s heartbreaking to see one of the brothers cry over not being able to keep their Mustangs. I could see how they formed a strong bond with their animals.

YES, SO TRUE. But they knew from the beginning they were only trainers and not owners. They should apply for a horse of their own.

I'm 2 months into working at a wild mustang non-profit here in New Mexico with 18 horses. This is my 2nd volunteer assignment this year and I'm by myself almost every day. I consider each horse a friend and treat them accordingly. Breaking thru to a shy horse with consistency, patience, and respect really can make your week. Having a wild horse come up to you and just lean into you for a bit of ear scratching quickly becomes an afternoon thing. Caring for a horse injured during gelding consumes your thoughts. Getting out of the van to gently guide a group across the road so they don't get hit becomes common. Wild Mustangs... I'm watching over them now.

The engineer impressed me the most because she didn’t have the benefit of experience or people in her life supporting her. It takes a certain grit stubborn courage and humility to go and do something this hard in spite of the constant toxic negativity from these people around her. Personally I believe it took more for her to do this than any of the others. Everyone was amazing but it is a much greater struggle when even on camera the people in your life are putting her down and telling her she can’t do it. Sounds like jealousy to me from couch potato experts who dare nothing and only ever do what’s safe.

Netflix should take this and run with it- this would make a great documentary (this documentary is from 2011, I would love for Netflix to showcase this year's makeover), raise awareness, and with the amount of people who watch Netflix I'm sure it would attract more trainers and bidders!

I don't have Netflix but I so agree with you. I couldn't get enough of this documentary and would love to watch another year of the makeover. There is a French film out there (but in English) about prisoners in some state penitentiary doing exactly the same thing but then the prison service discontinued the practice (too expensive maybe?). Super film based on the real "cowboys" with tribute paid to them at the end.

Wow!!!! What a fantastic documentary. I really enjoyed watching the bond between Jesus and Compadre , I kept wishing that the 'anonymous buyer' was his other compadres pooling their $ so he could keep him. Luckily, he still got to present him and Compadre is practically famous as a mascot, pretty cool for them. Also the 2 brothers and their sweet bond with their horses , I so wish that they would have been able to keep them too. The way that Kris cried over the thought of losing his horse choked me up, I wish I could have bought that horse for him. Let's not forget sweet ol' George and Evelyn, they were a great couple lucky #7 wife for George. RIP sir you were a very kind fella

My grandad owned lots of horses. They also gathered will horses back in his day and domesticated them.1918.He was very good at training them. His favorite mare named Bessie would happily take him to my grandads local Bar,which was 7km down the road.Bessie would lay down outside the bar for hours until grandad was done.He would come out so drunk, his friends would help him to his faithful horse still laying down waiting for grandad. His friends would help him sit on Bessie,She would only get up when she was sure grandad was sitting ok.Then Bessie would start the journey home.Just trotting off course. On arrival at the house, she would knock with her hoof which made aloud sound because of the horseshoe.Gran would open the door, quite annoyed at grandads inebriation.Bessie would go straight to grandads bedroom and flip him gently onto his bed. Then she would turn and go to her stall for a well deserved sleep.Till I die I will never forget Bessie. If you love an animal it loves you right back, with loyalty and faithfulness. This happened on grandads farm, here in South Africa.

To train a horse you know is going to someone else, you tell yourself "don't fall in love with the horse". But you do, and you still have to walk away, it hurts deep. I was fortunate, I was eventually given my girl. She's not a mustang, just a bratty Haflinger, but I love her.

For everyone watching..the way Careen loops the lead rope is not safe. She managed to let it go at the right time to not have it tighten around her hand and be dragged, but most people are not that quick and aware, so lead ropes should never be wrapped around your hand. You should fold the loop and hold the middle instead.

They seem to love the cross country eventing courses. One 14.2 hand mare is competing , and doing well against Off the track thoughbreds and Warmbloods :)

This was a great video. Congratulations to all of the people involved and THANK YOU ALL for committing so much of your time, care and love for a truly fantastic cause. I did think that Clint Bailey and Rooster got robbed of first place. Rembrandt and Wylene Wilson did a great job but her show seemed more flash and glitter when compared to Bailey's performance. Afterwards, having her daughter come running out onto the course at the end while she herself cried seemed like a tug on the judge's heart strings. She and her horse were excellent but I think Bailey should have won for sure. The different approaches by everyone involved and different outcomes were very interesting to see. It's great when we get to see the outcome of the bidding on the horses and where they ended up.

I also think the cow girl was a little too full of her self. she kept talking about how great she is and all about winning. she was makeing it all about her and girl power and not the horse.

Yes she has a very high opinion of herself doesn't she! I found her really annoying after a short time. I actually have a friend who is very like her and has a have-a-go attitude to riding but she doesn't constantly boast about her achievements or look down on others who are not as brave or successful, in fact she will put herself out to help anyone.

I love that stuff forming a bond with the animal.any animal for that matter.that black 9008 is a beautiful horse.I train dogs too for searching and scent discrimination.I don’t know if man would have survived without horses and dogs
