- Rush Spotlight 1990 and Diggin' Through The Vaults. I just edited and combined these two Muchmusic programs. Again, there's some significant overlap with other interview features but it also includes a small bit of unique footage. For the completists out there.
More of RUSH interviews that I knew nothing about ...just when I thought I knew everything about RUSH already!! ll!!! this brought a lump in my throat & a tear in my eye .....RIP Neil Peart...still devastated...
Like millions of other musicians,I could honestly say I wouldn't have picked my career path without the influence of those 3 guys. An inspiration that will influence my life time and more to come.
A Minute With Mars I second that notion. I play bass because of hearing songs like the trees, hemispheres, Natural science, etc. Changed my direction completely and never looked back.
never realized how commercially successful Presto was. And i love that album.
I remember watching that "windy" Ged interview in the early 90s... how he said, "Sometimes I have to wonder 'why are these people so obsessed with what I do?!' " -- and of course, we (who are obsessed) are thinking because the bass on Hemispheres, Perm Waves... right up there with the genius of Chris Squire, Jaco, Jeff Berlin, et al.
7:55 hahahah fucking Alex. Love these three guys. Neil, miss you terribly. Greatest band of all time.
I like how it says "Time Stand Still" one second and literally the next, it says "Grace Under Pressure".
+SuperSparrow45 and "Distant Early Warning" as well.
I remember scoring a copy of chronicles for like 12 bucks when it first came out. It's an awesome album that highlights the best of Rush.
I love how this, being a Canadian show, not only pronounces Neil's name incorrectly, they even spell it incorrectly too!!!! LOL
"Distant Early Warning?!" WTF!! "That's Time Stand Still" From the Hold Your Fire album
Hahaha yes, that was a goof
Get the guys last name spelled right Peart...not Pert. That qualifies for job loss and some kind of painful torture.
YES !!!!!!! God...that IRKS me and makes me cringe when I hear people mispronounce Neil's last name !!!!
Doug Deman Ots part of the lure now and themselves had fun with. No big deal.
They also misspelled the Time Stand Still directors name - it's Zbigniew Rybczyński not "zbidnew ryczynski".
ILikeGoils I don’t think anyone can spell that name properly.
@@drummer78 you can if you're Polish, like I am. :D
Cool clips! The gal with the hat in the beginning is a hottie :-) 2 errors tho. The video was Time Stand Still not Distant Early Warning. They also spelled Pert instead of Peart lol. Other than that great stuff!
Presto was my introduction to Rush. Still love it.
Nice compilation!
Funny seeing a young John Roberts interviewing Ray Daniels.
LONG LIVE RUSH,,BEST BAND EVER, 🤘🤘
I’d love to have that signed cd of Chronicles.....
Oh, man! Ouch, seeing a much younger Neil talking about "diametrically opposed" stuff....what a terrible loss of a sharp, brilliant mind, and a beautiful, sensitive soul. Still crying over his death, ugh! 😢🙏
Ha... Neil Pert. 1:26
thebatman101069 I know eh what a goof john Roberts is a canadian as I am, his is NEIL FRICK'N P EAR T sound it out
Holy shit that man can talk
after hurling my way through decades of having guess who play every second play as Canadian content... when a dozen acts in Canadian music history are light years better... these guys are without peer as a 3 piece ..
"If and when we have to pull it all apart it will have to be for a darn good reason".... :(
I love it when Geddy whips out his Wal ! ( Video copyright Wondershare(R) trial version )
Rush are the biggest heavy metal band in Canada?! Amazing.
It's pronounced PEERT dammit!!! Sorry.. that always bugs me. Carry on...
I miss the old Much Music channel
Kev G.
Not to nitpick-and the overly-common irritant of the mispronunciation of Neil’s last name notwithstanding-but you’d think they’d at least *try* to get the information right in these interviews…that was, of course, Time Stand Still, and most certainly NOT Distant Early Warning playing at 3:29, despite the fact they chose to put the latter title up on the screen.
Wow I remember a different Distant Early Warning... is it the Mandela Effect?
Should have kept all the songs on the upload
Wondershare trial version?
PERT
It's Donna Chang!
Changstein actually. She's from Long Island.
Shameful as a Canadian network....Rush must be SMH
Too bad that "thing" that eventually caused the break-up (musically) was arthritis of the elbow. Still hanging on to Hope that Peart will find the strength, and healing for motivation towards some more sessions. Albeit not a tour.
@@Compilation-Nation Rush had already retired before Neil learned of this cancer. It was the tendinitis in his elbow (also known as Tennis elbow since it’s common in tennis players), that finally made Peart feel like he could no longer play up to his own standards anymore and was hanging up the sticks. He later found out he had a type of brain cancer.
Alex also wanted to retire because he has arthritis in his hands and fingers making it painful to play for three hours. Geddy seems to be the only one not stricken with some debilitating disease that inhibits his playing, although, he had lost his voice and could no longer do two concerts in a row, so they scheduled days in between tour dates. His voice would be hoarse the next day and he was unable to reach many of the high notes recorded in his youth.
It’s a sad tail, but age gets to all of us eventually. It was time for then to hang it up and start to enjoy their life and family. They all have plenty of money to live in luxury for the rest of their life, so it was only for the love of playing and their fans that they continued on so long. Once it is no longer fun to play and tour, it’s time to give up. They couldn’t have been enjoying playing that much in all of that pain.
I think Alex actually retired so he could play more golf. He’s nuts about golf and probably wanted to get more time on the green. Then he got kidnapped by Ricky from “Trailer Park Boys”. Have you seen that skit? Check it out if you haven’t because it’s a riot. Ricky calls “Tom Sawyer” “That Diane Sawyer song”.
You can tell she's a big Shania Twain fan LOL!
Did she say "poig-nant"?!
pert, poig-nant, pitiful.
She was pert under that shirt. Oh Neil look a lyric!!! %)
Poy-g-nant
Brett327 boy or girl?
"Pert"....isn't that a shampoo?
No, you're thinking of 'Gee, Your Hair Smells Terrific' .......
I thought it meant nicely shaped tits?
Yeah, Neil invented it. Another of his amazing gifts - shampoo development.
OMG Ray's hair LMAO and JD... WTF happened with your MAGA crazy Fox BS?
Pert is a shampoo.
time stand still is an awful video. they could have paid me 20 bucks and i coulda done a better job
PEAR T not pert....GRRRRRR
first! and like!!
I bet GEDDY LEE would say now that the video sucks but back in the 80s, talking heads were cool 😎 👍
The fact they called Rush "heavy metal" shows their complete ignorance. This program was terrible at getting basic facts straight.
Hey, jethro Tull -won the "heavy metal " Grammy one year over Metallica lol
And yet another failure at pronouncing Neils last name. Once again it's Peart...Peeeert....P👂T... It's not difficult.
This was painful to watch. Eesh.
Presto was more commercially successful than Moving Pictures??
Just looked it up. She is wrong. Presto wasn't their most commercially succusseful album to date. It sold 500K in the US and 100K in Canada. MP sold 4 million in the US and 400K in Canada.
@@WarrenCromartie2 they pretty much got everything wrong. The only thing that saved them was they actually had footage of the guys in the group. Surprisingly they didn't mess that up.
Just talk normal Peart please
Hold your Water was the worst album.
