CDI BOX REPAIR XR650L Honda

A 2009 Honda XR650L's poor/no spark condition is caused by a bad CDI box. The OEM CDI box is repaired, tested and carried for a back-up. Also a non OEM CDI box is purchased and used. Over 3000 miles have been put on the non OEM CDI. The bike had 14,500 miles on when the ignition failed. It now has 17,636 as of November 2022. I will update this description if necessary. Notes: the non OEM CDI box infrequently will trip into a bad run condition on startup. You cure it by simply restarting the motor. I estimate this happens once to twice in every hundred starts. UPDATE: Sept.2023, 18,986 ode. switched back to original repaired CDI box after several no-starts where I had to tap the aftermarket box to get it to work. As of spring 2024 repaired box is functioning fine.
