The best tribute of all time for the best frontman of all time in the best stadium to rock of all time with the best crowd ever. I call this an epic win.
Holy crap this is awesome! Been a Def Leppard fan for years, just starting to get heavily into Queen (tough I've liked them always anyway)... Rick Savage (Def Lep bassist) is a big Queen fan and it shows here.
I'm glad to have seen this video all the way. First time I saw this short clip was on Def Leppard's Visualize video & DVD, which is Vivian Campbell's first gig with this band. Even though this part was not on the Freddie Mercury's Tribute DVD, except only a few Queen songs, I still like it all the same. It's a great tribute no doubt.
Can you imagine that? Being Brian May and at the mere mention of your name and coming on stage, thousands of people erupt in rapturous applause, simply for being who he is. must be awe inspiring.
I can't believe I was to pre-occupied with life at the time this event took place. I hope Freddie was feeling the love! This is so exciting and exilerating! Thanks Queen for giving us more Freddie shared through other musicians! God bless everyone and God save the Queen!
Excellent song by an excellent band covered by one of the most underrated heavy metal bands to come out the UK. How long til someone argues that def leppard aren't heavy metal, instead being "glam".
Now i'm here was the first Rock song that i remmember, this song made me a Rock'n Roll fan...i was 11 years old at that time, and i felt the same when i saw this video..i still like it a lot. Thnks to Brian and the Guys of DL, pretty good to me!!!!
This was Vivian Campbell's first ever live performance with the band. Joe didn't announce Campbell's appearance prior to this show - he just let people wonder who that guy was playing the guitar in the spot where Steve used to. Pretty cool.
They played some shows during the making of Retro Active, but I'm not sure if there was officially a Retro Active tour. The Slang tour took place in 1996 because I was at their Birmingham, Alabama concert that summer.
If you don't think Thin Lizzy, Whitesnake, Def Leppard, Motley Crue, T-Rex, and MOTT THE HOOPLE are "lagit" rock bands then I know right now that you don't know what rock and roll is! Everybody knows Marc Bolan from T-Rex is a legend and same for Ian Hunter from Mott...Queen are good friends with Mott the Hoople and they would tell you they are GREAT! To name some more...Deep Purple, The Sweet, AC/DC, KISS, Styx, Cheap Trick.
Joe Elliot and Brian May are very close friends and live a few hundred yards from each other. They met in 1982 when DL were recording and Brian May went in the studio and introduced himself. DL were fans of Queen and didn't believe their eyes when May stepped in. (From 2007 "Brian May" biography)
My friend who was on international tour with hes symphonic orchestra, they stop at grand canarie, and in night time, they went to hang out in a local pub, and guess who shout at them in the pub??? Brian May, dont need to believe me, but they invited them for a drink, and he was very down to earth guy.
What really kicks ass is that sledgehammer snare sound from Rick Allen's drumkit like we hear in this video. I love to feel like I'm getting punched in the chest when he hits that baby!! I have seen the leps twice and the snare seemed to have a more standard sound to it, which was dissappointing, but I do understand changes have to be made to get the right acoustics for the various forums, but the punch from that snare is a must!!!The guitars in this video kicked all kinds of ass as well!!
I'm a huge fan of both bands so here are some facts! The Recording Industry Association of America's has Hysteria at 12 million and Pyromania at 10 million. Out of the best Rock songs of all time Bohemian Rapsody comes in at # 8 followed up by We will Rock You at # 76 and According the the BBC Queen has sold a colective 300 million albums as where DL 100 million. Rolling Stone mag has A Night at the Opera (Queen) @ 230 Pyromania @ 384 Hysteria @ 427 of the best all time albums.
Wow that`s very interesting note, yes even bryan may introduce them into rock hall of famo of LA, Thanks to bryan they have it, i really apreciate what bryan said about the lepps, even he was invited as one of the important people on Joe`s wedding in dublin
Argue all you want but I love Def Leppard AND Queen! As for sales figures... the reason you see so much for Queen is because even figures of LPs and singles are considered as 'records,' as was the case since the days of The Beatles. That's why all those bands can claim hundreds of millions in sales. There was no proper system like the Soundscan era & the global music industry prescence since the 80s. Btw, what is the name of the song they are performing?
I'm guessing the Early 90's during the Adrenalize tour. If you look at the bass drum head on Rick's drums, you'll see the Adrenalize Logo. Adrenalize came out in '92 and I don't believe they had a "Retroactive" tour. I believe their next tour was the Slang tour, on or about 1996. So I'm guessing 1992-1996. Hope this helps.
this was Freddy Mercury tribute, There are a good relation between def and queen thats why bryan played with them on this song, even in 2003 def invited bryan to play in a def concert in london they played Tie your mother down
Man, Phil almost gave Brian a run for his money in that video...but not quite. Brian is a legend. If Viv would of got to tear it up I think he might be able to show Brian up...nobody remembers how amazing Viv was with Dio and he is very under-rated.
Solo in this concert( I really appreciate Phill Collen solo and I regret that he is not famous as other guitarists in the world like "Slash" for example, he plays really good and Slash too but this second guitar player is also known for his image) with great one-armed drummer ( and maybe greatest in the "rock world") and also vocal. This version is far better for me than original one simply. Ok so... "Now I'm here, think I'm stayin' around around around :D).
This is a spot on performance by Def Leppard. Everything is great. don't expect to hear freddies voice. Elliots got a distinct voice and obviously even at that point he has lost some of it with all the screaming. All the guys did a great performance here and Leppard are very good at performing their idols songs as well.
this is officialy the introduce of vivian on the band, they have just played one show before it but nobody knew untill this show came out that vivian was the new guy in the band, OMG, it´s been 16 years ago, vivian it´s been in the band mora time that steve was, very ironic, but vivian really rocks too
Def Leppard always meant "ROCK" to me. They couldn't have chosen a better Queen song to perform (maybe only "Tie Your Mother Down") and I do think they played it very well, with a lil' help from Brian May of course ;) And for God's sake, listen to what Rick Allen can do with one arm! Better than many other drummers with both...
@duke123eltom123 It's true! It's hard to take it in when you watch him drum!..your mind is thinking two hands two feet!..but he does all those things and more with just one arm!!!..Nothing short of miraculous!!..
@goldenagerock Why Queen, has never had a diamond album is shocking but I already knew that. Yes, Def Leppard has been diamond twice. However, wikipedia still say's Queen between 150 million and 300 million (one thing on there say's over 300 million), and Leppard 65 million. Just type in "best selling artists".
what a front man...joe elliott is sooo fabulous, wish def leppard would be appreciated like they deserve...most people don't know what to do with a great talent like them...too bad for them, great for me!
Freddie may he rock in peace. John Deacon(voted top 9 out of 100 bass players world wide, and he was voted, the 4th best player 2 come from the U.K.) ,he retierd from music in 1997, the bastard :( Queen(brianmay, rogertaylor)+Paul Rodgers, toured in 2004-2006 playin queen, free, and badcompany songs, and have been writing a new album this year, and is expected to be out some time in 2008,with a world tour to follow.
Does somebody know what is the title of that song? As I suppose it is one of "Queen" song but I don't know it. This version sang and played by Def is so good I would like to know the title of an original version. Thx really:)
Def Leppard is my favorite band of all the times!!!
I LOVE DEF LEPPARD!!!
The best tribute of all time for the best frontman of all time in the best stadium to rock of all time with the best crowd ever. I call this an epic win.
Def Leppard and Queen need to co-headline a tour together. I would pay so much money!
One of the most incredible performances there has ever been! ... I miss Queen!
Omaha, NE
Holy crap this is awesome! Been a Def Leppard fan for years, just starting to get heavily into Queen (tough I've liked them always anyway)... Rick Savage (Def Lep bassist) is a big Queen fan and it shows here.

I put simply... I LOVE IT, DEF LEPPARD A GREAT CLASSIC BAND PLAYING ONE OF MY FAVORITES QUEEN`S SONG WITH BRIAN MAY, WHAT A TRIBUTE!!!
Excellent song by an excellent band covered by one of the most underrated heavy metal bands to come out the UK.
How long til someone argues that def leppard aren't heavy metal, instead being "glam".
Would of loved to be at this concert. Def Leppard is the best band ever.
always loved both bands since the 80s but together they are brill thanks for posting
Rockers, all of them. The solo Viv does shows you why he got the job. Superbe. Phil's at his best too. Great vid.
Woo! Vivian's debut!
And hey, it's his birthday today!
They do an amazing job with this song!
Awesome, Freddie would be proud!
Absolutly fantastic... Joe's voice really suits that song
effin' AWESOME!!!!
Ironic how both bands lose a member in the same year. Hope both Steve & Freddie are both rocking up there. R.I.P Steve and Freddie.
The audience looks like a heartbeat; they're all moving in unison. SO. COOL.
Now i'm here was the first Rock song that i remmember, this song made me a Rock'n Roll fan...i was 11 years old at that time, and i felt the same when i saw this video..i still like it a lot. Thnks to Brian and the Guys of DL, pretty good to me!!!!
Awesome Performance!!
technology in performing has always been a mystery to me. his echo effects and "harmonizing with himself" shed a lot of light on how it all works.
Love Queen and love Def Leppard, never thought I would find something like this :D
I put simply... I LOVE IT, DEF LEPPARD A GREAT CLASSIC BANT PLAYING ONE OF MY FAVORITES QUEEN`S SONG WITH BRIAN MAY, WHAT A TRIBUTE!!!
That was GREAT!
Classic Lep! Joe sounds amazing vocally.
A lot of queen fans say this was the best cover of the night, I agree with them :)
EXCELLENT JOB !
Absolutely! Agreed one of the best if not the best!
NO ONE WILL BE ANYWHERE CLOSE TO FREDDIE MERCURY BUT THISH IS A GREAT TRIBUTE
its awesome to see a crowd get sooo into a concert.
E X C E L E N T ! ! ! ! ! ! !
It's called "Now I'm Here" by Queen from their 1974 album Sheer Heart Attack, it was written by Brian May "The God with the big curly hair!"
NO ONE OR ANYBODY WILL BE CLOSE TO FREDDIE MERCURY, BUT THIS IS A GREAT TRIBUTE
This was Vivian Campbell's first ever live performance with the band. Joe didn't announce Campbell's appearance prior to this show - he just let people wonder who that guy was playing the guitar in the spot where Steve used to. Pretty cool.
Def Leppard is the best man!!! Queen is up there as well. You know how popular they were in 1987-1992. Probably the most popular band in the world.
WONDERFUL!!! I thing they are a good team remembering to a god... Fredy Mercury. And I love every thing that Def Leppar do, love u guys!
They played some shows during the making of Retro Active, but I'm not sure if there was officially a Retro Active tour. The Slang tour took place in 1996 because I was at their Birmingham, Alabama concert that summer.
FANTASTIC!
If you don't think Thin Lizzy, Whitesnake, Def Leppard, Motley Crue, T-Rex, and MOTT THE HOOPLE are "lagit" rock bands then I know right now that you don't know what rock and roll is! This is so fuckin awesome!!! my favourite bands together!! I loved it!!
2 of my favorite bands put together! Awesome!
But I wish Freddie was there, then THAT would be soooooooooooooooo awesome
Joe Elliot and Brian May are very close friends and live a few hundred yards from each other. They met in 1982 when DL were recording and Brian May went in the studio and introduced himself. DL were fans of Queen and didn't believe their eyes when May stepped in. (From 2007 "Brian May" biography)

and that is why joe is an excellent front man!! he's great with an audience!! I love you joe!!
excellent indeed!
it was the freddie mercury tribute concert apr 1992. They played Animal, Lets Get Rocked and this.
Perfect - I love
that's a every extra ordinary amazing drummer...go your the best of the best....
The drums sound really phat and awesome on this track :D
What really kicks ass is that sledgehammer snare sound from Rick Allen's drumkit like we hear in this video. I love to feel like I'm getting punched in the chest when he hits that baby!! greatly fantastically awsome

DEF LEPPARD!!!!
the best band in the world!!!
My favortie Queen song being played by my favorite band!!!
Great
Argue all you want but I love Def Leppard AND Queen! As for sales figures... the reason you see so much for Queen is because even figures of LPs and singles are considered as 'records,' as was the case since the days of The Beatles.

Btw, what is the name of the song they are performing?
rock on man great band great songs great era
That is a real surprise to hear. His voice has stayed so pristine. Oh well, the exception not the rule I guess.
They are the best!
As usual the camera's hardly show Viv when he solo's...
Such a great player... : )
Good stuff...
Name of the song is Now I'm Here
Phil Collen's solo on this is just ripping! The whole song just sounds huge with 3 guitars - great performance all round.
@gggordanus i do remember this marvellous concert i grab it from a radio never forget the 20th april 1992
I loov Queen, and i always will!
If only Def Leppard and Queen (w/ Mercury) truly had a chance to collaborate in the past.
Rick Fucking Allen! What a drummer! Respect!
I'm guessing the Early 90's during the Adrenalize tour. If you look at the bass drum head on Rick's drums, you'll see the Adrenalize Logo. this was Freddy Mercury tribute, There are a good relation between def and queen thats why bryan played with them on this song, even in 2003 def invited bryan to play in a def concert in london they played Tie your mother down
it was vivs first live performance as a def leppard member so it was great (Y)

@RomaniXanadu i am a huge lep fan as well.... queen is a huge influence on lep ....sav is the worlds biggest queen fan aside from me
Solo in this concert( I really appreciate Phill Collen solo and I regret that he is not famous as other guitarists in the world like "Slash" for example, he plays really good and Slash too but this second guitar player is also known for his image) with great one-armed drummer ( and maybe greatest in the "rock world") and also vocal. I don't think it's that so much as the fact that Steve's influence on the music was so huge and with it gone it was never going to be the same......
now im here, from one of their earlier albums early 70's
This was an awesome concert. I'm somewhere in the crowd. Got wasted that day
Brilliant
totaly agree with u !!
this is officialy the introduce of vivian on the band, they have just played one show before it but nobody knew untill this show came out that vivian was the new guy in the band, OMG, it´s been 16 years ago, vivian it´s been in the band mora time that steve was, very ironic, but vivian really rocks too
It wasn't that way two weeks ago. Obiviously he has gotten quite a few thumbs up since then.
Def Leppard always meant "ROCK" to me. They couldn't have chosen a better Queen song to perform (maybe only "Tie Your Mother Down") and I do think they played it very well, with a lil' help from Brian May of course ;)
And for God's sake, listen to what Rick Allen can do with one arm! Better than many other drummers with both...
OMG, how great. Joe Elliot is in his prime, and looks very good.
ROCK! ON!
Brian May es demasiado espectacular!!!
Do you know Brian May has a PhD in astrophysics from I believe Cambridge University? Not all rockers are idiots and that academia shows in the music.
It's a Queen tune called Now I'm Here.
@duke123eltom123 It's true! It's hard to take it in when you watch him drum!..your mind is thinking two hands two feet!..but he does all those things and more with just one arm!!!..Nothing short of miraculous!!..

Muito bom !
right on! :D
it's from the macro concert of wembley in april 1992 ....
@goldenagerock
How anyone can call Queen talentless is beyond me. They are probably the biggest band of all time.
cool, thanks:P
Freddie may he rock in peace.
John Deacon(voted top 9 out of 100 bass players world wide, and he was voted, the 4th best player 2 come from the U.K.) ,he retierd from music in 1997, the bastard :(

Now I'm Here rocks so hard it makes my lungs throb.
