- I wanted to share what a weekend in my life looks like. It's usually split up with being child-free and having the booboo with me. We had a family photoshoot which truthfully turned out really nice. The photos are great! An Update: I bought the cheapest option from the photo studio which was 15 black and white hi-res images with color duplicates and it works out to $60 usd a photo. I don't know if that's reasonable or high, but I wanted the photos so I guess it doesn't matter!

Hold them to the initial price they quoted. Tell them that's all you are willing to pay, they can take it or leave it. Of course, they will take it. Some money is better than no money for the time they put in to the shoot.

Your book is so good! We used to reach for it all the time (it's now in storage as we live in a van and can't cook fancy food anymore) But I'm excited to return to it in future :)

I really appreciate that you do not perpetuate myths about the ‘fairytale’ of motherhood that are so undermining to many of us.

Pregnancy leggings cup your tummy while normal leggings compress it. Anyone can look a little pregnant in those kind of leggings. Maybe that was it.

I think it's easy for us to assume others are socialized the same as we are, and expect them to know. However, those are opportunities to tell them kindly that you're not comfortable answering that question because it's based in judgemental assumptions and we're moving past that phase in humanity. 😂 The last 6-7 years, Ive learned that my previous aggressive approach to helping other understand what isn't kosher about race, gender, sex, etc. is also my assumption that they are where I am, and so I may have been really harsh toward someone willing to learn from me with a different approach.

I do not have kids & have always been asked by literally everyone! Are you having kids? No kids, why?………..I am so tired of hearing it that I found myself being rude to people asking, “if I do or don’t have kids will either outcome effect your life in any way? No? That’s what I thought!”
Asking if someone is expecting is just next level stupid. People really just need to shut up! Now I’m pissed all over again 😂

Yup, us too. We called it quits after seven years of fertility treatment after fertility treatment. I wish people would just mind their own damn business.
Ok, my brother is autistic. Of course with every person it's different, it's a spectrum. But Lauren, you are def a one of a kind person with a strong personality but I have never sensed any signs of autism in you. As far as I know..
I get so annoyed with everyone self diagnosing nowadays, just bc thy are a bit socially awkward. My brother is very smart but he has a really hard time and needs a lot of help, support and protection just to get through life. And even he is on the 'light' side of the spectrum. As I said he's really smart and communicative but still. It is a serious disability, not to be taken lightly.
I agree! ANd I feel like a lot of the social media stuff around psychiatry and mental health - I know I'm lumping it in with that - but it is a little much these days. Everyone has some problem that needs a diagnosis and set of symptoms. I dunno. I would hate to actually take away from people dealing with the challenges of it. I am certain I don't have adult autism.

I have lost count of the amount of times I've been asked if I'm pregnant or congratulated for being pregnant when I haven't been. For me it's always been women who have asked, and it's always been acquaintances - not close friends and not complete strangers. It stings every time, especially because I have had issues with getting pregnant. I have an 8 year old and have frequently been asked in the years since she was born if I'm going to have another one. This also stings because the truth is I've desperately wanted to, but wanting and being able to are two different things. I know the feeling, Lauren! I wish I had a clever comeback for when I'm asked these questions, but probably people should just STOP asking them. EVER.

I’m one and done and also gay so getting pregnant is a lot more challenging than for straight couples, but it’s absolutely ridiculous how often people ask if I’m having another child even now that he’s kindergarten age!!! I do think you’re on to something that it’s a part of this normal awkward small talk, but it really needs to go away.

She also taught me how to cook. Which in turn helped the hubby go vegan because he said he didn’t know how to cook vegan. If I cooked he would eat vegan at home. And he would eat meat if he was out at a restaurant. A short time later he was fully vegan.

I think people are waaaaay too comfortable giving their unsolicited opinions, especially to strangers online when there's a "safety barrier" with seemingly "no repercussions". I say this as a psychologist, NO ONE should feel comfortable saying or insinuating that someone else has autism, or any other disorder for that matter, especially if that person is a complete stranger.

so I made a bigger advance and the book didn't sell as well. You have to sell out the advance the publisher gives you before you make a royalty. So it's not like I make no money, but that money is long gone now haha

So I can't even finish this vlog without commenting on the "are you pregnant" question by any man or a woman for that matter. Listen up people...unless u see the baby coming out, keep your mouth shut lol! And the question, are you going to have another child....
