The thing that doesn't necessarily standout that I love is the video itself. Disturbed was able to create a story of the chasm between song writers and musicians which goes to the meaning of the song that S&P's live versions do not. Makes understanding what Paul Simon was trying to say much easier for the masses.
And it's not just the story of the video. It's the chasm of *all* the disconnection we sense at the moment. The songs that we don't share are *because* of the talking without speaking and the hearing without listening. The Neon God is what is keeping us on opposite shores.
The tissues I've 🤧 gone through since I discovered David Draiman and Disturbed on April 29, 2024. That day I have to believe my spirit 🙏 guides (out of the blue) first led me to a cover video by Dan Vasc singing "Amazing Grace" 👏 and then to the cover video of Disturbed and David Draiman singing this most POWERFUL, EMOTIONAL 😂rendition of Simon and Garfunkels "The Sound of Silence". I'm 75 and was 15 when they released this classic song of our time during the 60's. It is amazing how relevant it is today, actually I feel it is even more relevant than ever in so many different ways. I've spent days since listening and seeing the many channels and each of their reactions and 😢 almost every time. It's funny that more males have gotten teary-eyed than females, just an observation. Diane Davis
Simon & Garfield was truly Impressed and contacted David and gave their Praise on How he did His Rendition of their Song. They Placed it on their Personal Playlists. How Honorable is that. I like the way you React and do it in parts. Very Classy. David fid this son also on the Conan's show and it was loved. David was ill and Still Grabbed the Audience in Silence. All. That represented this Song are Wonderful but this Video Really Provokes one's Mind. Technology is the Problem. Look around it is Silent yet everyone is all on their Phones. We Lost the Communication with each other Face to Face. Just a Hello and How are you Doing to may I Help You are so Drastically Hard to Utter such words to a stranger in a Dr's office Waiting For a Bus or in a Store. We used to Open Doors, Say Hello, even Comment on someone's clothing. That's the Sad Part we are Loosing HUMANITY
Part 4 I recommend the live version of Disturbed doing Sound of Silence on Conan. This is the most amazing version in my opinion. Love to see what you think of it.
Love your reaction and response. Found this band after hearing this song. Love all their other heavy songs now. I’m 57. Yippee. Luv from Australia ❤️🎼❤️🎼❤️
I fucking loved it best video and singer was not to be believed so so good it brought me back to music I am in the hospital and accidentally heard it it changed my life and made.my heart open up thought I was finished with that and brought me so much joy I feel alive now anything is possible and my joy is screaming this song thank you
Question. Why does everyone skip over the symbolism there are the broken instruments in the beginning silence and the discarded ones as the song continues? I think it is great symbolism also to the song.
I'll be honest, I completely missed that. They did such a phenomenal job with the song and the video and there is a lot of symbolism in it that would probably have to watch it several times to catch it all. I am glad that people like yourself point those things out that I missed cause I get to learn/realize more interesting details
Thank you for showing the video nearly full size and for showing it from start to finish. The only other cover song that comes close to this is KD Lang's Hallelujah.
Not a problem! It's always bothered me when people do reaction vids, they pause randomly in the vid and talk. So I do a full play through first and then go back through it again (sometimes I catch things I missed the first play through).
I'll bet David Draymond's fan base probably doubled overnight with this song. once you've heard him sing like this you want to hear him sing like this on everything he sings even if it is heavy metal I think he drew a lot of people in to His band Disturbed.
I personally did a double take when I first heard Disturbed did a cover of this song cause, like many, I knew their music and wasn't sure how this would turn out. It was AMAZING THOUGH! I do want to see them do more songs like this, it was just so powerful and amazing.
Fountain pens are fun to write with. The ink showing on the top of the nib (the point) would indicate that the nib had been dipped into an inkwell. You don't get the same result when working with cartridge fountain pens. The only real trick to using either is that you need a more precise pressure and angle than you would with a modern ball point. The paper likely isn't especially special, but the texture is referred to as a linen texture because it emulates the texture of linen cloth.
Link to the original video is in the description. No other version of Sound of Silence can beat this I think, unless we somehow could get a colab between Disturbed and Simon & Garfunkel
Did you notice that the first man to stand with the music in his hand , holds the same position as he is kneeling as the piano at the beginning silent section?
The original was the warning and this cover is the war. I tell every reactor I've seen do this that have never heard of Disturbed that this is not their usual style of music lol. This was absolutely beautiful and David's vocals in this especially live are phenomenal
Yes Mr. Nerd.. Not what was always mainstream for DISTURBED, however if you really follow and love the band, you know that they absolutely are capable of putting out music that touches the heart as well as provides fuel to get things done. One of these songs that is very moving AND NOT a cover - is "Univited Guest"... ' a lil sonethin for your earhole '. ..please give it a listen.
Disturbed has some good music. I'll add Uninvited Guest to my to-do list. Had to take some time off due to new job and health issues but I'm working to record some more stuff.
@@Redneck-Alcatraz oh, sorry to hear health issues! Hope you are well. Oh thank you sooo much! I look very forward to that and more. P.S. Uninvited Guest used to make me think of relationship parting... I haven't listened to it since my husband passed just this January. Think it's gonna be a little different.
The Universe has gotten to know itself through us and how hubris indeed it has become. We are merely the Universe opening an eye before it rolls back over to slumber. Indifference, it's true nature. The Sound of Silence.
This is a prophetic song...1963......A vision was planted in my brain....He was walking everyone through what he saw.....Look around ...everyone has their heads buried in their IPHONES ....He got angry because his words like silent raindrops fell.....the Neon god is AI...and that part is very true today also....people do bow down to AI....then he goes back to the prophetic theme when he says.....the words of the prophets are written on the subway walls and tenement halls.........But there is hope ....music is the answer..the boat with all the instruments is going to the people on shore ......which is changing people today. There are so many artists that are speaking the truth and bringing people together...Tom MacDonald is one of them...I am going to his concert tonight in Nashville ....just to hear that one song. I really don't get into metal but I can't wait to feel the vibes from the audience when he sings it.
wait wait, Avenged Sevenfold did a cover of Du Hast?! I didn't know this. Will have to look it up (also the lyrics/translation because I don't remember that part). Rammstein vs A7F might be a fun one to do.
If you watch the visionary of the end of the video like you did the beginning, you might understand the words even better. You got caught up in the music (As I did too), and missed the messages he was relaying at the end. Love your vid though!
No, wasn't my first time listening to this. I have listened to this song a LOT because of how good it is. Some of my reactions are to share my views/opinions on them and to share the song as well to people who might not know about it. I also do first time reactions and I try to mark those as such so people know that I'm going in blind on the song.
I didn't like your reaction!! Your soul is like a lump of ice - no emotions! I'm disappointed! If someone wants to watch such reactions, stay. I'm running away from you!👎
It was said Simon told David it’s not his song any more it’s David’s now he was massively impressed we disturbs cover

The visuals are as powerful as the music - perfect lighting, symbolism, absolutely stunning. Beats the Conan version hands down.

Garfield ? GARFUNKEL ! !
@@johncunningham4820 I’m guessing that might have been an autocorrect
Did you know that Paul Simon was reported saying that DISTURBED now owns the song.

Or the Pentatonix version
@@someoneawesome8717 the disturbed live version is far better than the pentatonix version, which is absolutely fantastic as well

Probably because it's blatantly obvious, so people don't think it needs to be mentioned
You need to watch the live version, it's even better if that's possible but he does it beautifully. Thank you dear. Glad you enjoyed it. x

They do several covers of songs that, the original is a warning, but their cover is a call to arms, or anger the warning wasn't heeded.

A description and 'use of' an ink pen? With the music he just played? Good Lord.
My favorite cover...
Disturbed - Land of Confusion
Yeah that was an awesome cover. They also did a good cover of Faith No More's Midlife Crisis.

Make sure to put..
Small Town Titans - Mr. Grinch
On your December playlist..
