I know its kind of a hot take and I'm probably going to get flamed for it, but I actually loved Gwimbly '06 as a kid. A lot of people thought the darker take on the franchise was out of character or felt forced, but I really connected with the deeper themes and felt like it gave Gwimbly a lot of depth that wasnt present in prior entries. Plus it was the first game to ever feature his iconic gwimbly gun, so it's got to get credit for that at the very least. Anyway, thats just my opinion 😌
Listen man, the gwimbly gun was a cheap copout to distract from the obvious lack of development from all of the side characters. Because of how the gwimbly gun was upgraded the relationship meter with all of gwimblys beloved gang became an xp bar for whenever your next level up came. While we were supposed to be growing closer to these characters as we became stronger we really just gave them cans like an absurd material system.
the mr millipede and super gwimbly kissing scene was a little weird but I loved the game for it’s tenacity! I heard someone made a great remaster of it in unity recently too
@@pupsic0la idk, I felt like the series had kind of been hinting toward that kind of relationship for the past two or three entries anyway, plus it made the whole betrayal and then reunion and then second betrayal hit even harder. It was supposed to have corned beef to stand out from Gwimbly but keep with the corn theme. Apparently a playtester heavily disliked corned beef and threw his controller at the screen upon the realization that that was the collectible.
I am the creator of this software and I appreciate you taking the time to play it. I made this over the course of about an hour before posting it on our itch page. The game started out as fan art of Gwimbly that I posted on a discord server. I then turned it into an exercise to see how fast I could create a platformer that copies the Atari style. Most of the time went into downloading different color palettes and getting distracted. Although the game was meant to be a funny joke, we were surprised to see it get as many players as it did. I was the lead writer for the first four Gwimbly games back in the day. Most people didn't understand the deep lore of the creamed corn, but that's just how games were then.
I know everyone liked the sweeping epic that was Gwimbly Adventure 2, but for me there's no more nostalgic, perfect moment in time than the original Gwimbly Adventure. I remember looking for every single one of the 346 cans of creamed corn spread throughout the areas. I never got all of them, but that makes it kind of a time capsule for me now, a little moment of my childhood perfectly preserved, like the corn in a can of creamed corn.
I loved the part when Count Groxia sent his "G-100" robots out to find Small The Dog's best friend "Lizzy" bc he swallowed a Chaos Corn None of them knew that the main villain of the game, the god of destruction made out of lava, "Disorder", possessed Lizzy
I'll never forget when Gwimbly transformed into Super Gwimbly for the first time and gwimbled an entire planet! It really set the tone for all media in the 21st century.
One time I saw a recreation of the original first Gwimbly game from 1958. A lot of people don't remember it, but it was made out of repurposed radar tech, it was called "Dinner for Two" and the goal was for players to feed each other little kernels of creamed corn. Ahead of its time, man. Everything today is about competition and violence, but back then you received points for providing a friend with a healthy, delicious meal.
Man, you're lucky. The oldest one I've seen was "Starfight" from 1962 (yes, really; it was developed at MIT on the PDP-1, one of the oldest computers). It was about two spaceships nicknamed "Point" and "Block" engaged in a dogfight in the gravity well of a black hole; the goal was for a player to push another into the black hole by launching cans of creamed corn at each other. This was actually the debut of Gwimbly and Groxia; their heads were actually based on "Point" and "Block" respectively, and the design of their bodies followed from there.
If [Adult Swim] Games wasn’t being run into the ground by notoriously cheap asshole David Zaslav, we’d *HAVE* a real Gwimbly game by next year. Now the best we can hope for is an appearance or playable character in Multiversus (alongside Mr. Boss, because who _else_ from Smiling Friends would suit a Smash-Like platform fighter?). Edited: I feel like the only other characters that could properly represent [AS] in Multiversus are Brock Samson, Spear and Fang, the Robot Copernicus from Unicorn Warriors Eternal, and the Aqua Teen Hunger force as Pokemon Trainer/TMNT from Injustice 2 style swapping fighter (Master Shake would only attack with melee weapons and exploding TV’s and other objects he’d throw on the ground, maybe he’d also summon rain clouds and lightning, but the more does it, the more he melts into a puddle, causing you to swap him out for the other two Hunger Force members).
My biggest Gwimbly nostalgia moment is the end of level 3 stage 1 in Battletoads: Corn Creamer Edition where Gwimbly says “It’s gwimblin’ time” and does his iconic victory dance
I can see how one would play this game for hours straight, I played for a genuine 15 minutes and could keep going too -I beat the game, 100% -tried to go through it as fast as possible, got caught on that beautifully sprited bridge tho -I died to both spike traps on separate runs -I went through the stage forwards and backwards while hearing the entire OST (is that the song I think it is?) -I went through the game while holding the space button, jumping continuously, pretty tough. -I tried to see if I could wall jump, worked well enough -I attempted Gwimbly's iconic dance, by spamming back and forth atop the beautifully sprited bridge (This must have been before his iconic catchphrase.) -even tried to do some clipping into the beautifully sprited bridge, as latter Gwimbly games were famous for. Happy to have experienced such a part of history
I was never able to play the classic gwimbly titles since I didn’t grow up in that era, but I have a bunch of memories of playing gwimbly tales on my grandmother’s Nokia, taht song of the first level is glued to my memory.

Jokes on them though because the Gwimbly gun had realistic blood effects in math attack just like in the real gwimbly games anyway
The sprite for Mr.millipede Looked WAY too goofy as i remember. It got to the point where It became a giant meme in the Late 2000s,And people think that blatant mario ripoff copied the original gwimbly game, due to weege's immense popularity!
So much nostalgia beaming through my soul watching this video. I remember playing Gwimbly Fighter 3 Creamed Strike as a toddler and its the only thing that makes me forget about my dad getting drunk and beating us
I think it’s so depressing that the failed Wii release of the Gwimbly Classic Collection caused the franchise to be forgotten. It honestly wasn’t even that bad, they just rushed it and chose the wrong console to focus their attention on, shoehorning the motion control into the old games didn’t work well.
I never got to play any of the Gwimbly games back in the day (because I wasn't born yet) but thankfully his recent resurgence in popularity has introduced me to a really cool game franchise.

When I first played Gwimbly, it was because I'd mained him in Smash and I wanted to see what all the hype was about. Gwimbly 64 and Super Gwimbly 2 were just so much fun I couldn't stop playing.

Honestly my favorite gwimbly game was this point and click game set in a horror mansion, I forget the name but you played as Mr millipede, searching around and doing puzzles to find gwimbly! It had some weird secrets too like the creamed corn altar
Do you guys remember how Gwimbly was originally going to cameo in Grand Theft Auto 4 but the deal fell through last minute? It is unknown how and where Gwimbly would appear in the game but those who have looked at his files using modding tools like Open IV have speculated that Gwimbly was going to appear as a playable minigame on one of the missions or as one of the fake websites on the GTA 4 mock-up internet browser. As someone who grew up constantly playing Gwinbly World on the Playstation 2 (my very first console) and eating Gwimbly Cream Corn Cereal, I was pretty sad to find out he was axed. Especially as this would have been Gwimbly's last appearance for a long time until he made it into Smash Ultimate. Maybe someone will restore his cameo someday. Who knows? Gwimbly might even appear in GTA 6!
I’m surprised nobody ever brings up Glimbly’s Playground, I could’ve sworn nearly every other kid in the late 90s had that shit. Honestly looking back at it it’s pretty freaky looking. Mr. Millipede showing up as an enemy and Gwimbly’s weirdly deep voice make me wonder if it was maybe outsourced to another studio so early in the Gwimbly franchise’s development that maybe it contains remnants of the original lore bible????
The stories that started to come up about that game used to terrify me. I don't really remember all the details perfectly, but it was like if you died on the last spikes over and over until they disappeared and then tried to walk backwards for an hour, the screen would eventually fade to black, leaving you in a strangely detailed room that looked like a very lived-in, 70s style child's bedroom. As you walked, you would pick up coins, but they would drift towards the screen and spin in the darkness for a little too long. It was totally silent except for Gwimbly breathing harder as you picked up coins, like he was afraid. But once you had picked up everything, the game stopped for ten minutes. You couldn't turn it off or move or do anything. It would then close and tell you the game was corrupted, and when you tried to play, it was just Gwimbly falling, forever. Anyone remember being told that and trying to get it to do it???
i'll never forget the final scene of the third game, where gwimbly said "its gwimblin' time! ooh ooh ooh!" and gwimbled all over the place. best gaming moment in history. brought tears to my 7 year old eyes.
Oh my goodness Dear lord have mercy on me This is like reliving parts of my early childhood Too bad that my dad sold almost all of my vintage Gwimbly cartridges when he left for good Thanks for the nostalgia though
I like the thought of there being so much fan-made Gwimbly games masquerading as real to the point people in the future start thinking it was an actual game.
Fun fact, we were supposed to be a vehicular combat game surrounding the characters in the series. You're supposed to start with four characters at the start and then be able to unlock 8 more of them and once you beat the game with every other character, you can unlock the final boss as a playable character. It was meant to be a parody of Twisted Metal and Vigilante 8. It was canceled when the PlayStation 2 and the GameCube were announced as they thought it wouldn't sell well and vehicular combat was more aimed towards teens and young adults.
Mr. Millipede was my favorite character, I used to have a copy of Gwimbly on the PlayStation 1 but for some reason it just wouldn’t boot up anymore, probably all the scratches I put on the back of it…
Ok but why does no one talk about the Gwimbly game where Gwimbly's evil counterpart, Nightshade The Darkness, was the main character and he had a gun? That was such a weird era Especially when they made a Gwimbly film. An adult Gwimbly film
My favorite gwimbly game is probably gwimbly teaches typing, not that it’s a good game it’s just the memories of speed running the game in the computer lab so that I could go into cool math games and play gwimbly online with my friends.

Oh my goodness
Dear lord have mercy on me
This is like reliving parts of my early childhood
Too bad that my dad sold almost all of my vintage Gwimbly cartridges when he left for good
Thanks for the nostalgia though
I like the thought of there being so much fan-made Gwimbly games masquerading as real to the point people in the future start thinking it was an actual game.
I remember when Gwimbly got a port on the Philips CDI. The cut scenes were horribly done, but the game play was surprisingly good.
People like to call New Gwimbly the game that killed Gwimbly, but it was the first game I ever got for my DS when I was little and I enjoyed it.
Oh man this brings back memories, I've been playing Gwimbly since I was a homonculus
My favourite gwimbly game moment is in the gwimbly life simulator for the Nintendo virtual boy where you eat the cream corn
I still remember that Japanese port cream corn mania. Gwimbly games are the best.
I’ve got some memories of playing gwimbly 06 with my sis and I when we were younger :)
Who remembers gwimbly kart 64???
I hope this spawns a genuine game of Gwimbly. Like if they started a kickstarter to fund the game, loads of us would back it.
Gwimbly was my very first game ever, I miss it so much
I adore the affection Gwimbly is getting, but his design is *hard* into the 90s 'Tude era, so the 2600 appearance feels very Homebrew
That was really funny, you should make more
An entire millisecond? That's more enjoyment then an ubisoft game has given me in the past decade!
"Gwimbly Space" from Wii, that was the tittle that got me in!
even though there isn't much to the game by todays standards, it's still an important part of video game history.
Anyone remember gwimbly and knuckles?
Legendary cross over
Mr. Millipede was my favorite character, I used to have a copy of Gwimbly on the PlayStation 1 but for some reason it just wouldn’t boot up anymore, probably all the scratches I put on the back of it…
Maaaaan back in the day the original Gwimbly soundtrack was the shit.
people sayin its fake clearly don't know the Mandela effect, IT HAPPENED! YOU JUST DONT REMEMBER! yall missed out on gwimbly fr
An alternate dimension where european amiga character design reigned supreme
Man, if only i can go back and experience the gwimbly craze 😢
Brings back so many creamed corn memories
“Gwimbly Advance” for the win!
These “smiling friends” they are a powerful entity, a powerful entity indeed. THATS good because I too desire power!
I feel sorry for kids not alive during the 90's. Gwimbly is the only reason I even like corn at all let alone cream corn.
Cant believe tetra bit couldn't find this legend
Ok but why does no one talk about the Gwimbly game where Gwimbly's evil counterpart, Nightshade The Darkness, was the main character and he had a gun? That was such a weird era
Especially when they made a Gwimbly film. An adult Gwimbly film
My favorite gwimbly game is probably gwimbly teaches typing, not that it’s a good game it’s just the memories of speed running the game in the computer lab so that I could go into cool math games and play gwimbly online with my friends.
I remember playing gwimbly advanced all the time at my cousins' house, good times
Liked for blue archive cafe theme
Good spotting! And thankyou for the like
Ive lost count of how mamy times ive watched a playthrough of that old classic.
(However many was in this video, there were several)
I missed Gwimbly so much!
Remember when they tried to make that edgy adult Gwinbly cartoon? Really glad it didn't make it past the pilot.
I remember Grimbly being the first game I ever torrented on my dad's windows xp.
Awesome I used to love the Gwimbly Games
This was truly the first cream corn type game.
