- This video provides an in-depth look at how Cort Guitars builds their great acoustic guitars. As one of the world's biggest makers of guitars Cort implements a blend of state of the art technology with vintage guitar building techniques to produce great acoustic guitars. Now for the first time you can get an inside look at how their guitars are built.
This video is part of the Factories That Rock series. Be sure to see other Factories That Rock videos about Cort including the one minute music video tour and the full acoustic guitar factory tour. Visit www.CortGuitars.com to learn more.
Two years ago I bought a Cort Gold D8-NAT guitar. From the first day it surprised me, it is very well built and its woods are fantastic. As a live guitar technician and musician, I have tried all kinds of models, brands and ranges. Simply put, the value for money is unrivaled. Congratulations on his work, although he had known the brand for years and knew its productive capacity, he had not seen the factory tour. Hopefully they would achieve the same level in high-series flamenco guitars.
Cort Gold guitars are fantastic.
I sold guitars retail for 40 years, and have seen and played some really nice Corts. In the last 20-25 years Asian manufacturing has come a long way, with quality control better than the states in many cases.
I have had my Korean built Cort Jumbo Acoustic for nearly 20 Years I had actually gone into the store to buy a Guild Jumbo. After several hours of talking to my guitar playing friends, they agreed I had picked up an exceptional guitar at a great price.
I thank the employees at the Cort company in Korea they make a great product I love my guitar ! Thank you all for your great craftsmanship .You are the best in the world .Never forget it. Your friend forever FRYD CHIKEN ROCK ON my brothers and sisters !!!
I have recently purchased a Cort Little CJ (Little Cort Jumbo) electro-acoustic guitar which has a small 23-and-a-half-inch scale length, and I can only agree that the feel, tone and build quality of this guitar still contrive to exceed my expectations. What a stonking quality little guitar it is for the money. Thank you Cort.
rrrrr it rurrrrruffrfiiigyggiiiiigohhgyhhjjjkkkktigii
I bought one yesterday! Half the price of brand names for the features and outstanding build quality, finish and electronics.
I have a Cort Earth Grand Acoustic Guitar and is awesome and beautiful. Congrats to all the people from this factory.
Where is it made?
@@robertb2444 Doesnt matter if it plays great.
@@robertb2444 Hi Robert! I don't listen to things very well but in the documentary it seems there is one Cort plant, but correct me if I'm wrong. Does a certain factory do a better job than the other if there is more than one plant? It seems they are made amazingly well, but I know little about guitars. Maybe I'll consider one as I would like a steel string acoustic guitar with good wood and a lower price.
@@robertb2444 Indonesia i guess
Make sure you tried the guitars physically before you buy, I literally went 5 hours traveling to the guitar store and test it and 5 hours back, and it broke my expectation as well, not all expensive guitar will definitely sound good than the cheap one. The model I wanted to buy wasn't as good as I thought it to be, that's the D8 gold series, instead I bought the D6 mahogany ones. That's my 2 cents. Thank you Cort for producing such an amazing guitars at an affordable price tag!
Cort Guitars are seriously great to play! Instead of going for huge brands go for a Cort Earth series because of their amazing looks, playability and cost provided.
Bought a Cort recently...best guitar I've ever owned.
There is a place for Asian-made instruments for sure. They are very much a value, however, they are very much different in construction that most players don't even understand or care about. For instance, most Asian guitars have either polyester or polyurathane finishes (plastic) as opposed to Nitrocellulose finishes on Gibsons and Martins, which let the wood breathe and age. Of course, this only matters if they use quality woods, which Asian-mades don't typically have. Asian factories often color woods to confuse buyers- a lot like old Harmonys and Kays of the 20's to 60's. The one good thing I see, is Asian guitars usually utilize 2-way truss rods as opposed to Gibson, Martin and Mexi Strats and Teles which use an old-style single action compression rod. There are MANY more differences too long to go into here, but I hope this helps.
I bought a Gold Series D6 today and I'm very happy with it, been playing for 6 years and it's time for an upgrade, it's priced very reasonably so u can buy it without compromising other parts of your lives unlike you're buying a Gibson, Martin or Taylor. I compared with a Farida D67 with juiced up specs with spruce rosewood abalone binding all solid. Yea it was sounding better but not sounds extra 500 dollars amazing to me. My point is if you want value out of your purchase and every dollar, look no further than Cort brand, I think no other company would make such an amazing guitar at this price point you pay.
I have a Cort Earth 900 and it's beautiful and sounds amazing.
Cort guitars is a Korean company, and they make one of the best guitars in the world. I play a cort guitar too, and it makes a very clean soft sound rather than expanding loud like the seagull guitars. They are durable and very strong even with a narrow neck due to its great stability.
Still happy with my Cort SFX10 bought new 8 years ago. It looks and plays great. Quilted maple, Fishman pickups, full binding and cool tortoise inlays.
I love Cort guitars they deliver a very clean, warm and bright sound. ANd it's playability is the best.
jerry jah congratulations on being youtube's racist of the week!
ngomong apaan sih lu?
jerry jah shut the up bitch
ZOMG!!! o_O
I own a Cort acoustic, i really had my heart set on buying an expensive prestige brand acoustic.
The problem was that i tried many guitars and even took my old guitar into the stores when testing. Money wasn't really an issue, i wanted an evenly toned guitar that had good intonation.
I passed up some vastly more expensive guitars to buy the Cort that i currently own.
Sometime i think maybe i should have bought one of those highly regarded guitars, but at the time, they just didn't compare.
I love both my acoustic and electric cort. Fantastic value for money. If the headstock isn’t a priority, you can get a beautiful instrument.
Recently purchased a Cort MR710 and am really enjoying it. Great sounding.
I've had mine for 15yrs, going on 16. I bring it to my local musicstore every now and then to compare with other guitars im interrested in. The guy who works there always gets so surprised when he hears it ;D
But then again, Its really well played in and I have taken very good care of it during the years :)
@@rezznax Great to hear! Thanks for sharing :). I purchased this guitar second hand today. Will receive it by the end of the week! It has had two previous owners but it has been really well looked after and hasn't been played a lot (yet :D).
@@NobelSong The wait and anticipation is always half the fun. Hope it serves you well (and you it).
@@rezznax Thank you 😊
It just arrived yesterday! I will be honest I still prefer to play with my warmer sounding nylon stringed classical!
I think it may sound better once the Steel Strings are replaced though. Switching from nylon to classical will take some getting used to. Fret board is different too.
Once the strings are refreshed I thinm it will be great for strumming. But still prefer my other guitar for finger picking and softer songs 😊
I have a Cort .44 caliber, and it sounds really good
A proud owner of a cort guitar.. It's awesome
I have Cort AD810-12 OPB guitar and I think, that I could not buy better instrument. I believe, this guitar producer makes really good acoustic guitars.
It does not matter, where was this guitar produced. Its simply good.
I really wanted to work in Cort Guitar Factory ❤
I have a (now discontinued) Ibanez AW1050ce dreadnought made by Cort. Have to agree with the other positive comments about Cort. Workmanship is second to none.
I had the Cort Earth 100 series electro acoustic for years and it was brilliant. Even more so considering the price point in Australia was only $459. Played nicely, sounded good and very rarely required tuning adjustment. I would definitely buy another solid top guitar from Cort.
My Myrtlewood GA bevel has such a fantastic figuring to it and the finish is up there with the best manufacturers,
It has a beautifully balanced unique voice I can only presume will get even better with age... maybe I got lucky, I truly believe it would still be a bargain at double the price..
Fantastic work team Cort 👌
Needed anther six string and being a street mucian. I needed a good one my first Cort.....I bought really cheep after going in there for years picking it up and playing it. mainly it was left handed!! the best Folk guitar Ive played with qaulety without a doubt.....,A 65 year old hear.
i just brought the Cort MR710F 6 days till its delivered, cant wait 🥳
Well, I might as well put my 2 cents worth in. I have 2 Gibsons, a BB King Lucille and a Les Paul and they are both awesome guitars. I also have 3 Chinese made guitars and their quality is every bit as good, if not better than Gibson's and they didn't cost nowhere near as much as the Gibson's. Might as well get used to it, we are going to see more and more Chinese and Mexican guitars in this country. I read a while back that Gibson has some parts that are made in China. That doesn't bother me at all as long as the workers do a good job. Yes, I wish foreign guitar factories treated their workers better, but we can't control that so why get all upset over something we have no control over.
There's more to them than the neck, but going to the top of the pile isn't generally done by gibson on any guitars that are in the mid 4 figures range or less. By that, I mean care in wood selection and workmanship like you'll find on a collings guitar.
Poor selection of body wood can result in body hump (actually, even good wood selection might result in that - it's present on a lot of les pauls, in my opinion, a design flaw and the fingerboard and neck should've been slightly proud of the top of the guitar.
I've had four used collings guitars, and none of them have had any movement (the oldest is 13 years old) - all electrics. I'm sure the acoustics move and need attention to the top and neck joint over time.
Point being, if you do some of the one-off things properly and budget hours (and money) to do them, you can really make a superior guitar. It's probably not easy to do that in production numbers, though, beyond very small production. Gibson's production work is usually pretty good, but nobody would confuse it for collings. Their custom work wasn't as good at collings' production work.
In this country? Do you think everyone watching is from your country?
I bought a second hand Cort as-0c4 and to be honest am blown away by the sound and playability.. I have a low end Martin dcme and although this was made in USA he Cort is comparable.i would say the fret end finish on the Martin is better than the Cort and maybe the tuners on the Martin are better but it was twice the cost new.. if you find a second hand 'as' Cort please try one and don't skip over it for another well know brand as u may regret not getting an excellent guitar. Hope this helps someone!
Cort STARTED in South Korea. These days they are operating factories in China and Indonesia for the same reason U.S. companies did so in Korea: cheaper labor costs.
Oddly enough, Cort workers are protesting for the same reasons American ones have done in recent decades: their jobs are being sent abroad. Maybe in 20 years from now, Chinese workers will protest for their jobs being outsourced to Africa...
Very true I am a South African SOUTH AFRICANS are very fast learners high dexterity .
Beating European learning curves xxx
Ur forgetting abt Japan
I LOVE my Cort electric, looking to get one of the acoustics soon.
Bang for buck probably one of the best guitar brands. A lot of working musicians use Cort guitars. If you take the politics/bias/ignorance out of it then what you have (mainly) is a great guitar brand for reasonable money, and that makes sense to 99% of people.
I bought a cort earth 300ss 2 years ago,it has a solid adirondack spruce top and solid mahogany back and sides cost me 500euro the build and finish work is flawless and iv yet to hear a guitar that sounds better so great job cort 😀,try one if you get the chance you won't be disappointed guys
I have a Parkwood Guitar which is also made by Cort. Although I have several more more expensive guitars this one is the one that I play the most.
Cort is for craftmanship AND ethics, amazing quality/value. Long live the Corts
Thank you for sharing this video of that factory. It definitely rockz.
i have a cort guitar and it really sounds nice
Up until 2006, Cort manufactured a line of high quality guitars under the name 'Cort Parkwood'. In 2006, Cort turned Parkwood into a brand of its own and now does not feature the Cort name or logo. This is a brand sold exclusively through big box stores such as Guitar Center. Cort continues to manufacture the Parkwood Brand in South Korea, the Hybrid series coming from Indonesia.
Very informative and well shot. My cousin has just bought a CJ1F and is keen to see how it's built. Thx for sharing!
I am impressed, I wont look at Cort guitars the same way anymore
ahirnya kualitas produk guitar indonesia. mendunia. mantap. bangga saya jadi orang indonesia. 🇮🇩🇮🇩🇮🇩🇮🇩
Cor-tek cooperation - cort Is south korea brand ...🗿
cort itu brand dari korea selatan.
pabriknya ada di china & indonesia. spek highend dibuat di pabrik cina
I bought a Cort Earth Mini and I must say, it simply sounds amazing. I really don't see the difference between the quality of American and Chinese Factories and why people make such a big deal out of it.
American don,t need no stinking jobs understand that ?

Jack Westheimer set up business connections with Japanese guitar makers in the 1960s with the intention of importing Japanese made guitars into America. Some of the many brands that Jack Westheimer is associated with were Teisco, Cortez, Pearl, Silvertone, Kingston, Cort and many others. In 1973, Jack Westheimer founded the Yoo-Ah company (“you-and-I”) in South Korea with Yung H. Park as a business partner.
First time seeing how to made a guitar...cool.
I understand the manufacture of the NDX 20 model! I have an NDX 50 made in China and it is of very good quality! The difference is in their heads!
AlipBaTa is the final quality check for Cort Indonesia,. don’t ever doubt the brand.
Cort guitars are well made. Cort OEM manufactures many famous import guitar lines and consistently does a good job. But Cort guitars just don't have good resale so it's advisable to look for them used. Their acoustics are good for laying down backing tracks and general comping, they tend to be easy to mic and stay in tune pretty well once set up well. Their electrics have pickups that work well with pedals but sometimes they need to be wax potted or will squeal. And as with most Asian guitars you can expect they will need fret sprout trimming and occasionally a new nut after about a year along with truss rod adjustment. I have a couple of their acoustics and a bass I keep around and they work well for their intended purposes. Not a big fan of their amps.
All arguments aside, if I tried one, and it felt and sounded good, I'd buy it, regardless of whether it was hand made or otherwise
I own Cort ad810e it has a great sound. Im really love it
Cort Kx5fr and Cort ad810 op... two babies of mine
This i just amazing. Now I have more reasons why I need to keep my Cort Guitar. 👍❤️✋

So many guitar in the world and im here still dreaming to have a guitar.
Willingness is power my friend,
you will already have your guitar and "Cort" is an excellent choice. Greetings!
Appreciate your very rational reply. Let there be peace!
I Love Cort Guitars 😍😍😍
It is impressive.
Origin company is Korea
but if im not mistaken they build several factories, one of them in Indonesia
they produce lots of brand from Ibanez, Cort, and many more (i forgot the rest)
who knows the gear you have has "made in America, or China" is actually from Indonesia??? they can print the label easily, just mention any country you wish
Yamaha too
Squire too
the factory shown in video is Chinese
PRS too. You can find on UA-cam. PRS guitar factory, made by PT Cort Indonesia. Caught on camera

Please answer me, " What is fret size of mostly Cort low entry level acoustic gutar series" ???? ( 6230? or other size)
Best guitar maker, happy watching from the philippines
When I see this video, I'm remembering Alif Ba Ta from Indonesia, one of the best fingering guitar style in the world.
Damn wish I could test drive one of these.
I have written a piece for guitar which people say is 'comforting'. It's called Waltz For Mrs K and is on UA-cam.
This can't be legit they would have about 12 mins to get that thing built and loaded up on a truck in this competitive industry
Fact: Cort is an American-Korean brand that build their products on Indonesia.
I have cort ad810. After 2 months of playing it, it started buzzing on 2nd fret. All the strings buzz on the 2nd fret only. I don't know whats wrong with it. It was not like this back from 2 months. Can someone please help🥺🙏

A friend have a Cort acoustic guitar, He don't know which model, ´cause there is no model imprint, but sure sounds really good! We use it for recording mostly, and it really has a nice chime to it!
Loved the video
really awesome
c'est incroyable de voir comment Cort a fait des progrès en quelques années !
même si c'est de la production de masse , ce n'est pas si mauvais...
Nice clip! Keep up the good work :-)
I would really love to see a video like this about the electric and semi hollow guitars as well. What about it Cort?\
Just because it was made in China doesn't mean it's terrible. After watching the video with the Asian workers working on these guitars, I can see that they're really good quality :)
Now i will make my own guitars,i got the secret
Awesome guitar!
wanted to see when & how the bridge plate is installed on the internal surface of the guitar's top tonewood. And when & how they drill the holes for the pins. They did not show that :(
my Yamaha acoustic-electric guitar cost me $266 after tax brand new. It's made in China and the quality, precision, and sound it produces is simply stunning. If it was made in the US, I'm sure it would've costed me atlest $500 because of all the human labor it involves.
Quality costs $
@@desertmulehunter You need to define "Quality". I agree the best US made instruments are superb but several well known US brands particularly those whose names begin with the last letter in the musical alphabet, have produced some real dog rockets in the last many years. Expensive dog rockets at that. Modern CNC manufacture makes it possible to make a very playable decent sounding guitar at price points unimaginable in the past. $250 will actually get you a guitar that plays well off the rack and you can gig with. You couldn't do that for $250 in 1975 dollars in 1975. And the dollar was worth many, many times more then.
Are they as good as better examples of "vintage golden years" US instruments were in their own heyday? More consistent, yes. Most Martins, Gibsons, Fenders, in 1975 required setup and tweaking before being gigworthy and dealers, who charged full A Mark markup retail, had a bench guy and often put one to three hours into each guitar that came in the door. If they bitched the rep would pull their franchise so they grinned and bore it. The customer did not realize it, they assumed the guitar came from the factory right. When the New york places like Sam Ash and Mannys started selling mail order and undercutting the dealers people found that these guitars were marginally playable from the factory. Even pre CBS Fenders often had flaws.
The older guitars often had better wood because there was a lot more wood around in those days and more of it was old growth prime lumber. And there were no treaties and no government interference which have roiled the industry. In that respect the vintage c***s are partly right. But again not ALL vintage guitars had great wood. Wood is wood and always can have internal flaws, you always had beautiful guitars that never quite sounded as good because that particular chunk of wood just was no good acoustically. Most Asian guitars are built of nontraditional species of faster growing new growth woods. Not necessarily bad, but sometimes different. If you want a real "cannon" bluegrass guitar you want old growth Adirondack spruce tops, simple as that, but is that what you really want? It impresses people at parking lot picking meets but isn't necessarily good either for recording or mic'd live sound. Sure, there are all acoustic bluegrass gigs in chamber music worthy halls but if you are playing those then maybe it's time to think about it.
The two American companies today that can consistently make good high end guitars are not the old traditional makers, but Taylor and PRS. They have it going on but the price for their US made core guitars is very high. Their Asian lines are made by companies like Cort and Samick and are good value for money instruments but admittedly not as nice as the core lines. They give you the professional brand recognition, though, and the prices are not much higher than the Asian brand names, so everyone wins in a manner of speaking.
My best guitar ever.
that's it, the best guitar that I own
Wow I thought corts were supposed to be low quality.. Looks like I'll be checking some out on my next acoustic guitar purchase
The video shows it is low quality and mass produced. Look at the bracing ! Way over sized and the glue job was horrendous.
Anthony Scira oh, im not THAT knowledgeable on acoustics. it was better than what i thought it'd be i guess
Anthony Scira Are you serious? Look at other brand of guitar, perhaps Gibson they have terrible glue jobs and they can't fit a bridge correctly for the last 4 years... Cort are mass produced but they most certainly do not lack quality. If you go and try some, and find the one you like the best you will be over whelmed how nice they are. I used to want a Martin 00.15 really bad but after trying them the L450 is overal the better instrument for under 50% of the price of the martin.
I'm just sorry for the poor people who work in these Chinese factory's. It would be cool if we could give the workers that built our guitars tips :P
I like building my own. But when I was at a Taylor factory tour they used glue way more sparingly than the Cort video.
I got Cort LC100 NS. I bump the headstock and got dent a bit. I want to apply some thin top coat to hide the dent. What specific topcoat does Cort uses on their satin finish guitar?
