    Cort produces many of the guitars we see and play that does not contain the brand name Cort on them. Any Squiers you see that the serial number starts with "IC", that's Indonesian Cort. Most of the guitars we see than are made in Indonesia were made by Cort. World Music, Cort, and Samick produce almost all the overseas guitars we see in the states.

    I have a squier affinity from Cort Indonesia. It is solid! The people that this passed through knew what they were doing and took they're time doing it. Iv played and held all the big companies guitar model's over thirty years of playing and meeting other players. And my squier affinity Stratocaster from this place is breathtaking! I love it. It get the spot in my one case and the others are just sitting on stands. I know alot of people bust your balls over whatever but you guys make some amazing guitars. Phillip McKnight and toneking just interviewed a custom shop master builder and asked him if he had to buy a squier Wich would he buy. There's like ten on the wall ,they grab 4 and dude picks the affinity and can't believe how good it is. Afterwards when asked what makes custom shop so great and he was loss for words because of how much he just praised corts work. Go watch the videos for yourself. Il take my Cort Indonesia squiers over the mim and usa. Now this only applys to the Indonesia aspect. There are squiers that are built in China mostly the bullet model. But the high-end squier is here. Check out the squier classic vibe guitars, those are amazing!

    For my 21st bday, I received a gift -- and that gift today is still my favorite guitar, out of everything that I currently own, and probably always will be. It was a Fender Tele FlameTop Special -- I didn't know this at the time, but this guitar was made by Cort -- NOT Fender. Yes, it says Fender on the headstock -- but Cort made it. Fender just inspected it and slapped their name on it. This model (FMT Tele) is actually so popular, that over 10 years later, Fender still has it in their catalog, and Cort is still making it! It's a Tele, with a set neck, perfectly smooth and sculpted neck joint so no problems accessing upper frets, and it also has a Flame Maple Top! I'm not sure if it's a veneer top or a cap -- to me it really doesn't matter, but it looks amazing and it FEELS amazing as well -- it's carved very slightly -- not like a Les Paul type carve, but it's still a figured / carved top as to the height of the top is higher where the bridge is and it bevels off around the edges. This guitar also came with a very awesome 15.75" radius on the entire fretboard, and two Seymour Duncan hum buckers with a coil-tap push/pull on the Tone Knob. More than 10 years later, I still play this guitar every day. It needs some work, that's for sure -- the frets are dented to all hell, it needs a re-fret -- I need to have stainless steel frets put on there basically, but that's it. Everything else is perfectly fine. The most important point though is that this guitar cost just under 500 dollars back then, and I believe the cost is still somewhere around there today on this same model -- It's unreal the kind of quality you can get on a guitar without spending a fortune. Cort FTW! I should mention though, that my guitar was made by Cort in Korea -- not Indonesia. I don't know what the difference is, but I don't think they have a Korean factory anymore.

    • @explorerschannel4103
      @explorerschannel4103 8 років тому

      +surgeyX if u have jumbo frets u can just take an iron file and file till the dents disapear, then do it on the frets that werent so dented so they become the same height as thye ones u filed. then use the file to round them a bit, also put some duck tape between the frets so u do scratch the wood.
      did this to my cort x-custom yesterday and its as if it where brand new!

    • @5urg3x
      @5urg3x 8 років тому +1

      +Explore&ShootTV Nah that won't work the frets were jumbo when I got it, they've been worn down some bad...even the ones that aren't dented need to be crowned...would just be easier to replace them all with stainless steel.

    Most popular brand guitars between $300-$700 U.S. dollars of Korean or Indonesian origin were most likely made by Cort. They are subcontracted by Ibanez, Fender (Squier and DeArmond), B.C. Rich, ESP (LTD), and Kramer (pre Gibson ownership, not sure about now). To the "Cort sucks" crowd: Chances are you own one of their guitars and don't even know it.

      Hi, Andrew. I recently purchased a Cort artisan4 custom z bass, and love it.. I went thru about 6 basses in a 2 year timespan, and nothing felt right until the cort. It is neck-thru, high end bartolini's, zebrawood top amd back on mahogony, rosewood board, well dressed frets, and one thing we all appreciate on a active guitar is that it has a simple clip opening to replace the battery- none of that little screws bullshit!

      Brad Daniels That's great to hear Brad. I was very tempted to buy a Cort "Les Paul" recently but tried a PRS Bernie Marsden and went for that as it sounded really nice. Better than Gibsons I've tried at significantly more money. Every time I pick up my Epiphone Indonesian acoustics though I still find it hard to believe how good they are for the money.

    • @JamaisMEC
      @JamaisMEC 7 років тому +2

      I use a Schecter Demon-6 solely for jazz, since it has an intrinsic dark/mellow tone. Excellent neck, one of the best I've experienced. The guitar came absolutely perfectly set up, right down to perfect intonation on each string. A lot of people take them for granted and chalk them off to a guitar for metal heads, but a guitar is a guitar, and in the right hands it can be shaped as an artist wills it.

    Some people will find anything to complain about. People need to realize that not everyone gets paid American minimum wage across the world. Their cost of living is of course going to be different especially in Asia. I have been to several Asian countries and seen the poorest and broken down places. Most people are happy to even have jobs to support their families. Just because they don't live in nice big houses like we do doesn't mean they don't get paid according to the work they do. Many people see these giant companies as a blessing because they offer so many jobs to people who need it. So instead of demonizing Cort and other similar companies, people should instead take the time to be educated or even take the time to visit one of these countries to have a reality check.

      When people complain about how poorly workers are paid in the third world, they don't seem to understand that low pay is better than no pay. And by third-world standards, the salaries these workers get is not bad, thousands of people in Indonesia and other countries would give their left arm for one of these jobs.
      We cannot forget that it wasn't so long ago that manufacturing wages were low. My grandfather was working in a factory at the age of 8, getting 10 cents per hour to bring home to his parents. Factories hired kids because they worked cheap, and were small; you could fit more machines in a factory where kids worked. My great-grandparents had 12 kids, the younger ones worked in a factory as soon as they were old enough, and when they got bigger and stronger, they worked on the family farm. It sounds harsh, but the family was prosperous, everyone was well-fed and dressed well, and the money earned allowed them to expand their farm.

The nut slots were way too high and there were numerous uneven frets. I had to fix it all myself to get it to play properly and comfortably. I'm not saying this is a common issue at the factory, but I don't know how it passed all those quality control measures being in the shape it was in. It's better now, but still needs some more fret and nut work. I've learned only to purchase instruments from music stores from now on so I can actually see and play what I'm interested in purchasing

      I worked in several factories in the united states when I was in college, and only one had better working conditions than what we see in this video. Another was even, and in the third, I ingested enough tile dust and hearing loss to last a lifetime. When inspectors came to test air quality, they didn't do the operations that filled our lungs with dust, or wetted down any of the areas that were dusty. I left there every day looking like a chalk miner.

    I have specialised in Cort guitars for 22 years. They produce guitars for Ibanez, Schecter, Musicman, G&L and others. They are the largest manufacturer of guitars in the World I believe and their production facilities are state of the art and their workers are treated fairly.
    You do not produce the quality that comes out of Cort with poor working conditions and low working morale.
    If you want to see the result of such conditions buy a Gibson. Hated by the workforce and by most people in the industry but everyone has to pretend to love them to make money out of unsuspecting customers who have bought into the dream.
    Visit glassdoor dot com to see what employees really think of working for Gibson.
    Many years ago Cort moved production from Korea to Indonesia due to cheaper employment costs. It happens. Its not nice - but it happens.
    Many jobs have been lost in the UK for exactly the same reasons.
    An anti capitalist organisation hijacked the plight of the Korean workforce to use them in a propogandist attack to boycott Cort - knowing this would effect a much wider audience as Cort make guitars for all the main companies out there (or so many).
    If you visit the Indonesia factories you will find them to be incredibly clean - people are healthy and well and there are no issues as mentioned on here.
    Don't believe everything you see - all the time - do proper research.
    Look at it this way. Every single day you walk into a guitar shop and are fed lies. Marketing hype and BS. Ask THEM why they sell you an Ibanez for £200 more than a Cort when its lower specification than the Cort. Ask them WHY that Martin for £2k has no break angle at the saddle. Ask them WHY the strings are falling off the edge of the £3000 Gibson. Most of what you read about in the Guitar press is driven PURELY by profit. Magazines need advertisers - Shops need sales and the victim is the end user.
    So lets not jump on Cort! Nothing is perfect in life but if you think they are the worst offenders you are delusional.

      Richards Guitars Thank you. I saw the bitch video about the Korean workers. The Korean guitars, such as Samack were excellent. I have bought guitars make in Indonesia: Fender Squire Telecaster, g & L Will Ray B bender, AST classic blueboy. They are excellent guitars and cost a lot less than the USA stuff. Earlier Indonesian stuff had rough fret edges, but the past few years the workmanship has improved. I want them to work on setting up the guitar intonation as best as it can possibly be set. The woods from Indonesia are the best. Why are the workers happy? Because they have plenty of sex. In American, 90% of the men are totally frustrated by this feminist crap. They say they want sensitive men, so they have girly men. Of course, women really want bad boys. Fender= over priced crap. Too much spent on advertising. Jimi played a strat. The company lives off this for 70 years. Gibson= way over priced crap. The other Jimmy played a Les Paul so the company is living off of that for 80 years. The Japanese made wonderful instruments, but like Korea, the labor costs are too high. China- watch out for quality control. India, not bad. They are improving. I would like to support American workers, but I am not a rich man. Mexico- good quality instrument.
