I bought the mocha edition recently. Much deliberation as it is a lot of money (for me anyway). It is a gorgeous guitar: I understand some folk have maybe criticised previous generations of noiseless pickups but the current gen are fantastic: Superb tone and a variety of options available. I'm normally a strat guy, but I can see this becoming my go-to (I play a lot of low level gigs, and my strat has been gigged hard). I'm using a Vox VT120 amp so by no means 'elite' but like I say, lovely tones, which is absolutely crucial to me. The neck is fantastic: I have small hands, so modern profiles work a lot better for me.The satin finish is wonderful, and just so much better than the lacquer (which I have on my Strat) as, during especially raucous gigs, sweaty hands might just stick ever so slightly on lacquer, and of course it'll happen during the more tricky moments! My Tele was pre-strung with 9's whereas I'm normally an 11's guy, however I might just continue with 9's given the quality of the tone, and the fact my hands will no doubt be adjusting to them. Overall, I'm delighted with it, absolutely. Hope this helps anyone deliberating.
The Vintage Apollos thanks for your help , I just ordered this exact tele . I also have cobra blue SSS & artic pearl HSS , I have never owned a tele ever but this will do due to the “ contour “ on the ultra & modern d neck .
Dude! I know all about " much deliberation"....except in my case it was much "agonization" ....I also have Hobbit hands and my biggest hesitation was the neck wouldn't work for me but the guitar store in my area finally got some in, I played one for half hour and it seems to work wonderful, no thumb discomfort, I will order one from Sweetwater tomorrow.
@Luke yes. I love it. I rarely put it down. Pros are sound, action, and comfort - both on body shape and the neck. Also, the locking tuners are great. Con, there seems to be a minor issue with the volume button. But that is probably specific to my copy and not the overall design. The neck alone is worth the money compared to the other telecasters I played.

This is definitely the best guitar demo video you've done Fender. Putting an INCREDIBLE player in a room with a guitar and letting them go. I'm a huge Ariel fan, but was really wanting to hear a quality demo of this guitar. Mission - very much - accomplished. Those new Noiseless pickups certainly help keep things mellow too, but man - I love his playing. Tasteful, graceful, and all-around skilled. GREAT video.
I beg to differ - the ultra series isn't anywhere near Posen's own. Listen to the player and his own sounds, the ultra is just too polished and doesn't satisfy dynamically. At least to my ears. Cheers!
This should last to rest any opinion that these ultra noiseless pickups don't sound as good as non-noiseless. These pickups sound as good as they get... especially with a guitar player like this who is incredible. I bought this guitar and it really doesn't get better regardless of price...it is perfect, sleek, beautiful, fantastic tones. Great video!

Beautiful! It made me buy one. Two questions though @fender: I notice that when trying to lower the neck pickup to the recommended hight for noiseless pickups (3.6mm), the bass side starts to wobble quite a bit (too much room under the hood?), secondly: I noticed that engaging the S1 switch introduces noticable higher gain (and thus also noticable more hum). Is this normal or should I send it back? thank you! (others can also reply please if they noticed similar things, or not)
The playing is really nice and the tone is pretty nice, but I just played some closet mint vintage telecasters recently and I’m blown away by how different the sound was.
Can you do a demo of the american professional telecaster please im trying to decide between the ultra and the professional do you have a preference more interested in tone than feel
@Luke Yes i decided to get the profesisonal 2 series because it is cheaper and I like it just as much. I am very pleased with my purchase. Plus I had a dream about this guitar and saw it as a sighn. Thanks for asking. I' ve already had the American Pro strat and I thout I would feel complete and in a way I do but I still crave to have Les Paul and/or a Prs. I never knew this guitar thing could be so addictive.
@Luke I have nothing negative to say about it and am very pleased. saved some money and have no regrets. You should ask about coupons or discounts I have gotten $200 off each time I bout a guitar from Music and Arts they are affiliated with Guitar Center.
The tele is the only one that appeals to me. The J-master sounds bland and I liked the strat until I played one and the neck felt like a piece of paper. But this is a beauty.
I really wish Fender would make a line between the $2k and $3k range, not custom shop but on par with say musicman and PRS quality wise. Give us quarter sawn necks, stainless steel frets plek'd, nitro finish (not relic), great sounding pickups (not noiseless), no vintage heel truss rod adjustment crap, a nice smooth satin finished neck. Something modern, great quality, and practical like suhr, except made by fender. This dude plays a suhr as his main guitar. Why? I wonder. Come on Fender, I love ya but get with the program. Lincoln Brewster's got the right idea with his strat, but it only comes in aztec gold. Really? Fender makes nothing I really want, but they totally could. It's sad.
Fender has a product like this, and has for some time. It's called the Ultra Luxe, they go for about 2.5K. A quick Google goes a long way over complaining in the UA-cam comments section!

Let me first start off by saying that I Absolutely LOVE FENDER! But what kills me about fender is their logic when it comes to their models ... The way I see it is like this .. you have Squier which is the lowest price cheapest made (yet still great instruments for the value) then you have the made in mexico (or performer series) which is a better build quality with more tlc .. then you move on up to the Player and onto the professional series .. now one would think the American PROFESSIONAL series would be loaded for the professional gigging musician (considering most of them start around 1999.00 CAD ) so one would expect the professional features such as Bone Nut (CHECK) pop in trem arm (CHECK) sweet case (CHECK) Locking Tuners.... NOPE! its the little things like that when calling something Professional that matter most .. I own four american professional guitars 2 strats (one limited ed honeyburst channel bound neck 2500 dollar guitar... and a white one maple board maple neck) a pro tele 2 tone burst and an acoustasonic tele ... all of which I had to spend extra money on to outfit with locking tuners... my honey burst strat and pro tele both came with an extra set of strings but the white pro strat and the acoustasonic tele (also 2500 +) didnt come with aanything extra other than a sticker (and the acoustasonic comes with a gig bag .... A GIG BAG its almost a 3000 dollar guitar) Now we have to pay even more for the ultra series to get what ? a set of locking tuners and some different colours ? and a d shaped neck ? also the tele should have compensated brass saddles in my honest opinion! someone at fender needs to re evaluate whats going on with their lineup ... not hating just pointing out facts .. if i spend 3k on a guitar it better have a hard case locking tuners extra strings etc etc and hows about strap locks standard ? also had to outfit all my guitars with those as well ... More cash out the pocket for A Professional grade instrument ... Cmon Fender ! p.s. I still love you Haus
While I do agree that the price merits all the highest end options, I dunno if it should mean things like locking tuners. Some people don’t even really like them. And strap locks being proprietary is also just as questionable. Some people want something traditional and some want modern conveniences. So with these I think they went with a comfortable medium between the two. I do understand your complaints though. Don’t get me wrong. The feature set definitely says these should be a couple hundred bucks cheaper.
Let me guess why the thumbs down: no country chicken pickin was played on a TELE!!! AND it has no brass saddles 😮😂. Awesome instrument. Breathe taking musician. One of the best Fender amps. Buy Fender and support musicians like Ariel.
