I think the US Army should do something like this for every new 11B and 11C who is going to Airborne school but not going to RIP or 18X. That way the 173 and 82nd could take on some additional missions
@@frozzie108 I was thinking of a P company concept at the US Army happening at Fort Bragg. It would waste time sending someone who is going to RASP to Bragg when they are already at Benning. That said if they fail SFAS or RASP they report to P company.

Also would make no sense for 173rd or 82nd airborne to do P company you would lose 60-70 percent of your of those divisions manpower.(TBH 60-70 percent is generous) E.G of the hardest endurance test which must be completed to pass either course for each of them: RASP (8 Weeks long) 12 mile run with 35lb bag (plus 10lbs of food and water) with a 6.43 lb rifle in 3hrs 30 minutes (17.5 minutes per mile with 8 less miles) (done over ardious terrian) P-Comp (8.5 Weeks long) 20 miles run with 35 lbs bag (plus 10lbs of food and water) with a 10.25lb rifle in 4hrs 30 minutes (13.5 minutes per mile with 8 more miles) (done over ardious terrian)

Would be silly not to include the phase that makes you tab 110 miles a week. Block 1: Strength, Conditioning and Familiarisation Course (2.5 weeks). Block 2: Physical and Mental Development Course (2.5-weeks). Block 3: P Company (Pre-Parachute Selection) Course (3.5-weeks)

My father was a submariner ( 1940-53) after being a boy sailor at At Vincent . He served on the Tally Ho and had the pleasure of being depth charged by the japanese in the Malacca Straits . Great pride to see those statuettes, in Westminster Abbey , of Airborne , Commando , and Submarine services 🇬🇧

That's an All Arms P-Coy, so green are Privates (or equivalent) and JNCOs, red (as already stated) is for SNCOs and white is for Officers. As an aside you can occasionally get Officers on a Para Reg Recruit Platoon P Coy if it aligns with them finishing Sandhurst and heading off to Brecon which must be a massive bonus for the Officers 😂
Well it is about Time Airborne Forces produced something to counter the very successful videos of the Royal Marine Commandos. Good to see the taches are still in. One small point. Delete early part mentioning People / Persons and insert : Men, or Troops (Gender neutral with masculine overtones).

But one of the US Army ranger batts secured an airfield in Northern Iraq during the invasion following a combat jump. The US use the capability far more than we. However 47AD conducted a lot of combat resupply by parachute in Helmand in 2006 so air drop still us its place although, from what I think you’re getting at to which I agree, that mass dropping of men and material may not have much of a place in the modern battlefield. Do you think that the Airborne training still produces quality soldiers though even if the concept might be a bit out dated?
The Paras are elite soldiers, but in todays theatre of battle technology has way surpassed their human fitness, yes in third world situations but not in modern day warfare where they can be seen day or night from space; the training for P Company is second to non, Which in itself leaves good soldier out of joining because they couldn't run Ten mile!! Yet was a zeroed in excellent shot & all round soldiers the paras didn't believe in.

It was actually wk 13 buddy then at the end of the 80s was moved to wk 17 because the pass rate was to low.
