The Parachute Regiment was formed in 1942 to conduct surprise attacks against Axis forces in WWII. Overwhelming their enemies before the allied assault forces arrived.
The Parachute Regiment has four battalions, 1st Battalion (Regular), 2nd Battalion (Regular), 3rd Battalion (Regular), and 4th Battalion (Reserves). The 1st Battalion of the Parachute Regiment is under the Director Special Forces, supporting UKSF operations around the world. While 2nd, 3rd, and 4th are under the 16 Air Assualt Brigade.

"People sleep peacefully in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf." George Orwell.
The Gatekeeper: Interesting name. Have you got a spare key for that lock on your gate because some are trying to break through. Orwell was so right!
I'm a former Brit Para.
The Gatekeeper so true, and I am very grateful....I don't think I could carry rifle...never mind raise to fire....had to go in water...no....insects....snakes....no....I am so grateful to those who do because I'm not capable.....salaries should be way higher.....respect.....xxxxx
respectfully i dont think you are understanding Orwell at all are you mate
One word of deep shame. Ballymurphy.
I was in Aldershot in the depot Para. Yes i did the Phan Dance
Wow. That was slick. I passed P Company in 1981, and how it's changed. No head guards for the milling, then, but the attitude is similar. It's good to hear them referring to killing the enemy, not 'Taking them out' and other insidious euphemisms. This may no longer be the case, but we were given every opportunity to 'jack', back then. Every man at all times was able to give up; it was made easy. Back of the land rover, no acrimony. It was impossible to know who would pass. I had a guardsman, who was desperate to join the paras, in front of me on to the confidence course (an assault course 70' in the air), he froze; he just couldn't do it. And a man who took a backward step in the milling; he failed. And I can remember crawling for what seemed like miles under a lot of weight. An instructor sidled up to me in silence with a small note book and said to me, quietly, so nobody could overhear, "Wanna jack, sir, wanna jack? Go on sir, jack". I kept going. He was looking for hesitation. Paras aren't only about aggression, killing the enemy requires cunning, too. Paras are total bastards. What would we do without them? Forgive the Rupert writing style; I can't be arsed to translate. God save the Queen.
I understood all of your sentiments and the inferences therein. I must say, watching videos of the Balloon Jump is not for the fainthearted; actually doing it requires one being a "Madman" of the best sort ;)
the standards will never slip as you will pleased to know, yes the generation changes but the blokes make sure of it. ready for anything
Bet thats hard on your rectum.
@@newton18311 ??? * "I bet that's hard on your rectum!"
Now, write the correction 100 times, before your bedtime.
Same here mucker I passed p company in July 84 no head guards just punched fuck out of eachother. Also passed out with my wings. They didn't for a long time which is fucking shocking. Now they do I have read 31 weeks training now 2 weeks at brize mine was 4 weeks
My boys a lance corporal in 2 para, serving somewhere far away from these shores , see you in may Coops 🇬🇧🏴

@@harveybarnes-lafferty2067 just don’t fall into the trap of the drinking culture on camp , buckle down and work your way up thru ranks 👏🏻
Should be a proud man no easy way into the paras and when you are one it’s a major achievement I feel they don’t get enough respect at the commandos an hopefully going to have a go a p company in a few years an if I pass out it will be the most proud moment off my life
@@shranaployasam7495 anď what of the 3 murderers killed by the SAS in Gibraltar? If those 3 murdering B's had had their way they would have slaughtered bandsmen and members of the public who were watching the military band
As ex para myself I will say this.
The regiment needs to evolve.
The SFSG role needs to be expanded to include all three battalions.
The Paras should be Britain's direct action weapon of choice and should be funded appropriately.
The model we should be looking to is the US Ranger Regiment.
A fast hitting multi-insertion capable sledge hammer.
In SOCOMD to support other SF units but still capable of operating as an independent identity with a rich, aggressive and unconventional heritage.
Aren't they all supposed to rotate between all three reg battalions
@@trident1314
It is envisioned that everyone "should" do some time in their career within 1 Para (SFSG). I guarantee that probably won't happen.
Once you're there you'll either try and stay there (in SFSG) or get into a sabre squadron through SAS/SBS/SRR selection.
16 Air Assault just hasn't got the "juice" (money, resources and quality of tasks) that UKSF can provide.
The truth is UKSF need more of these larger well trained units (like Ranger units) to properly prosecute missions.
@@nigelking464 makes sense to evolve, can only help to secure their future similar to the future commando force
@@trident1314
That's fine but the RM's don't own the Commando monica.
The Paras came from No 2 Commando in WW2. Commando units were traditionally Army units.
The Marines received the seaborne role of commando capability at roughly same time Para units were raised to provide the airborne commando capability.
We (The Parachute Regiment) should of NEVER relinquished the word commando. Big mistake.
@@nigelking464 yes I am aware of the history, I imagine the all arms qualified will be part of the future commando force

In my day we never had chutes we just jumped out and wore two pairs of socks to cushion the landing, the course was so hard no one ever passed and if you did pass P coy you were shot for being cocky.
Oh yeh? And I fought along side luke skywalker
bull shit i got a medal for saveing 500 Soldiers lives. I shot the Cook,
Let me tell you i once jumped and pulled my shute, it did not open , so when i landed i kept it and took it back and complained,
@ell arr ess Cant be Raf Reg. He can spell.🤣
Two pairs of socks ? You were lucky !
My father in law passed away 6 years ago and was in the paras....miss that man so much ......RIP Ron always in our thoughts.
Best airborne infantry in the world. 🙏

@So Cal How? When was the last war france won ? i will tell you smart arse 1918 , the nazi's walked through europe including france the brits had to bail them all out , we the british were fighting wars when the french were in the trees eating bananas

@So Cal How? you're talking absolute shit.
Greetings from an argentine paratrooper, our best enemies🇦🇷🇬🇧
Los británicos fueron sin duda un enemigo honorable y valiente.
@In4Red wtf jaja
That’s really quite touching 😢
They are terrifying but as a Scot I imagine I’d be very relieved to see them in the unlikely event I was ever to find myself in a position where I was being held captive as a human shield in some god forsaken place in an international terror incident
Good compilation matey, got the tone just right! The Belize footage takes me back alot of years! At the time hated jungle training, but now id jump at the chance to go do it again.
Glad you enjoyed the video! :)
Sany0 my son was there last year , he’s in this video and typical liam , standing with a beer 😂
Did the British Army still maintain the jungle training even during the wars in the Middle East?

Served 18 years in 2 para … loved it. I transferred from the Welsh guards … Para Regt is a totally different world.
The American recruit training, for all its intensity and vigor, still lacks the viciousness of British training instructors. I wish the Yanks had the same madness in their hearts.
This film makes me more proud to be a PARA 🇬🇧💪🏻 Yeeeehaaa up the Reg 👍🏻What Manner of Men are These who wear the Maroon Red Beret Every Man an Emperor🙏🏻
'Are you gonna let that happen?' No Corporal!
'ARE YOU GONNA LET THAT HAPPEN?' NO CORPORAL
That bit got me hyped up
Best part of the video for me
Passed selection with a 7.40 min runtime. Off to Harrogate in September to train as a paratrooper!
Impressive run time, goodluck!

Thank you!
Thought paras went Catterick like infantry and guards.
Michael Windsor I’m only 15 so I’m doing the 49 week junior para corse at Harrogate, then 14 weeks at Catterick :)

Thank you, sir!
Cant wait to go into the paras wont be long now been training my heart out everyday in preparation as i know this is the most elite regiment and they wont just take anybody, im only 18 but super fit and strong ready to take on this challenge. Glad you enjoyed the video! :)
I can honestly say, if I could have my time again, I would be a Para.
Respect!
The quality of training is second to none. My nephew is an officer in the 4th Regiment. Hopefully he will move to the regular 3rd and 2nd within a year..
4th battalion, not the 4th regiment
Rather die on my feet than live on my knees
A big thanks to the work these boys do...there still is a lot of Great in Britain 🇬🇧
I’m proud to know that I’ve got Airborne blood in me. Didn’t know this was what my dad went through. Luckily he made it out. After 8 years of being a paratrooper, he was ready to quit. Go home to his Ma and Dad. Then he spent a few years doing nothing, getting jobs, getting girls, having fun. Then he met my mum, who cheated on him. They broke up on my 10th birthday.
Great video! Congratulations for all paras!
From a former member of 2 para, we'll done class video
Thankyou for your SERVICE . GOD BLESS YOU GG
Love the content bud keep em coming
I'll tell you this. The British Parachute Regiment are the best soldiers in the world outside of special forces. They have the toughest basic training out of any infantry soldier in.the world. They are second to none.
Except the Royals 😜
@@jameslee-west1793 you mean the maureens lol
And the Royal Marines. They're tough bastards.
This regiment of so called Soldiers murdered 23 unarmed innocent civilians in Belfast and Derry in 1971/1972. Cowardly murdering scum , they were very tough when it came to killing unarmed civilians not so tough when the they met armed volunteers of the IRA at Warrenpoint
@@deslatt1172 And the IRA were paragons of virtue, were they?

Probably the Taliban mate😂
Yeah makes my piss boil . Take a look at what they do to the ex paras trying to help their brothers n sisters from ptsd at a camp he's opened up in his land, being accused of being far right cause he loves his country. #Activepatriot search his videos and listen to a vet called little veteran. #Children.matternews
you will always have some sad act putting the thumbs down just because their jealous etc , they will be negative on a little disabled kid doing something for themselves which is a huge achievement for the kid etc , if they watched someone walk on water they would probably say their only walking on water because they cant swim . i personally stay away from them dont want their sad mentality getting in my head .
"Utrinque Paratus" is the motto of The Parachute Regiment and means "Ready for anything".
Did my 'p' coy late 59 then 'p'coy staff 70-75 in the 50's no dms boots only studded sole boots it was horrendous on a winter course with ice on shuffle bars and trainasium.still the young men today get it rough and I'm chuffed to bits with today's young Paras well done!
Were you at Aldershot in ‘71 when a bunch of 16yr old schoolboys came for a 2 week sighting course? Haha. I’ll never forget it. Guys running everywhere carrying logs. Loved the Assault course. I remember assembling a GPMG (I think) on my bunk blindfold, and the firing range trying to hit a target at 50yds with a sten on single shot. No chance.
For those that don't know the milling (boxing) has rules that state the troops cannot defend
offense is defense
Lads layin down some Led down range.. love to see it, hope to be there soon! Stay safe gents

The Paras are immense - always have been always will be.
I met a Corporal from 1 Para back in 1983, we did an exchange when they were on Penguin duty in Edinburgh. He told me about Northern Ireland, Scouse was his name, little guy, hard as nails. A decade plus I hod got my commission and was going through the mortar platoon leaders course at Benning after we got back from Desert Storm. We had a Para WO, he knew Scouse, small world. This old bastard would take a 81mm tube and base plate and run up and down the hill at lunch for PT (back when IMPOC was down on Upatoi creek). Consummate professional.
My son Daniel is currently a Para JOE at Catterick. Great video! #UtrinqueParatus

Was meant to start basic training in a couple of months. Got deferred because I was told I needed to take a cardiology test as they was something showing up on their readings when I was having my ECG. Turns out it was a chest infection. Months and months of wasted time but I'm going back to the assesment centre next month... been deferred twice now for silly things hoping it all goes to plan this time round. To everyone who's thinking of applying. Make sure you are fit and healthy before you attend the assesment centre

Here in Indian Army, the SF is part of the Parachute Regiment. In Indian Army the Parachute Regiment is divided into two roles, SF and airborne infantry. The PARAs of Indian Army consists of 14 battalions ( 9 SF and 5 Airborne Infantry). Every SF battalion is specialised in a different type of warfare, 3 battalions for mountain warfare and COIN, 2 battalions for desert warfare and COIN, 3 battalions for jungle warfare and COIN and 1 battalion for urban warfare, tactical ops and COIN. The 5 Airborne infantry battalions are used as a support group of SFs.
