I Ate at the Most OLD SCHOOL ITALIAN Restaurant in Las Vegas

  • I ate at the most old school Italian restaurant in Las Vegas, Battista's Hole in the Wall. Battista's is an Italian restaurant located across from Bally's Las Vegas (formerly MGM Grand), in operation since 1949. You get complimentary wine with your dinner at Battista's Hole in the Wall and, if you're lucky, a serenade from the venerable accordion player. The whole restaurant is like a dim (literally) memory of the past. It reminded me most of 1970s Italian American food. We ordered spaghetti and meatballs and chicken parmesan at Battista's Las Vegas.

I order a Panino, they look puzzled! And thanks for the garlic bread thing, we had a massive argument with some idiot know all relative over from the UK in our place in Turin, who insisted we weren't at a 'proper' restaurant as garlic bread wasn't on the menu.

It's Italian-American food. They are recipes your ancestors invented after they came to America many decades ago. It's really excellent food if the chef is a good chef. If you ever come to visit America the biggest surprise will be Pizza. Our pizza is very different from yours.

Because Derek did not get any wine, just want to let viewers know the wine actually comes in large carafe, and they will keep bringing more if you ask...we usually get at least 2. They will also bring more garlic bread. They are very generous with the wine and bread, easily justifying the prices. Our favorite Vegas restaurant!

I loved eating there when I lived in Vegas from the early 80's to early 90's. I miss the old fashioned delicious food they have. Glad to see it is still in operation.

In St. Louis, we have some incredible Italian restaurants on “The Hill” and virtually all of them date back to that time frame and earlier. We are incredibly spoiled for amazing Italian food in our general area. Looking forward to getting back to Vegas & enjoying so much of the wonderful food, entertainment, shopping, etc.!😊👍

The Golden Stear would be a good place to do a review on. The pepper mill, Bastisa's hole in the wall and the golden steer are probably the 3 oldest restaurants of Vegas with lots of history. Cover the classics, Restaurants that have prove in their test of time. Proof good food never goes out of style!

I told the waitress that I want spagetti and-a meat-a-balls. She repeated it as meat balls. Then I said no, I want spagetti and-a meat-a-balls. So she then repeated spagetti and meat-a-balls. The portions are big so I eat what I can and to save money take some back to my room for the next day. My room at Bally's had a small fridge that nearly freezes the left overs. Battista's is a must stop on my Vegas trips. It has the old school vibe because it is the old school. The customers are so laid back and the atmosphere makes you feel like you are part of that select old school in the know crowd. I was here 3 times this trip August 6-14 2020 and I look forward to visiting here next August. Chris, I can't believe this is you first visit to Battista's. Where have you been!!!

Loved Battista's since the first time i was there several decades ago. Used to go every couple of months when I moved to Vegas in the early 90's. The prices have always been a tad on the high side, but the food never disappointed & the old school ambiance more than made up for it. Keep eatin' & filming for us Derek!

As a child in the 60s we stayed at the Hacienda hotel and we went to a restaurant called The Leaning Tower. It had a picture of the leaning tower of Pisa. We went twice, and for Italian families that is high praise! I remember my parents saying it was probably owned by the mob😆

I agree. Maybe "she" could wear a *Lone Ranger* mask to hide her identity? I'd be happy with at least a NAME, (even a made up name). I really like her knowledgeable commentary on the food. Derek is great too. You can tell they have a lot of foodie experience. They pronounce items from many cuisines correctly. Not only is this is a fun channel but it's very well done. Personally, I'm glad Derek is moving a bit beyond the bargain buffets.
