- In this video Beki shows you how you can use the brand new sketch carving feature in v12 to create a jewelry tray that would be the perfect keepsake gift for your Mom on Mother’s Day, or any day for that matter!
She shows you how easy it is to simply take a photo on your phone, import it into the software and apply a quick sketch carve toolpath to decorate the simple trinket style tray. Realizing the potential of this powerful toolpath Beki decided to try out other examples and ways that this toolpath could be applied. From utilizing some of the free models from the Design and Make store to make quick cutouts, to using stock imagery and sketch carving into acrylic to create an LED Light. Then looking at how you can use specialized material like black valcromat (MDF) with a painted surface to carve an instant contrast of your favorite pop icon, and she’s only just scratched the surface! We can’t wait to see what you make with the new sketch carving toolpath!

Good presentation and I think having "you" in the inset as well as the Vectric screen is a nice touch.
Thank you!
Nice projects to demonstrate how useful this new tool path can be.
Thank you!
Very nice explanation of the sketch carving tool path. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful, thank you!
Wow, what a great new feature! Thanks for the video!
Glad you like it! Thank you!
great Job, I have updated to 12 and will be making a lot of things with sketch.
That is great news, thank you!
Thank you very much 😊
Thanks!
That's really cool projects, I like how you do it.
Thank you!
Love love love it!!
Thank you Chris!
I think I'm going to love V12.
I be you will, thank you and enjoy!
Thank you Beky this video was super informative, this is a nice addition to the software.
I have one question for you, you always put leads to your cutout, I always only use a spiral ramp, is there a benefit of using lead over a spiral ramps beside saving one full rotation over the outline?
Cool projects Beki!
Thanks Andy!!!
What bit did you use on the acrylic sign?
Hi Beki Good information and I would like to see these presentations in Metric. The US is about the only country in the world that still use imperial (inches) -- Also is there any way of saving and/editing the vectors created in the Sketch Carving Toolpath? Cheers Rob -- Australia
Hello Rob... Todd here. We jump back and forth between the two units... if we did this in metric we would surly see a comment asking for it in inches... LOL. As for editing the vectors... nope. You can use vectors to isolate or remove areas for the sketch carve to miss... choose the option in "Machine Limit Boundary" to use vectors... have a play and see if it helps.
Time to improve to v12 since my 8 version hahaha
Excellent!
Just interested in your spindle. Not usual 300w VFD, Do you have any details of it please?
Hello and thanks for the question. Here is a link to the spindel - www.avidcnc.com/87-hp-plug-and-play-spindle-vfd-system-p-834.html
Good software why alway in inch and not mm
Hello and thanks for the question. We do try to switch it up a bit, and in most cases you can just change the units in the software, check the tooling and all sould be OK.
I agree with Janet the audio was terrible, Come on vectric this letting the side down.
Thanks for the comment... we had a listen to be sure the ausio was OK, and it seems fine here. Thanks for letting us know.
I am sorry I cannot make out what she is saying.
