  • Went on a fishing trip to one of my favorite spots on the Juniata River. Caught a bunch of smallmouth bass and had something huge take off and then swim right at me before it got off... most likely a musky. All in all, a pretty good trip.

A lifetime ago, Pop and I fished the Juniata for smallmouth regularly, from Mifflintown to Duncannon.

There's some beautiful water down that way. I've got to be honest, I've never fished that section but I have floated it in a canoe. We canoed over several days, from Huntingdon to Duncannon. Thanks for watching!

I started fishing the river here this summer. I fished it a few times over the years but always kind of thought there wasn't anything of good size.
Went out with a friend in August and I caught a 4lber on topwater. I got addicted to both wade fishing and the river and my wallet's been incredibly disappointed in me these last few months.
I've already learned so much it's insane. From having 0-2 fish days to 10-20 fish days. By far my biggest lesson this year has been to GO FIND THE FISH. I think location is far more important than any other factor. You don't get to decide what looks "fishy," the fish do.
Channels like yours are a big part of why I've been able to be so successful. Though I just stumbled on yours now, I'm sure there's tons I'll gain binge watching all your videos. Appreciate it ahead of time!

Thank you for your kind words. I went almost 20 years without fishing. I got back into it roughly 4 years ago and rekindled my passion for it. I do the UA-cam thing as a way to take people along on my adventures...and just maybe give them the itch to get out and go fishing themselves. Although I have gotten better by leaps and bounds, I'm still pretty much a one trick pony as they say. I mainly stick with the Nikko Hellgrammites or Berkley Gulp Minnows, but I am slowly branching out and trying different things. You are right. You have to find the fish. Sometimes it's just dumb luck, but most of the time it's from your ability to read the water, to understand the structure of the water you're fishing. This (more than anything) is where I have grown by leaps and bounds over the last few years. It's also going to be a highlight of my videos moving into the future. Downside is that people figure out my "secret" spots, so they're no longer secret. LOL Once again, thank you for taking the time to watch my videos (and commenting). I greatly appreciate it!

In the warm to fall months,May till November grab yourself a Whopper Plopper or Choppo topwater. Look for rocks and current work those areas. Big aggressive Smallmouth love topwater, you can catch Pike,Muskies, Large and Small mouth on them. I use a perch pattern for off color water.I also like NED rigs from Zman in pumpkin green color.4"TRD. 2" or smaller squarebill crankbaits also.

Yeah, that one was a heart breaker! I was fishing about 2 miles below the Raystown Lake Spillway. That whole stretch from the spillway to the Juniata River is filled with smallmouth bass. Thanks for watching!

Enjoy your videos! I in Centre county and always fish in Huntingdon area specifically Raystown Aitch Boat launch. Where do you get the Nikko hellgrammites?

At first, I bought them off of Amazon but now I buy them directly from Nikko. (off their website link below) They are fairly expensive but they easily match the real thing. The main colors I use around here (that produce the most bass) are natural and mudbug. I try different colors for different conditions. Good luck!

I fish the north branch and west branch susquehanna Juniata is a good little fishery but, its smaller of course and doesn't hold the large amount of Big ones . Its still enjoyable though

I've caught some great numbers of smallmouth but as far as size, you really have to know where they are likely to be. There are some giants swimming around but they're way harder to find. Thanks for watching!
