Here's where playing Omaha helps you in Holdem it's called blockers You had a 6 makes it much less likely he has one and he if he had the nuts he would have jammed when you raised because flush draw was lurking. On the QT vs 99 hand, why bet river for value but not on the AA vs K8 hand? Both could have checked to induce bluff. Was it a player read? I guess the aggression preflop from bunny?
Mariano is one of the best poker vloggers on UA-cam, easily. If not THEE best. I like watching HIM the best because he possesses higher level thought than most people, which I appreciate. That said, I semi-disagree with one of his opinions in this video: The hand at 8:00, when he has AA, and he's analyzing what to do on the river. He said he greatly prefers a check in this spot, bluff catching, and I do understand his reasoning. HOWEVER, two factors, in MY mind, indicate his river-action SHOULD be a lead-out for a bet: 1.) She 4-bet preflop. This will move her far-up into her range, on average. She will have over-pairs to a 10 high flop a considerable portion of the time when 4-betting. And, if those over-pairs don't have a heart, they will play (generally) exactly how she played this hand (on the flop/turn.) 2.) She CHECKED the turn. This indicates one of two things -> A) She has show-down value, implementing pot control. B) Or, she has TOTAL air. If she has TOTAL AIR, she is likely going to shut-it-down because Mariano (being the caller, preflop) is MUCH more likely to have two-pair or better on that run-out. Bluffing on TOTAL AIRBALLS is generally a terrible idea when the board smashes your opponents range, and it's TERRIBLE for YOUR range.
The first hand against Poker Tart, where you had AA. What is the case against clicking back the river bet? You checked to induced, Poker Tart fell for it, so why not click it back? Seems to me that you can click for value, they're not going to fold for another 7k right???
@@joyride1598 To be sure, we can agree that a shove or something huge would be a mistake. That's *not* what I'm suggesting. But it's low probability that they are going to fold to a min-raise. Unless you're willing to min-raise after successfully inducing, it seems like the risk/reward of checking in the first place is not worth it. I'd rather just lead out here for value than risk the check back.
@@roodflo3080 Yes, that would be wonderful. Mariano clearly thought he had the best hand and he states that the check is to induce. So, yes, you should be OK with a re-raise. Again, if you *don't* click it back then you are never realizing the risk/reward of the check to begin with. If you don't like the thought of the re-raise, then is your analysis of having the best hand flawed to begin with? If so, then the first check would not be the right move. But I agree that Mariano had the best hand so why not be rewarded for the check to induce?
