I've been using Gemini on my pixel for a while now. The upgrades to it have been good , but I think Google needs to speed up the process in making it a full replacement for assistant. Not only should Gemini be able to be a full replacement it should be able to go beyond what assistant can do keeping in mind it is focused around AI.
Watching it in Europe feels like this is news from different world lol
Being left in the dark ages here.
And yet, Gemini can still not set a reminder or take a note. Until it can do everything Assistant can do (all the non-AI phone management things), it will not replace Assistant.

@@Panicbot92 Maybe they have added it recently, but on release, it could not do basic Assistant functions and you could not have both operational simultaneously
Bro, very informative, but your yelling tone is really obnoxious! It's much mnore comfortable to listen to updates like these if you have a more conversational tone rather than yelling over a large crowd.

The "Live mode" is the same voice mode that ChatGPT has had for a while
And also Project Astra being kinda very similar to the video capability of GPT 4o but much less human-like

I am very excited about Gemini 1.5. Its large context window makes it possible to analyze an entire code base. It is very useful.
Was actually hoping for more out of Google I/O maybe I'm just spoilt but nothing announced really excited me and most features are months away
The smart glasses used were the most interesting part to me.
Google home has been tripping since Gemini started releasing to devices. I hope it gets fixed.
So that's why Google suddenly decided to promise 7 years of major OS updates!!! From now on, everything about Android and Google in general will be based on AI

He's not yelling but his tone feels pretty caricatured. I don't want to be a jerk but every time I see him narrate a video, it distracts from the actual content. It just feels forced like how a news anchor speaks

Still waiting for the Gemini App to come to the UK... For now it's the half baked version which can't generate images or anything like that from APK Mirror.

Ik I can see the Pixel 9 being released here in October with none of the cutting edge AI features that will be advertised to death in the rest of the world. You'd be better off getting an 8 second hand.
Gemini is pretty good. Assistant is just faster at handling tasks whereas Gemini takes longer to respond.

you can use root to spoof your phone as a pixel 8 pro to get all the features. I use magic editor this way on my £250 Xiaomi Mi 11

The news looks like a light info release, premature developments. The vocal tone of the employee is poor, similar to a caffeinated summary by someone enamored by mimicking a galloping horse or a tv news anchor giving a presentation to 9 year olds. I am clearly 11 yrs old... Well, work on the tone and pace, so we're not talked down to, good luck. An acting class will help develop your voice and tone.
Who has the time to learn all this junk. Not only that how has a life this active..the emails I get are from credit card companies tell me I'm pass do, I don't need an AI robot telling me I'm broke 🤷
If I can hear you inhale and it's just as loud as your voice, slow it down and tone it down. It's hard listening to you when you're that loud since I have to keep adjusting the volume.
