Thanks, threw out the directions. Couldn't figure out where the extra blades were. Didn't know the end cap came off. Appreciate the video.

There's nothing wrong with taking precautions but it's funny to hear and see you have to wear safety glasses and gloves just to break the 9mm blade with its built in blade snapper while the lady in this video only using her thumb to break the 18mm blade ua-cam.com/video/HROZEQ2UmVE/v-deo.html
The 9mm blade is designed for precision cutting so it wouldn't be fair if you compare it to a trapezoid utility knife especially the knife you are using is not a knife from a brand known for making good snap-off knives like the OLFA and NT Cutter.
In the previous video i recommended the OLFA DL-1 or OLFA PL-1 because both use 18mm blade which are suitable for heavy cutting work and also have very useful features.
If you often need the tip of the knife then OLFA DL-1 with built in snapper + blade disposal case will suit you better but if you often use the whole blade to cut thick things then you should choose OLFA PL-1 because it has auto load function and blade storage.
I trimmed and merged some videos on youtube and in this video you will be able to see some of the advantages of a snap-off knife over a trapezoid knife ua-cam.com/video/DZEg5QEnQ6I/v-deo.html
I don't mean to be negative so i hope you don't get me wrong. I just wanted to share my opinion based on personal experience because ever since I found out about the 18mm and 25mm snap-off blades i have stopped carrying Spyderco Military as EDC.
    Thanks for the video.

Completely agree on going overboard on safety. It was more to set a good example. If I was working on a job, I certainly wouldn't mess around with any of that. I'll check out your other suggestions, thanks for sharing!

I have a cheaper one and it has a slit but I can’t seem to get it off

Are you using the back of the knife to break it off? You could also trying breaking it off at the slit with a pliers. Just make sure to take any necessary safety precautions.

Plus no closeup of the actual break.

Just break on the small pre-etched grooves along the blade for a new edge. Sorry, this video isn't the best, it was one of my first ones. Thanks for watching!
